I wonder how much of their apparent decline is due to the sad death of their owner, which was less than two years ago? It must have dampened the spirits of the club, even though his son took over.

yep. Perspective.

Maybe the family have realised owning a football club is just a bit of recreation

They played well when they had a fully fit first 11 and were only playing once a week. As soon as they had to start playing a similar routine to their competitors they have completely crumbled.

Agree that with an ageing Vardy top 4 becomes more and more distant for them. No way can they bring in another striker of his quality who would stick with them for so long. They should be all over Ings in the summer. Also, in terms of missing personnel, losing Pereira has had the biggest impact on their season. Maddison's form had already dipped massively and Chilwell is ridiculously overrated in my opinion.
Good point about Pereira, and yes Ings, interesting player, that would be a very good move! Iheanacho I think is basically Jesus with slightly less spark, hasn't quite worked out.

They were mid table immediately the year after they won the league with said owner.

Besides, to be still in contention for a CL place at this stage can hardly be considered ‘decline’ for a club like Leicester. As long as they get some sort of European football they would have done very well this season.

Yeah, you probably won't recognise it if you're not from the UK, or even if you live further down south, but there definitely is one. Probably my least favourite accent, even ahead of Scouse!
It's like a very soft Stokey accent. Scouse is the worst by far.

Love the brown envelopes joke when we've been crap for the best part of a decade.

They’re a weird bunch over there. They think the league is corrupt. I guess the last 7 seasons haven’t happened. :wenger:

The real tragedy if Leicester qualified over us for the CL is that they'd suffer significantly in the league, drop out in the group stages and have an underwhelming season, I assume. Whereas it would spur us on.

Ward got the ball before he took down Martial. It isn't a pen. Oh, theyre talking about when Lindelof got the ball before he touched Zaha? My bad.

Jose parking the bus as usual
You fvcking lazy cvnt Perez
I hope Gray comes on before it is too late.
Need to stop the goal difference here **** sakes
Its sickening how easy we roll over.
Sack the **** now
Bennett literally inviting Kane to have a shot, absolute donkey
Absolute ****ing embarrassment.
At this rate we could end up beating United and still losing out on goal difference.

****ing inept.
Completely folded again
Europa League isn't that bad anyway.

Champions League is a waste of time.
And two United fans on commentary gloating, wonderful.
The commentating is condescending as ****. “Well they should be please with Europe” **** off

How many times have they been in Europe this past decade? Once?

They’re absolutely mental those lot. Apparently it’s all massive conspiracy against them getting top 4. Nothing to do with them picking up the same amount of points as Southampton since they beat them 9-0.

If UTD win UEFA Cup, FA Cup and finish in top 4 does 5th place in premier league get a place in Champs League?

You’d think these man would be ecstatic with their position regardless but they’re talking like they’re some big club. What the hell

It's always amazing how quickly fans reach a position of entitlement.

Oh come on, this IS condescending. Any club's fans would be annoyed if they threw away as big a lead as Leicester have done.

I can kind of understand some dissapointment because they were 14 points clear of 5th at one point....but equally here being realistic that squad was very obviously massively over acheiving and has more or less regressed to the mean. The 2016 title win was a once in a lifetime miracle but I guess their fans came to expect that now when this team hit on a similar run of form. More than likely at some point in the 2020's they will likely be relegated and really appreciate how lucky they've been.

Their players must be in on it as well, picking up injuries at vital times and deservedly getting bans.

I agree with you in a way. But Leicester never get into Europe anyway. So to dismiss then Europa League seems a bit strange

I hear what you’re saying, but these guys are calling their manager all sorts and asking for him to be sacked. I get that they had a lead at one point, but like, this is Leicester City FC. Rogers has them in contention/fighting for a CL place with only two fixtures left. What more do they want? Look at their squad, expenditure over the years, and stature compared to the clubs they are wrestling with.

This should be taken as their glory/golden years. They out here acting like Europa is beneath them.

Imagine it's 2014, Atletico Madrid just lost the CL final after leading until the 93rd minute. Imagine telling their fans that they should appreciate being runners-up because they never get into CL finals anyway.

It'd be a record amount of stabbing wounds.

If they were asking for Simeone to be sacked as a result, they would be top tier ungrateful bellends deserving of a humbling.

Fair enough, I don't disagree with that. They can be unhappy with losing out on the CL without demanding the sacking of the manager.

Not really the same comparison, you don't get anything for losing a cup final. Leicester aren't losing a cup final, they're most likely gonna finish 5th instead of 4th. It's still a good achievement for them.

If results were mixed and they were where they are, I don’t think the complaining would be so loud. It’s the nature of the drop off that is concerning them, and there is no point saying “it’s only Leicester”, any side would be disappointed, and I think they are right to be a little concerned.

Since the turn of the year...

Leicester 1-2 Southampton
Burnley 2-1 Leicester
Norwich 1-0 Leicester
Watford 1-1 Leicester
Leicester 0-0 Brighton
Everton 2-1 Leicester
Bournemouth 4-1 Leicester

I have left out dropped points against Chelsea, Arsenal, Wolves, Spurs and City.

It is really disappointing form from a side with aspirations for Europa League football and it’s elitist to suggest they should just suck it up and be happy with it.

It’s too early to call, obviously, but they have every right to be concerned. For as great as they were before Christmas, they haven’t just reverted to type, they have been terrible.
