They had a great early run between second and third international break. Then they lost to City and didn't recover.
This thread is not about rationalizing or countering weird feelings...

My two cents..

AC Milan is still a Serie A top team which are just a nudge away from becoming contenders.

In the same category.. Inter could get Virgil, Messi, Kante and KdB this summer, but they would still feck up.

When you watch Athletic Bilbao play is always filled with small, ridiculous talented players which you always wonder when Barcelona is gonna snatch them, but then you look at the La Liga table and theyre always in the bottom half even though they win every match you catch on tv by chance
I'll never forget the battering they gave us

Posted it in the matchday thread, but it's better here.

When a team keeps drawing tactical fouls during a game, the other team always ends up getting the first booking of the game for their first or second foul.
Bump. 19-6 in fouls to Chelsea when Pogba got a yellow, I think?

They even knew how many goals they would score :(
To be fair, apart from the Norwich game, they've either scored 3 or conceded 3 in every game since they got their sponsors changed

West Bromwich has been one of the three Championship clubs to be promoted to the PL in every single season the past 16 years.

We haven't scored straight from a corner in the league since 2008.

A goalkeeper wearing a cap must be crap.

Every year an otherwise economically restricted team spends at least £25mil. on a crap Liverpool-player.

Glenn Murray has never in his life been below the age of 30.

Since the restart, the balls being used for matches seem harder and more plasticky than normal. Kicking it looks like it might actually hurt a bit.

Hulk is still 25 and is on the verge of signing for a top club soon.

Despite the top English teams having a vast scouting network across the UK, you will only be given a chance if you are a youth player born localy.
Examples - United Rashford and Lingard.
Chelsea - Loftus Cheek, Reece James, Hudson Udoi, Tammy Abraham.
Arsenal - Maitland-Miles, Saka
Everton - Davies, Kenny, Gordon, Deeney.
Spurs - Harry Kane.
Man City - Foden.
There's also plenty examply of very good players having to break through from their obscure local sides such as Dele Alli from Milton Keynes Don's.

Everton spend £200m on 6 players each summer. Two seasons later, only one/two of those remain at the club

Well isn’t that because of the catchment area rules for the academies so the majority of youth set ups will be local lads.

Brighton haven't won a single game this season, just draws and losses.
I know this isn't the thread for it but I remember one sweet victory just after lockdown.

Re-watched some Euro 2004 highlights these and my findings are

- Every Croatian player has long wet hair with a lace around their head

- Helder Postiga, Maniche and Costinha only existed in Euro competitions

- Sven Goran Erikson looks like exact same now as he did in 2004
You can add Nuno Gomes to that list.

Along with some potent Colombian strikers who you never hear about during the World Cup or any other international competition. In fact, they belong to an interesting subset of South American players who seemingly never played for their national teams nor ever played in their home countries (I'm thinking of your Jardels, your Elbers, your Belletti, your Roque Santa Cruzes...)

Newcastle have never had a game plan or a playing style.

No matter who is in charge, Chelsea will always same the exact same brand of football that they did under Mourinho in 2004-07.

All of Lazio's daytime games are played in front of empty stands.

We played West Brom in the Premier League this season and every time we play the hawthorns, it's dark. Except for the 5-5 which is the only time West Brom have ever scored 5 goals

Since leading Man Utd, Danny Wellbeck has only scored past teams he has previously played for.

Maybe not weird. But Silva should he celebrated. What a player. Wanted him at United ever since I saw him at Valencia. Shame he spent a decade at City.

Every season in England Chelsea vs Arsenal is the final of something and it's never resulted in a memorable game.
Arsenal and Chelsea haven't had a memorable game since Wenger left

Off the top of my head the last memorable one is when Chelsea scored 6 against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge
