maybe ole wants to move him inside at lcb. Shaw doesn't provide much attack at lb, but defensively he's been very sharp. Since Young left we don't have a true ball carrier and Chilwell is one of the best at pushing it forward.

Chilwell, Shaw, Maguire, AWB would be a very good backline and one that can compete in European play.
I see shaw more as a LCB long term, it’s where his size and skill sets would have him. I’d take chillwell if we could get a decent deal. I’d rather prioritize RW first

I agree with the first part although it would be a bit harsh on Shaw it would be good to have an attacking outlet on the left side.

On the second part I’d actually like to see Lindelof in Europe I think he has been playing better this past while and could be a very good CL defender.

Shaw at LCB is a good option to maybe it could save us spending big on a centre back.

Talk about us being in for Chillwell this morning in the papers, £60m.

Personally don’t want us to pay that much for him, decent player mind.
Neil Custis & Andy Dillon have reported this for The Sun, how reliable are they?

Attacking wise Digne is further ahead than both, Digne is 7th for most chances created in the league this season. He’s created 64 chances so far.

Not sure mate. But the Mail and the Mirror also reporting it.
Leicester obviously using United to create an auction. Calculated leaks to press. United definitely have other pressing priorities than the left-back position.

Chilwell, Koulibaly, several Barca players... Clearly some teams / agents trying to sell.

How much fecking money are they going to spend this summer?
They are doing precisely what we should be doing.

I’ve been crying out for it since the start of this pandemic. We should use this window to close the gap.

If we don’t make a real investment in this window I will be furious.

Yeah can’t wait for the season to be over actually. I know we won’t do business till it’s done. Can’t wait to see the deadwood we move out first. If we could somehow make around 50-60m from sales that will go a long way. We should be able to sign someone good with that money.

It’s perfect timing for Chelsea. I can see them spending £250m+, which considering they had a ban and couldn’t buy anyone last year, makes it £125m per window, well within the realms of normality for a club like them. The market is also on a downturn due to Covid so it all makes sense.

Realistically we should do the same if possible but I can understand all clubs being wary, there’s a possibility that there will be no fans in stadiums well in to next season.

Roma want to keep the defender in Serie A but the offer of 3 million (plus 14/15 million obligatory buyout) to keep him on loan for another year does not convince the English club which continues to ask for more.
Feck them, we could easily get 20-25 for him from any EPL team.

Yeah feck these Italian low balling clubs.

Smalling is worth far more than 3 mill sat on our bench, considering he’s better than any of our sub options for centre back and IMO should have been tried as Maguires partner.

They are having a laugh with that offer unless they include Zaniolo in the deal.

Just keep Smalling. Get rid of Jones. He's neither injury-prone or terrible. We can make use of him as evident by his session in Serie A.

Least don't fecking allow ourselves to get lowballed. They want him? Pay for it.

It would seem a bit silly when we have a few other places to reinforce first.

Unless Ole doesn’t fancy Shaw.
Totally agree money is better spent other places, but I don't fancy Shaw. The memories of his complete lack of hustle/work rate last year and at times is tough for me to shake. I am very happy his form has picked up with Williams behind him, but I'd love to have replacement over the next couple years.

100% ageee with that. United is an easy team with strong financials to use to negotiate up your valuation of your players. There is no way that a new LB is a top 3 priority for us given Shaw and Williams performances

I'm confused as to why people think Shaw can play LCB in a back 4

Mistake or pisstake? I’d rather have a proper CB but Ole has moved him to LCB in a 3 if he see’s him as CB so be it.

He’s good at defending and reads the game well and can pass out from the back.

Mistake but could actually pass as a pisstake . I think we should at least test Shaw as LCB in a back four. Maguire also doesn't usually play RCB. Doesn't matter though Chilwell link isprobably a nothing rumour

I think what we have with Shaw is as good as it will get but if we put in someone like Digne we could get to the next level attacking wise..

Maybe but I don't really get the need to upgrade on Shaw. It's similar to people saying we need to replace Martial.

Shaw’s just a bit underwhelming if Ole wanted to replace him I’d totally understand but I think we have a few more pressing positions to upgrade instead.

It says a lot about our deadwood doesnt it when we are hoping to get £50/60m in sales when you consider what can be bought with £60m is very little.

I must say though, I find it bemusing some of the low values people on here have of some of our players. Jones for example many seem to think we would be able to even get a fee for

Get rid of both and as someone else has commented..... I am sure for £15-18m we could find numerous interested parties in the premiership
