Another lightweight like Gomes, if we want a squad option then Fraser from Bournemouth gets my vote.
Eugh...can we have a bit more ambition please? Fraser has one goal and four assists this season. Clearly nowhere near our level and nowhere near Coman's class. Coman himself would give serious pause for thought given his injury record and the potential for him to retire mid-way through a contract.

We have too many plodders in our squad as is. That's why we have been forced to play our first XI in every single game since the break. For our squad players, we should only aim to recruit young guys with the potential to replace a first team starter within a few years. This gives them something to fight for when they get an opportunity. We also need to be more ruthless in getting rid of the guys that aren't going to make it so at least we can generate some additional transfer budget.

This is obviously a hyperbole, but how much of a hater would I be if I said that I find it hard to predict whether it's more likely he will succumb to injuries or turn into a dominating player in the next 2-3 years? I think it would make a lot of sense for Bayern to find some "sucker" from the PL who pays say €40m-€50m then go and use half of that money and the promise of being their 3rd choice winger or impact sub to lure in the next Sancho.
His injuries were many, but they had all kinds of different causes. So, it's not unreasonable to hope it was just a long streak of bad luck. He's been great for us whenever he stayed fit for longer period.
Going with a 2nd tier player as our third wing option, when the first two are injury prone already, doesn't sound very smart to me at all if you want to be among the very top sides out there.
I rate him, he's one of the best and fastest dribblers out there, and so does the club. And that's why he'll continue to wear our kit.

Looks like a coordinated leak by our club to put pressure on Dortmund on Sancho or could be a list of alternative targets if we don’t get champions league.
it is not mutually exclusive options. Quite the contrary: we don’t know that we will get Sancho, and will have to explore other possibilities simultaneously. Sometimes it will be to our advantage if it gets known, sometimes not.

Who do you want to buy for €20-25m that is good enough to play for Bayern in the CL? Absolutely no one.
Bayern would be stupid to rely on Gnabry and Sané alone. Especially with the latter coming back from a bad injury. And thank you, but we have seen enough of Perisic.
I am not even a big fan of Coman (too injury prone, headless decision making, not enough end product) but there is no one put there for €20-25m who‘d do a better job.

Mitten isn’t usually one for going with transfer stories. And he’s pretty open about clubs just using rumours for their advantage. Could definitely see it being a leak from United to pressure Dortmund into selling Sancho.
Woowoo is so clever. This will backfire horribly and we will end up with Coman

Well assuming that his injuries will persist the logic is that he may be a good player for Bayern when fit, but even Messi is useless when injured. So there is some sense in using his slot to lure some super gifted kid that could otherwise be too scared of sitting on the bench to make a move to Bayern.

Perisic has 16 goal contributions in 1540 minutes. You couldn't ask for much more from a squad player. Would be great if he stayed, too.

Buying another right footed player is just stupid if Sancho deals just postponed.

I'd only be happy with another left footed forward or winger to balance out the wings if Sancho is joining us in a different transfer window.

Cant be stocking up on Sancho, Martial, James, Rashford who are all greater on the left than the right by varying margins.
Thumbs up for this post. I totally agree. Rashford is playing as left winger now. Rashford and Martial are switching place during the match. And James can do a decent job as left winger too. James start good as left winger, but dip in form. Maybe of the confidence.

RW you have Greenwood, who is best to be and around the box to bang in goals. Then you have Mata and Lingard as other rw options.
Unless you are a really close to world class rw in Gnabry, not many right foot winger bang in many goals. Behind Gnabry it is Sancho. Who is more a dribler than Gnabry who go straight to the goal.
Behind those 2. There are not many right foot players on a really high level. Even Federico Chiesa is best as left winger too.

Then you have Kai Havertz who is best suit as a free cam. A free nr.10. So, the only left foot winger who has a really high level. Right now. Is the 32 left player. A gift left foot player. Playing for Atalanta.
Ilicic has score 15 serie A goals and 5 goals in champion league. At the age of 32. He will take off the responsibilities of Greenwood and take of the pressure from Greenwood. Even he is dealing good with the pressure. Scoring a important goals against West Ham.
And example. When Ilicic retires at 35, hopefully longer on top level. Then Greenwood turn 21. And hopefully during that time. United have impress enough to attract the best players and talent out there. So maybe has come before that 3 years.

