Why does our club and our fanbase do this every time?

Why do we make excuses for players over and over and over again? When all the evidence is infront of your eyes
Same happened with Rooney, when it was clear he was over the hill.

Henderson can’t be any worse than this. Never see a gk decline in this way.

Because people are fanboys. Nobody made excuses for Sanchez. Deadwood after half a season and everyone hated him. But different if a player is here for a long time.

The new DDG contract was a catastrophic, sentimental decision. The warning signs were already there.

He really cant be any worse than de gea, de gea has cost us big time over two seasons now and wouldn't put it past him to screw up in our last two games.

He breeds no confidence in our backline.

De Gea needs dropped. Far too much at stake in the Leicester game. It's becoming negligence picking him when he's regularly churning out so many howlers

I'm not 100% sure Henderson is the answer but he definitely deserves it ahead of De Gea.

Everyone laughed when Mou said it.

Real had gotten Courtois and there were no other serious takers. BAM, new contract.

Can only imagine those that still rate him and want to him to be number 1 moving forward only do so because of what he's done pre 2017.

Last straw for me. Both weren’t difficult saves but he screwed them up royally. No idea why he started today and I think he should be dropped for the league games now

Give peas a chance.
Can really see the narrative in the media swinging towards Henderson being given a chance at being our #1. Already a few sports journos criticising DDG's performances and the money he's on. Will get to a tipping point I think, and it'll be a big decision for Ole to make. Stick or twist.

Why do people keep going on about moving DDG on? No club is going to buy a declining keeper on 400k a week.

We're stuck with him for better or worse.

Henderson is prone to mistakes as well. One more area that needs investment.

Until there is serious competition for De Gea will we never get the best out of him. Henderson needs to come in and start the first few games of the new league season. Get De Gea to buck his ideas up and it will make or break his legacy at the club. The worst that could happen is De Gea keeps buckling under the pressure when he returns and Henderson becomes the number one sell De Gea and subsidise his wages like we do for Sanchez. Best case he re-establishes his form and Henderson stays for cup matches.

I've always thought that if you give any PL goalkeeper ten shots to save per game they'll save most of them and look amazing. That's not the hallmark of a top goalkeeper for a big team. When we were at our worst defensively he was made to look better than he actually is.

It's not just his mistakes either, it's the timing of them. It was a series of his last season that cost us top 4, for example. World cup. Etc etc.

Add to that the fact that we regularly concede goals due to him being rooted to his line every cross, him being poor at playing with his feet at the back and poor communication with defenders and he's simply not good enough. The absolute minimum next season should be to have Henderson sat on the bench putting some real pressure on. Maybe that'll give him a kick up the arse.

Last straw for me regarding De Gea. Imagine if this were the Champions League Final and he gifted the opposition too goals like that. At least we know now he has to be replaced.

I really hope Ole has the balls to play Romero against West Ham. He should've been playing today.

Love DDG, great servant and all but he's done now.

I don't know the mechanics of what we'd need to do with loans and contracts but I'd like to blood Henderson in as soon as possible. I'm sick of feeling resentful of a United player I've hero-worshipped for years, it's time for a change.

No way was that third goal his fault. If he saved it it would have been an amazing save. 2nd goal was his fault, but not the 3rd.
First and second are his fault. Even though the first one does not look like it. Romero would easily save that.

Maybe not a big fault in itself, but definitely compounded by the two previous. I’m never impressed when keepers are beaten at their post.

Even with Henderson you will get the odd mistake but he’s a young keeper and already more reliable than the one you have currently.

Yes this. I'm not comparing him to Robert Green, but keepers like that have a spectacular save or two in them every other week.

What we need is a steady goalkeeper. Someone like Edwin Van De Sar.

We’re stuck with De Gea. Romero is clearly only regarded as a backup. So bring Dean back and give him the shirt to start next season with, it’s his to lose.

The shouldn’t be any doubt that he must be out No. 1 next season. If Ole persists with DDG he has no hope.

Starting to feel like De Gea is the one who should be loaned out, while Henderson gets the chance to be our first choice keeper next season. Could Henderson be crap for us too? Sure. Can't be any worse than this though.

thought last season was just an anomaly for De Gea, but now I think he's mentally gone.
