We need Fred against pressing teams. Pogba is a disaster waiting to happen at the back. Fitness gone...afterall he's missed most of the season and his his pre-season fitness work is gone.

Ole is an idiot. Against West-Ham he could clearly see were were being outran in midfield and should have replaced both Pogba and Matic but instead just sat there twiddling his thumbs.

Pogba should not start in a double pivot for this game. Pogba against pressing teams will get dispossessed on the ball. He's our CM that's been the most dispossessed. Pogba Is also shit defensively and we are not playing some lower team where they wouldn't attack us.

I don't know why I decided to open this thread, but I'm leaving with one thought:

"You're all a bunch of miserable, entitled, pessimistic fecks".

I, personally, cannot wait for this game. We've not lost in the league, since I think, January? Leicester are in WAY worse form than we are, and have to contend with injuries to their key players.

Yet. . . here we have people expecting and anticipating a loss. . .

.....because we've proven to be bottlers when the pressure sets in

They've been in top 4 though. Bottom line is no matter the team you can't bet on us not bottling our chances to qualify
What the hell difference does that make? What would you be saying about United had we been in their position (15pts clear in 3rd), but now sit in 5th going into the last game? Would you say we weren't bottlers?

Don't you get it? Only Man United are bottlers. All evidence to the contrary is to be dismissed.

Not until we completely crash out. Would you say they bottled top 4 if they beat us Sunday? General consensus will be they almost did

Why can't we go to a midfield 3 with Matic as DM, with Fernandes and Pogba ahead of him. This 4-2-3-1 is getting us overrun in midfield. The likes of Ndidi and Tielemans will be looking to run this game.

Would you say that we are bottlers if we win on Sunday? It's the same. You have called us bottlers before thee final game, so why can't the same be said for Leicester before the final game?

There are so many fragile people in this thread. The team isn’t you, it’s a bunch of other people. Their success and failure is not your success or failure.

Man Utd are clearly in the better position going into this match, Leicester are without key players including both full backs, their form has fallen off a cliff, and United are unbeaten in yonks. It will be about going for the throat and getting that goal in the first half. We know that if the team attempts to back off and defend it invites pressure, and that’s been the case despite differing personnel for the past few years.

This is the real cup final and all I hope is the team doesn’t bottle it as in two recent failed CL qualification attempts. Staying on the front foot, trying things, being bold, this match should not be a problem.

Key match-ups (feel free to disagree, I’m just thinking aloud!)

    Vardy vs Lindelof
Vardy is lightning quick and aggressive, and will try to get in down Lindelof’s channel. Lindelof needs to step in aggressively to the ball at the right times but stall him and wait for support if he finds himself one v one, which will happen at least a couple of times.

    Fernandes vs Ndidi
Ndidi will attempt to cut down Bruno’s passing options, block central space, and harry him into errors and turnovers. Bruno needs to pick pockets of space slightly wider without treading on Rashford and Greenwood’s toes and get some quick passing going. He will probably also drop a bit deeper in search of those angled passes into the centre forward/10 position he likes. That could lead to a disjointed attack if he can’t get possession up the pitch.

    Pogba vs Tielemans
This is more a case of who performs better than a direct match-up. Each is a powerful elegant midfielder who will look to pass forward quickly and get involved in attacking play. One of them could decide the match, who turns up? Who gets closed down better? These performances will go a long way to determining who gets to play out into the space out wide, which is where damage can be done.

    Martial vs Morgan
I may be wrong, but I think Morgan will be starting at the centre of Leicester’s defence. Martial is in the form of his life. So long as he doesn’t get clattered early and lose heart, which has happened before, to me this is the match-up where United win the game. Martial’s movement and incisive passing will be too much. But Wes has leadership skills, presence and has won the title before....

West Ham and Southampton have genuinely been in better playing form than Leicester are right now.

I'm confident if we play our attacking game, and utilise the end to end style of game, ie, stay strong at the back, snuff out their attacks, and allow Pogba/Bruno to operate in the middle with quick forward passing into space, our strikers will have a field day.

