He’s been solid all season, one bad game doesn’t mean he’s lost all his promise.

Didn’t look ready to play today, in hindsight TFM should have played as he didn’t put a foot last vame
TFM should have played another 90 minutes 3 days after his first game in a year? He was knackered at the end of last game.

He had a good start with us and looked like he could even compete with Shaw or bench but after that it went totally down hill.

Not good today. Has to be thankful that De Gea's howler was bigger than his for the second Chelsea goal.

To be fair, the whole team looks knackered at the moment, but yeah didn’t think of that.

Bad mistake for their second goal. Looked like a man on a mission to atone for his mistake after that. Hopefully he will learn and grow from the mistake.

Shocker of a performance today, and aside from De Gea, he was the second worst for me. Gave the ball away countless times for nothing and of course the pass that lead to the De Gea howler.

He had a stinker today. Probably shouldn’t have payed after such a nasty head injury. Certainly looked still dazed.

I thought he was fine apart from the mistake which De Gea should have saved.

I'm not surprised by his performance today as my expectations of him was nowhere near as high as most of the chaps thought he could become, never thought he'd be good enough for Shaw's cover (let alone first choice).

I've always said we needed a left footed left back but nobody listened, lack of width and balance is extremely frustrating to watch, especially seeing most of our attackers are right footed down the left flank.

His second half was.
He stopped running.
He got scared.
Was confused.
Dropped his shoulders.
A lost boy in the second half.
0/10?
Come on.
I disagree that he stopped running. It was the opposite. He kept running.
He made a bad mistake and was poor. Criticise him, that's fine. But there is no need to go into hyperbole.

Explain yourself.

What did he do well in that game?

Bear in mind I like Williams and I think he can be a good player here. I'm talking about his display today.

I seriously question our medical staff, or whoever it was that gave him the go ahead. He looked like he was rushed back from injury too early.

Young players will always have hits and miss games, still with that said I'm not sure he'll be anything more than a solid squad player in the future.

Its probably time to get a left footer to either back up or challenge Luke Shaw and put Brandon at right back to back up or challenge Wan Bisakka.
I don't blame Brandon for the second goal but when you are pressed the way he got pressed for the second goal, the natural tendency is to make sure you have the ball on your favourite foot and if he was left footed he could have played the ball down the line and even though he was partly responsible, Dave should have saved that

His worst game in a united shirt. Can't be too harsh on the lad though. He's only young.

Lost his man to double Willian for first goal. First touch lost the ball. First pass to no one out of bounds. Hospital ball to Mount set up second goal.

He looks nifty going forward, but his defense has been suspect from the beginning. This was a terrible place to put him in, having to defend for 80 minutes.

Ashley Young would have been perfect for backing up Shaw, let Williams play the games where we get a lot of the ball and he doesn't have to defend for his life all game.

Jones would have been a better choice. You can hardly blame Williams, he's just not ready for that kind of match.

a couple of good games and he was put in the same breath as Luke. simply ridiculous. His role should be the backup of AWB. he is not a Left-Back..at best he is a Wing-Back. As soon as we moved back to back4, I knew we will be in trouble with Brandon

Was Shite today but he’s young and that’s what happens, so I can’t and won’t slag him off, it’s all part of the learning.

I'm not really going to trash the guy because:
  • He's playing out of position
  • He had a bad concussion
  • He's young
The club on the other hand should be ashamed. Where the feck Diogo Dalot? TFM? Do we have a natural left-back replacement?

Nothing special. He had the freshest pair of legs on the pitch and was still the worst player.

Williams shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Shaw. Williams is NOT a LB. He is a RB. He should be competing with AWB for the right side, and only be emergency back up on the left. This is why we need another LB at the club. LB's need to be left footed. RB's need to be right footed. It makes tackling easier, it makes passing easier, and it makes crossing easier. Williams had zero crosses today. And that's because every time he gets wide on a player he wants to cut back to his right foot. He has a promising future, but it's not on that side of the field...

Exactly. I remember someone mentioned only a week ago that Williams left foot is potentially better than Shaw when it comes to crossing ability

Was concerned when I saw him in the lineup. He’s just not United level for me, however, once they’ve crossed that white line for their debut, you’re basically not allowed to say that until they’re about 25, no matter what they look like in between. Even the most terrible is ‘only young, and there was a footballer once who was rubbish for years and ended up being a squad player here so there’s that’. It’s always an excuse. ‘First season, not natural position, was recently injured’. On reflection, the ones who were good enough were just good enough. From the beginning you could see that.

He was always a very outside bet to make it at United, never one of the really big hopes, and in the first team I just don’t see a talent of the level of the likes of Laird, Reece James etc - which is where the bar is set. He’s looked no better than Joe Riley looked when he played a few games for us under Van Gaal. I think if he were to play in the first team, this season was always too soon. He should have been going on loan this season ideally. He could not defend at all even in the reserves before he made his debut.

Just dire performance.

Shaw is a MASSIVE miss for us. He helps us a lot in possession and almost acts like a pseudo-midfielder for us lately.

Genuine question but what is he good at apart from giving 100% on the pitch? It all looks a bit Lee Cattermole to me.

He's seen as an option at LB but can't use his left foot. Cant't pass at all and doesn't even attempt to cross, my guess is it's probably because he can't. He also can't defend but he can fool you into thinking he's decent because he goes full pelt into challenges and doesn't hesitate to engage in 50/50 duels. Outside of that he's poor defensively, Willian schooled him today because he realised Williams is all blood and thunder and played to his rashness and lack of football IQ.

We always get excited about young defenders after a few decent performances but once their performance levels normalise we see there really isn't much quality. He's another version of Varela, CBJ, Mcnair and co.