So pontential line up with Ilicic.

Ilicic/Greenwood - Bruno/Ilicic- Martial/Rashford + Greenwood/Rashford/Martial/Ilicic

So with Ilicic. Then it is a level up from Ighalo as another CF options. With Ilicic height. He will bring more trouble to opponents defend. And with his height. United can play long ball or high crosser from the wide. When United are behind and need goals, in the end of the game. The hoof, long balls and crosser are plan B.

United have so many attacking players whos are good on the ground now. Josip Ilicic click all the boxes. A value buy. With Ilicic, United will have a lot more of strings to play with. Ilicic is like a good top hand in poker. It will give you more options and higher chance to win the match.

To end it. Josip Ilicic. At age of 32 suit better United squad right now. A 32 Ilicic might accept rotations more than a 26/27 Ilicic. Who will always want to play then.

If not Sancho. Like this guy. United should go for a top and gift left foot player in Josip Ilicic. Quality Insurance. Money back if United are not satisfy with him.
And hopefully he is ready and fully fresh and fit against PSG. Then I think it will be a little difficult to handle Ilicic. Ilicic max level. That man is tall. But he is really skillful, composure and really sharp. If you give him a bit of space and time outside the box. Then you are done. 2-3 second to aim his shoot. He is a left foot sniper. Then you have been warned.

Josip Ilicic from Slovenia is the name. United need, beside Sancho. Sancho can goes and rotate as LW in need. Then you have Ilicic and Sancho on the wide sides, as many many solutions and options of line up. The top quality and level is with Ilicic, clearly as day.

For every Sancho there are 10 Sinan Kurts and Emre Mors. The problem is to pick the correct talent and not that having Coman would scare everyone away. I mean we are talking about someone who should be able to play 2000 minutes and potentially start (or at least be subbed) in important knock-out games. Even if nobody is injured, an in-form Coman is certainly able to compete for a starting spot. Sane has still everything to prove and Gnabry can be a bit streaky.

It will be interesting to see what Ole has planned for Chong;
Regardless of what posters think of him Ole has resigned him on a three year deal and I would wait to see if he is going on loan or going to stay with the first team squad next season before any other winger apart from Sancho comes in.

I would say there is a difference between someone like Kurt or a kid from Denmark and the the supposed best talents of their year. And I do think playing time is a deciding factor if they happen to be on the market. Why else would Dortmund be able to attract them over far richer clubs?

Obviously you have to invest some time and patience into them, but on the other hand they also offer you the chance to grow into a better and more reliable (in terms of health) player than Coman is currently.

Bayern took a somewhat similar chance on Davies and it payed off big time.

Chong should go on loan to a championship club and gain some experience.

My own instinct is that its so they can get a transfer fee out of him. Unfortunately, I don't really think he's got much of a future at the club but I've been dead wrong about some players in the past so hopefully I'm proven wrong with him too.

Singh, OBM, Musiala and Tillman will be training with the first team from now on. That's 4 prospects for the wings right there to invest time and patience in.
Meanwhile we also want to win silverware of the ear shaped sort in the nearby future. For that, you need quality options. And Coman is quality, hence we did not agree with Pep to swap him for Sane.

Christian Falk - Tier 1 for Bayern has said this is not happening. Bayern wouldnt consider him as part of the Sane deal and have no intention of letting Coman go.

I agree, a year loan at a good Championship side is the way to go and I think he will be doing well if he can command a regular spot in one and we then take it from there.

Coman is the type of player every club rates and every club seems to let go, a bit like our own amazing Danny Welbeck back in the day. Juventus rated him highly back in the day and fans were shocked when the club sold him. They were sure that once at Bayern he'll become a legend there. Guess what? He didn't

Regarding plodders, well, even at our very best, we never had world class wingers sitting on the bench. We won the treble with Blomqvist who was AC Milan reject. Meanwhile we won the 3rd CL with Park and Nani, the former was a plodder and Nani was talented but lazy.

