Came in to say nice to see him recover from the Chelsea game, but saw a barrage of criticism against him instead. Really don't understand the caf..
He didn't have a good game though. I honestly thought it was odd that Ole replaced TFM first because TFM was getting in better positions compared to Williams. He wasn't helping out the attack at all. Shaw isn't some great attacking player either, but he gets in positions which help out Rashford.

I don't see how anyone could be surprised that people thought he was poor. Almost the entire team was.

Go on then, start picking.
He was getting demolished left and right yesterday and you wonder what match some people saw. Its no coincidence that our form dipped after he replaced Shaw. He is simply not ready at PL.

Had a tough game, but he was against an in-form player. He has been more than decent enough to fight for his place against Shaw (who I believe is much better) and try and prove himself next season. He's 19 and in his rookie season, he'll only get better and I think him and Shaw in the squad mean that that position is sorted for the near future at the very least

It's all relative. I thought TFM was having an awful game.

A lot of criticism about William is that he kept drifting inwards, but I'm pretty sure that is the manager's instruction to create space on the wing for Rashford. Shaw does the same in some games too. Against WestHam, I think the idea is to isolate their right back against Rashford. Unfortunately, Marcus was having a bad game too.

Defensively, Williams had both good and bad moments. It seems that the bad moments stick out more for some people. I thought he was ok, decent-ish. Considering his age, I focus more on the mental aspect of him recovering from the previous game. In the context of the game, he was also not among the worst performers. Pogba, Rashford and Bruno were. I would also include TFM but he only played one half.

For the record, my opinion of Williams is he can be a useful squad player for us. I'm not of the view that he can be our long term left back. Prob someone similar to Phil Neville in the past.

Edit: yes Shaw is a much better player butt probably even more maligned than Williams here. If fit, I'll always prefer him over Williams.

I think he will be good enough attacking wise in the future - he has good technique and vision, and is very fast. His defensive improvement will decide if he can challenge Shaw long term.

Mensah offered nothing in that 1st half, the right position but offside means nothing. Williams created chance for Greenwood in first half, that's not nothing. I thought Williams was alright. There were some good & bad moments in the game but not fully bad ones like Mensah.

Williams was completely dominated by Bowen; not Ronaldo, Bowen. There is no other way to describe it other than a dreadful performance. I don't think Bowen even had a great game; he wasn't particularly nimble with the ball or quick with his feet, but he didn't need to be. No matter how slow Bowen's moves were, Williams fell for it pretty much every time.

His attacking game was not much better. He gave away possession quite a few times when we were up the other end of the pitch. I don't see how that performance can be described as anything but awful.

I do think there are massive question marks over his defending. He has been dominated quite a lot of times against what are average wingers. It isn't just struggling; it is complete domination. That is a concerning sign.

I myself think he is pretty average and people were getting way ahead of themselves after a few games, and saying he is better than Shaw. Shaw had pretty much only turned 19 when he was put in the PL team of the year.

Have to agree, saw someone say they gave him a 7/10 performance for the game which I find ludacris. He was poor and there isn’t any world in which he got a 7/10.

I was baffled to think some thought he played well vs West Ham. He was awful in defence, attack and general game play. Bowen had his way with him just as Willian did the game before. The most worrying thing about him is he seems he has no clue on how to defend.

Think the kid had a solid game today. I’ve said what I think of him often enough, but he didn’t let himself or the team down today. Credit to him.

Good game. I was a bit worried after his performance against West Ham but he did well today.

I was worried about Brandon today after his recent performances but he showed proper bottle today. Defended really well. Mid-season Brandon came back at just the right time.

A few days ago he was "a Championship player" according to quite a few on here.

He's a fecking fighter and he'll do well for this club.

Best thing was the yellow for the tackle at the end. Poor player. He needs to improve a lot.

I know he has his haters on the Caf, but Williams is actually exceptional for a player of his age. I hope he doesn’t come on here and read some these cringey posts.

One of the few players who was up for it and played with passion. Threw his body on the line several times and looked genuinely happy. That's what we need more of instead of players who couldn't motivate themselves for such an important match.

He'll become a good squad option for us the next few years which should be good enough for him. Good option to have.

Unlike Luke Shaw he's not forever injured and at least can play full matches with decent fitness levels.

For a 19 yr old playing in one of the highest pressure matches of the season he was excellent today - his speed of thought and pass are a pleasure to watch - can only get better

Very very harsh. He probably isn’t ready to be starting for us but he did very well today. I see a future for him here. He certainly has the right mentality.
He did what he could, but there's enormous room for progression. Too hesitant and scared at times. He needs to play like he belongs.

He stands still too often and watches the game or makes the wrong decision very often.

You do what you can, but sometimes, what you can is not enough.

Needs to bulk up.

His attitude is fantastic. Got great fight in him. Held his own in game of the season when likes of Maguire were chickening out

I absolutely love this kid. Reminds me of Nev breaking through where his mentality is just on a different level, and that makes up for his lack of natural talent.

I keep saying it, his mentality is top notch. Technically he is good, but once he fills out a bit more he will start being better in attacking play as well.

I have been very impressed with his maturity overall, in the reserves he had a bit of hot headedness but none of that since his debut.

When an attacker goes at Awb im confident that the attacker will be stopped... with Williams i have the complete opposite. Williams works hard and tries but he seems to lack some quality/talent to be a starting Manchester United player. Maybe he improves but Shaw is the much better player.

Did well considering what a huge game it was and how young he is but man we really missed Shaw in the last 3 games.
We do need new full backs regardless. We play so much from the back and its really really hard when your full backs cant be depended upon.
Still leave that aside now, the kid did amazingly well in his last game.

He is a very competent player, good backup for Shaw. I particularly like his courage and mental strength. 19 year old playing in such a high stake game, he acquitted himself well

I didn’t like his positioning today. When Rashford was out wide he moved into central positions to which Leicester could deal with because they were playing so narrow. Other than that I thought he was good
