There’s worse pundits around for being bias and pricks (hi Graeme!), but surely there’s not one out there with such little football knowledge as Richards?

He reminds me of that kid at school who doesn’t watch football, but joins in conversations about it so he’s not alone at lunch time.

He says something stupid then just starts laughing ridiculously loudly to distract from further questions.

How’s he wiggled his way onto Sky? He makes Michael Owen look like a footballing Einstein.

I actually don't mind him, rather him then Jamie Rednapp or Graeme Souness having wanks about Liverpool every time they get a bit of television coverage.

He adds a few laughs here and there but he should be a lot less present, he doesn't bring anything when he has to "analyze" the game.

He’s clueless. It was great that time Keane took the piss out of him and he got his knickers in a twist and got all defensive about his career.
That whole “bursting onto the scene” dialogue was one of the funniest things I have seen in football. Keane’s look just before he says it was gold. How people can’t enjoy watching Keane in the studio I don’t know.

He serves as the perfect control for guys like this.

Keane can’t stand him because Richards was a joke at Villa. So bad they stopped playing him and he sat his contract out.

He can’t even sit up properly. He’s like your gobby mate’s mate who comes around, eats your Knoppers, and hogs the PS4.

“Gobshite” would have sufficed.

Same with Ashley Cole. I know sky are looking for black pundits. I’m sure there’s more intelligent ex black footballers than these two.
Oh God Ashley Cole has no opinion about anything.

There are a shed load of ex players who are very articulate and happen to be black. It's as if Sky just thought of some high profile ones and decided that they'd be perfect. Dion is brilliant on the BBC.. a natural in front of the camera

If he had watched Arsenal's earlier games then a few laughs would have been quite appropriate:wenger:
Same for Utd TBF

Not a great pundit but he has the best laugh I’ve ever heard. Let’s be honest, most pundits are dull without providing any insight. At least Micah’s likeable.

I’d laugh to if I earned all the cash he did for the work he did in the last 7 years of his career.

He’s a likeable character though.
Yeah he is likeable and there are more annoying pundits out there. It’s just that Micah is everywhere right now, similar to Alex Scott who is another one that doesn’t bring much insight.

He's a lovely lad though.
City biased beyond belief, doesn't know much, but it's football, how much do you need to know for goodness sake.

He's fine.

Keane can’t stand Richards cos Keane’s a fecking weirdo and Richards doesn’t take life too seriously. Much rather hear Micah say the most obvious and uninspiring stuff while having a joke than Keane talking about swinging punches at a teammate for making mistakes.

The bbc have a difficult job facing discrimination allegations, and still recoil from the Jimmy Savile and other situations, so you can understand them wanting to push as diverse a list of contributors as possible.

Yep. You do have to remember it is entertainment and a game at times.

Richards is still a decent "name", Man City don't have many pundits on their side, unlike the big clubs, and he seems a great character to get on with.
So personally, no issues at all.

I think Keane took down Richards because he was being up himself. I don’t think there have been any other instances that can be interpreted (or misinterpreted) between them. That takedown was a thing of beauty (no punches thrown).

Keane of the last few months has been comedy gold, just non stop taking the piss. Basically everything he says these days he does it with a wry little smile or gives little looks to Neville when mocking Souness. His dry sense of humour is brilliant and perfectly Irish.

People who talk shit about what he says clearly don’t understand dry wit.

I don't mind him, personally. His rapport with Linekar on the Beeb is great as well.

I've been waiting for this thread! Awful pundit, and it's quite a stretch to call him one at all. Just talks shite and laughs and laughs. So little football knowledge or insight you wonder why he's there. And he's everywhere too! Multiple platforms. Even if they're looking for a diverse team, surely there's so so many better options?! Including a good few already on the pundit circuit. Can't stand the guy!

He wasn’t being up himself at all, he said when he burst on to the scene and Keane took issue with it. Richards was the youngest defender to play for England, turned down a move to champions Chelsea as a teenager. Keane was just being an arse for no reason. If you hear Richards talk he’s very down to earth and humble, I remember at City he openly admitted Zabaleta deserved to be ahead of him several times.

Shame he wasn’t humble at Villa.

He's fine but like all pundits they wear thin the more you see them, none of them should get the gig for more than 2 years before they're booted for someone else.

I do hope he doesn't just become the Dunphy of Sky though;saying stuff just to be bloody contrary and playing to the stereotype. I like his abrasive style too much for him to become just plain disingenuous

He clearly was being up himself and took umbrage at Keane’s takedown and started touting his credentials. Of course, you would see Keane as being an arse and Richards as humble.

I think it's as much wanting to get a post-oil money City player on screen as much as anything else, and to be fair, the usual talking heads seem to almost all be United or Liverpool.

Christ help us when Joe Hart fancies a go.

Keane was smiling throughout the entire exchange. If Richards gets that touchy about such a harmless comment you wonder how he coped as a pro baller.

Just listening to Danny Gabbidon....way more articulate and impressive