Fraser can play on the right and on the left flank. He's relatively young, he's a free transfer and he had proven himself that he can do it in the EPL. He suffered from a dip in form this season but so did most of his mates, which kind of suggest, that the issue can't really be pinned on him. In my opinion he's the sort of signing Sir Alex would do to act as cover/competition for Sancho or Greenwood.

What Sir Alex did or did not means feck all. He'd win the league with me and you in midfield. Ole or anyone else for that matter aren't in the same class so we need to give them what they need, not what Sir Alex would have managed with. I don't care about the Coman discussion because Bayern won't sell him but to suggest fecking Fraser is a better option or make decisions based on what Sir Alex would have won with is absolutely bollocks. Btw, Coman is 24 but well done on the imaginary Juve thought he'd be a bayern legend and he isn't already nonsense to make some weird point.

Don't think we are seriously in for Coman. Sancho is the top target and even if we don't get top 4 I think we will sign him. The Sancho links are too strong and he has friends at club like Rashford. Our main priority should be getting deadwood out. Look at Liverpool they have somehow managed to get rid of Lovren in a very quick efficient manner.

Signing Coman would be like signing Sanchez all over again. Don't rate Joe Frazer, players like David Brooks and Dwight McNeil are better players. We should seriously look at the three clubs that go down and target their best players. Players of the quality of Robertson and Winjaldum etc can be got.

He left Juve since their 352 setup didn’t have a spot for pure wingers. It was quite stupid going there in the first place to be honest. And he left PSG since he didn’t see a way into their team even as an academy graduate. A problem that still persists at PSG since they are still losing prospects left and right every transfer window.

Surely if he is good enough to play for Bayern, he is good enough to be backup to our MMM attack?

Question is, how much would he cost though?

I don't think he'd be a backup in your squad. A fit Coman is lethal, he'd probably bench Rashford since they're playing in the same position. Unfortunately, with Coman "fit" is a big "if" since he's probably the most injury-prone winger since Arjen Robben - possibly even worse.

He also won't join you to be third fiddle. Makes no sense to leave Bayern because he fears the competition from Sané and then join you as a backup player.

I don't know which wide player would be benched but he would most likely bench someone. The ability that he has to beat his man and create havoc is on par with Dembélé, what separates them is that Dembélé is more likely to score goals and assists while Coman will do his defensive job like a traditional winger but lacks end products mainly because he isn't greedy enough, too often he looks for a better positioned teammates instead of shooting or trying the killer ball.

Every tom dick Harry benches Rashford
The problem with Rashford is that while he is excellent when in form his floor is quite low when out of form, it's a bit like Nani who was immovable when in form and unstartable when out of form. If we sign Sancho it's not a given that Greenwood will be the one losing his spot, it's likely but not a forgone conclusion.

It's also not given that Sancho will replicate his Dortmund form at ManUtd either. It's not even about Sancho, it's about Coman. He won't bench Rashford.

That's your opinion and I don't disagree because I feel that Rashford gives us more than Greenwood in our general play. It's the right side that would require an upgrade in the short term despite Greenwood's excellent goalscoring record. Though Greenwood could quickly improve in that department and make himself immovable.

Well I don't think we will bench Rashford for Coman, and I don't think anyone here will honestly think so too. But Coman will be good squad player option for sure

Yes, in which case Coman would be warming the bench if we sign him.

If we sign Sancho then I can see everyone getting many games, with Rashford, Greenwood, Martial, Sancho being capable of playing in many positions.

Coman can also play in many positions, he plays the same positions Sancho plays, so I don't really follow your point here unless if you think that Coman is not very good.

Coman is good player, he isn't good enough to bench Rashford was my point.

If we sign Coman he will also play many games as he can play many positions, I should have added that.

Bench a player who scores 17 league goals & 7 assists. It won’t be easy for sure.
