Does Ake get much game time for the Netherlands ? Or is it mainly VVD and De Ligt?
VVD and de Ligt start with de Vrij as backup. De Vrij might actually be better than de Ligt at this moment in their career though.

Ake was used as a defensive left back sub a few time. Ake is part of the core of the selection and always selected but he will likely not be a starter anytime soon... or ever.

It sounds like both, depending on what you’re listening for. But it’s probably the latter because “you need a bit of a luck as a centre back so keep going” doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

Right and we need a left footed centre back keep going makes so much sense

Would be madness if we are looking for a left footed CB and don't go in for Alaba. We already have the squad options in Lindelof and Bailly. We have the young ones with potential in Tuanzebe and Mengi. But only Maguire would be a starter in most not even all top European sides.
If you think we'll have a spare 80 million floating around to sign a 28 year old after we hopefully buy Sancho, then you're not living in the real world. We'll be spending 20 million max on an up and coming defender as that is all we'll have to spend.

Aré there actually any other top left-footed CBs in world football atm? I know Alaba is playing there for Bayern but can’t think of many others.
Laporte
Chiellini
Umtiti
Lenglet
Romagnoli is someone who's been talked up
Lucas Hernandez was meant to be decent but can't get into Bayern's team at the moment
Not many top ones. The following are decent left-footed players/prospects, who can both pass and head the ball:

Romagnoli (Milan)
Bastoni (Inter)
Badiashile (Monaco)
Gabriel (Lille)
Torunarigha (Hertha)

Malang Sarr isn't as good in the air, but he's quick, good on the ball and a free transfer this summer.
Presnel Kimpembe and Dan-Axel Zagadou too

Alaba's quoted price is 30-40m. He has 1 year left on his contract. I'd rather sign Sancho and spend 40m on Alaba than on Grealish.

Of course it does - as in just, keep playing as you are type of thing until the end of the season.

Why would he say, you need luck as a centre back? To say sorry for scoring 5?

His dream is to go to Spain. Ole will only sign players who dream of playing for Man Utd. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...l-choose-spain-england-bayern-contract-talks/
Doesn't matter where he dreams of playing. Besides Barca and Madrid don't need him. We might not even be his 5th choice but if we are looking for a left footed CB and a Maguire pair then we should be in for him and If he doesn't want to come here then move on.

The bolded bit is quite funny

You shouldn'tbe arguing with him. He's the only one that heard different.

I can absolutely guarantee you that we have absolutely no interest in him. We're not spending a ton of money on a 28 year old who is 5'11 in height. Let it go

He said you need a bit of luck in these situations keep going. He never mentioned centre backs

Bournemouth defensive record with Ake,

2016/17 67 goals conceded 10 clean sheets
2017/18 61 goals conceded 6 clean sheets
2018/19 70 goals conceded 10 clean sheets
2019/20* 59 goals conceded 4 clean sheets

And people seriously want a guy that has been part of this horror show?

I am not fully on board the Ake train either but it’s a bit harsh to compare the record of a team in the bottom half of the table. Of course they are going to concede a lot. It’s not just him in defense. The rest of them are shit.

It's almost as if Bournemouth aren't very good.

he is not good enough to be in starting XI cb and I rather Tuanzebe/Mengi got a chance over signing Ake.

Let’s say he did (which he didn’t), why would Ake laugh at that?

Why would he laugh at getting tapped up which didn't happen ?

Its all subjective but i just dont see any sense in saying keep going after saying you want to buy a player.

Do people go into a shop and say i would like to buy a jacket keep going ?

However when giving a consoling word about a player having little luck saying keep going makes a lot more sense

Reading through I'm one of very few who really rates him, I don't think he's had much back up at Bournemouth but whenever I see him play I think he's strong, good on the ball and a handful on corners.

Given Bournemouth are likely getting relegated he's more than likely going to be sold off, I'd defo bring him in as competition to Maguire, Lindelof and Bailly.

Keep going in that context obviously means keep progressing. It's words of encouragement. Keep pushing, keep moving, keep going. If you can't see how that makes sense then you're not smart

Dare I say it but this is what Liverpool did with Van Dijk identified the best player possible and waited for them.

I see Ake as a rush job to get in bodies.
Exactly. This is the reason for our transfer failures. We buy an average player for a position and don't strengthen it for next few windows as we have other priorities and miss a quality player who becomes available in next windows.

Yeah totally agree that we need to wait for the right CB & DM to become available rather than rush out and sign one just for the sake of it.

I hate to give the scousers any credit but that is the right tactic to take in the transfer market.

You mean where he said he has no idea why people think he said what you believe ?
Or more of an admission he doesn't know why he said it? He didn't say "I did not say that" did he

In Maguire's 'breakout' season for Hull City in which he won Player of the Year, they conceded 80 goals. Thank God we dodged that bullet.

They also got Winjaldum, Robertson, Oxlade, Matip, Minamino and Solanke.

I do agree with this generally but if the money is low enough then I won’t be completely against it. If Bournemouth get relegated then I read his fee could be down to 20m. Obviously I don’t know if it’s true but hypothetically let’s say it is. Sometimes bringing in players with some potential and playing them in a team with better players might make them better. Vidic and Evra weren’t world beaters when he got them. But we turned them into world class players. Again I’m not saying Ake is going to turn into one but for 20m it might be worth a punt. At that price the risk is low and the reward is good enough.

please no. Ake is nowhere near good enough: Lindleof and Baily are better than him

He looks well-built, he's left-footed and is comfortable on the ball so I can see why he catches the eye of some people. He's a pretty terrible defender though. A slightly stronger, left-footed David Luiz.

Not an upgrade on Lindelof or arguably even Bailly.

Yeah if we are making this our priority after RW then should definitely be targeting better

OK, I wouldn't be over the moon with signing him as I think we need a better defender than anyone we currently have, but he's being underestimated quite a bit on here. It's OK to not want to sign him but still recognise that he's a good defender.
