...an assumption that because he is English he receives special favours.
If he was white/English, the easy answer to this is to say he does.

We are moving the question a bit sideways and it may not ALWAYS be true. It might be less true than it used to be because this generation of Tory Governments don't mind crapping on disenfranchised poor white people too.

If a white person would have said, he hasnt booked him because he is black, there would have been uproar. Knives out, witch hunt the lot. Flip it round the other way, it is still the same. Racial ignorance cannot be tolerated under any circumstances

I doubt it. People would just be really confused because it would make feckall sense to imply black people get favourable treatment in this country.

It's not the same.

You want it to be the same but it isn't.

It's been explained in 3-4 different ways that it isn't the same.

One is a 'joke' about racism (Troopz) the other would be a racist comment.

The proper loony Left would be saying this implies all sorts of things. Which I think is often pretty stupid, and now they'd be on to me too. This is where we are, and it's shit.

Im sorry, I completely disagree with you. People want equality in life, then let's have equality. Robbie should change his text on his channel to $$$ matter

I think the point is that the referee is accused of bias, so the comparison would be is the referee was black and didn't give a yellow to a black player it would be controversial to say it was due to racial bias

There’s been a LOT of stupid shit posted about racism on here but the idea that making an accusation of white privilege is in itself racist has to be the dumbest of them all.

I can’t believe some of you think it’s all right that troops racially profiled a player & said that was the sole reason he didn’t get booked. And think it’s ok. Fair enough but I think anyone with those ideas to any race is in the wrong

You have to have a racist mindset to think the ref thinks that- it’s crazy the defence of the guy on here. Just imagine if DY said ‘ oh look at Auruer getting away with one there cos he’s black’

The only way society really progrssses is when people don’t look at race as their first thought to something

A bit like when there was the stats of who was quickest out of our forward line & the response was ‘ oh so just cos they’re black you put the speed stats up’ when no actually it was because they were talking about who was quickest.

Equality means calling out any racist action & mindset, not just those of a select colour- you’re going down a very dangerous road when you say that it’s ok to racially discriminate one race over another

So presumably all the black ex pros that have bemoaned difficulty in getting managerial roles are racist then?

They are also suggesting that race is playing a part in decision making (in this instance hiring rather than yellow cards).

So Les Ferdinand, John Barnes, Sol Campbell, Dwight Yorke etc must all be racist.

The only difference between them and Troopz is that Troopz' claim was more ridiculous.

Raheem Sterling must also be racist because he has suggested that white players get preferential treatment in the media.

It all comes from the same place - the claim being that race has played a part in decision making. The only difference is the variance in the validity of each claim.

I don’t know why this thread is turning into racist debate.

There are many ways to see it as racism. For example the “black lives matter”. It also a sign that people are looking at race in their first thought. So is it racist then? What about the white & asian? It should be “all lives matter”. However it’s not racist because it’s used to tell people that black lives also matter not just white. It has meaning into it.

What troopz said won’t be considered as racial abuse in the society because that’s just how this world works. We’ve seen people using their skin colour just as a self defense, nothing new.

However, I can understand why people think it’s a racist because what he said has zero sense into it. Of million jokes he can come out on the referee, he came out with skin colour.

  :lol::lol: - remember when this thread used to be about this?
Those were the days. Remember when troopz was sweating with adrenaline after they scored against tottenham just for them to burst his bubble in a minute or so. We need someone like @marukomu to post the crowd gif equivalent for arsenal.

Although I've contributed to the problem of ruining this thread with racism talk, can one of the put a notice to take racism talk to a different thread and get this one back on track.

Arse play tonight and I'm quite sure they will lose.

This can only be resolved through a Gary Neville style summit with Claude and Son - moderated by Troopz and Expressions.

I haven't read through this thread so I apologize if the answer is there already...

So Claude is kicked off AFTV for saying "DVD's going off" (or something like that). When I heard that, my thought was a reference to Tottenham making a DVD for a 4-4 tie vs Arsenal a few years back that Arsenal fans like to have a laugh at. Only later I learned that DVD is somehow a racial stereotype for Asians. I am all for getting rid of racism, but I just don't see it here. If anything, it seems like people maybe stereotyping Claude for looking like your typical "white English racist" and assuming he was referencing the racial stereotype for Asians and not referencing the Tottenham DVD of the past. If it was 100% a racist comment then I have no problem with him being gone. Can someone explain why they know he was referring to the racial stereotype and not an actual DVD? Thanks...

Not trying to be flippant, but I encourage you to go and read the last few pages of this thread rather than kick this conversation off all over again. The conversation was really had to death.

We need to get back to just laughing at them and their football club.

While you are correct that it isn't the same, due to the historical privilege white men especially have held over others, it's totally incorrect to try and play Troopz comment down as a "Joke"

Like with Claude, it was an unfiltered insight into their real thoughts, totally unsanitised in their usual scripted rants.
And not on at all.

If he'd shouted DVD at some random stage, then maybe it could be this excuse.

But he literally shouted "DVD's going off", as Son was being subbed.
ie DVD = a nickname for Son.

Absolutely undisputable what he meant, and taking a day to make up some pitiful excuse is a joke.

I didn't realize he said it when Son was being subbed. I thought he said it when he scored. Makes more sense now...Thanks

Hypothetically just assume we win tomorrow.

Would we definitely prefer City?

I still have nightmares over that battering Arsenal gave us last time we played. That's still tough to take even now.

I think both of you should learn how to read the post again rather than jump into conclusion on one sentence because this is upset me since you misinterpreted it. Do you only quote one sentence? Do you not read the whole post? Do you not read the next sentence?

The poster Rafaeldagold said that people who called about race should be considered racist. I'm trying to make example that it wasn't always the case, which I gave example why we mentioned "black lives matter" instead of "all lives matter".

Arsenal fan at work has been happy all week because they beat Liverpool. When I questioned why, as they’re 9th. He replied in a typical arsenal fan way by saying “next season, with no distraction, we will win the league next season and the FA cup this season”.

He also thinks the table is a lie and he would put Arsenal 3rd and us 4th

It wasn't Peter Storey was it? He was always fond of alternative league tables.

Does he hope that Brighton get relegated?

Seriously though, Troopz is having a cry right now. Few years ago, this lot would have sneered at the idea of winning an FA Cup.

I recall even Troopz saying 'Top Four & a FA Cup? Oh Woopie-fecking Do!!!'