    I'm going 1-3 United.

Worth noting - We're really missing Luke Shaw aren't we. He adds a very good balance on the left hand side, he overlaps Rashford and adds an extra dimension allowing Rashford to overload into the box.

This is a myth. He's one of the PL's best midfielders. As long as he keeps his hands to his side and plays his game going forward I think he'll play an important part in a win here.

It's not a myth if the stats suggest otherwise. He's poor defensively and he has the tendency especially when he's fatigued to give the ball away in dangerous positions. Every player has flaws.

had a very vivid dream last night -

    We drew 1-1
Williams broke a high line of defence wide left and darted down the left wing - wide out on the line - Crossed near the byline and one of our black players stabbed it home. I couldnt tell which one as my stream was blurry. Ighalo or Rashford, Pogba or Martial I dont know. But we scored and it was near the end.

Whistle goes to end game at 1-1 and massive brawl ensues at the edge of the tunnel entrance. Sky Cameras all over it.
Then it stops as quick as it starts as someone runs out and says Wolves have beaten Chelsea so its all good.

Might need to counter attack for this game. I already know Ole will play the same team plus shaw if he is fit.

Was more nervous ahead of the the Southampton and West Ham matches.

I think I accepted that we probably wont be playing CL football next season via the final league standings.
Just kept shooting ourselves in the foot in those two games which dented alot of optimism I had for this final fixture.

    Interesting.

Ole recently said he's using only two systems 4231 and 352.

Either Ole will copy the Spurs's approach with 352 or we go head to head with Leicester's 343 attacking possession game with 4231.
That's correct. We were pretty much exclusively 4-2-3-1, but a lot of our attacking play in that formation came from the full-backs, so the switch to 3-5-2 I think was partly down to the injury of Ricardo (and then chillwell), and partly to allow us to play Perez more centrally, as Vardy was becoming very isolated up top, and Perez really doesn't operate well wide.

I couldn't predict what Brendan will go for here though. I feel 4-2-3-1 might be better for us (Bennett has been a calamity for us, so a back four of Thomas, Morgan, Evans and JJ), especially after watching the Spurs game, but who knows with Rodgers really.

I feel if even two of our front three are on form we will win this game. Leicester's defence is threadbare at present, I don't think they'll hold together at all with the likes of Rashford, Martial and Greenwood running at them. We should get really aggressive at the start and go 3v3 to try to put their CB's under pressure.

Could see McTominay coming back in for this game; we could use his energy.

Pretty confident we will get at least a point, but I really, really want us to win so we can finish the season on a high and clearly in 3rd place.

This sounds more like a premonition to me.

Its all good guys Mr McGrathSipan has eased all our nerves. Us and Leicester will qualify for top 4 sunday. He is hero we needed in these pessimistic times! ;)

Yeah same here. I just want it over with so we can focus on trying to save CL qualification via the Europa League.

Fred was awful against Chelsea. I wouldnt trust playing him against Leicester.

Play our best 11. Play with energy and intent. Win the second balls. Leave everything out there on the pitch.

We have the quality to see this through. Let go.

Something has gone wrong when you start having vivid dreams like this. You have either emotionally invested yourself way too much or the thought about the game is stressing you out.

Evans was lucky to not be sent off a couple of matches ago. We should get at him and he will crumble. Probably a couple of pens in this match.

My biggest concern is actually who the ref is. You just know Vardy is going to break against one of our CBs and 'respond to contact'.

If it's Mike Dean we're fine, as he's shown he no longer gives cards. If it's someone like snivels (Michael Oliver)I'll be pretty worried.

He doesn't give cards to Chelsea - he immediately produced the yellow card when Pogba looked at one of their players the wrong way.

Atkinson. Just as bad. Used to screw us over vs Chelsea in every title race back in the days. Pretty sure he was in charge of the disasterclass vs Pompey in the FAC too. Guy is from Leeds and hates us.
