Rumors that we have about 100- 150m kitty. We are third and this is probably the most important window in many years.

Ed made a mistake in not supporting Jose when we got 2nd. We can't make that same mistake again and think we are good enough for next season. We have some very glaring weakness and hope we get this sorted out this window.

Very interested to see how would we spend this 100-150m the summer.

If Woodward had supported Mourinho's vision, we wouldn't have had our arguably best player (Martial) today.

The problem wasn't that Mourinho wasn't backed financially, it was that his short-term plan for success was a solely self-serving plan that would be detrimental to the club in the long run. The best sporting decision Woodward ever made, except for sacking Mourning (and van Gaal and Moyes), was to stand up to Mourinho and insist that United had to invest in a future beyond Mourinho's mercenary stay.

With CL football secure, we are going to spend big!
Lets hand Dortmund 100m cash on the table for Sancho, to make a good statement!

The guy literally spent the similar amount of money that Klopp spent in their first three seasons (360m-370m). If that's not supporting enough for Mourinho then he was just doing a shite job in this club and should join PSG or City where he can splash money randomly on wrong players and still forgivable.

Big summer now. Ole has done the job on the pitch, and now he has the right to go knock at EDs door. He has proven what he can do with XI good players. We need to take that number to 17-18. Need to make sure that injuries like the one to Pogba/ Martial/ Marcus doesn’t make us look average.

No idea who would be available but I'd like a goalkeeper. Not convinced Henderson is ready and De Gea is done. A Matic replacement and a RW would be nice too. Anything else is a bonus. If we keep Smalling I'd be happy to prioritise other areas.

Woodward was correct in vetoing some of the rubbish moves Mourinho wanted to pull off. He should do the same if Ole starts dreaming of the likes of Declan Rice which I don't think he will.

It's an important window no doubt but every summer is important and full of hope of improvement. We've got a strong foundation in this team, crucial that we add 3-4 quality players to take us up a level or two, like Chelsea appear to be doing with their business.

I think we'll need another CB, only Lindelof and Maguire seem capable of staying fit for more than 5 minutes.

That's just luxury.
Even if De Gea goes tits up, we still have Henderson and not to mention Romero.

Sancho, Grealish, CB and a LB replacement.

Sancho, a MF and a covering LB for me.
100% although someone of high quality who could play either full back would be the dream. Are you thinking of Grealish as the MF, or someone more “midfield”?

Buying a goalkeeper is not a need whatsoever. We have De Gea, who's still one of the best. Henderson in the ranks who everyone knows will be the starting goalkeeper and future of England? I don't understand this concern whatsoever.

A goalkeeper is not a superhero. We need to sort out our centre-backs that play infront of our keepers. Defensive midfield since Matic is getting old.

Yea Grealish or VDB. Someone who can cover two or three positions, but mainly as cover for Bruno in the 10.

I think you are wrong about Rice to be honest he would be astute addition to our team only concern is we might have to overpay due to him being English.

Should have supported Jose that season. No second questions on it. We were on CL and it was one of the best opportunities to bring in quality players. Instead we got Fred and we all know what happened after that.

Supported him and swapped Martial for Willian?

Brilliant move that would've been

Again, not sure why we keep going back on Jose here. We should have strengthened that summer . Be it Jose or anyone else. We had CL and it was the best finish since SAF . We just didn't take it.

De Gea is far from one of the best, you're deluded if you believe that. I like the look of Henderson but it would be a big risk making him our #1at this stage in his career. It's one thing doing it at Sheffield Utd and another at Old Trafford. If he made a howler here like he did a few weeks ago he would've been under a lot more scrutiny.

Borderline done with this forum. We just qualified for the CL against the odds and you lot all focus on the negatives and the past.

The only really weird thing about this Mourinho-Woodward window is that Woodward decided to not sign Maguire as he thought he was overpriced then next year he went on and paid 80m for him. Was really bizarre to see. If we had signed Maguire in this window, we would have had extra 80m the next summer to spend on another player and be in a much better place today.

Otherwise there's no problem with Ed blocking transfer requests from the managers and they definitely shouldn't have a free pass to do what they want overall, because no manager is staying here long term imo, not even Ole.

But the Maguire deal was just bizarre and terrible planning from Woodward imo.

Deluded? Who's available that is better? Who's deluded? Is that where we should spend?

Exactly the point. Thead isn't really about Jose or his failures. This is the second highest finish in 8 years. Ed , if trusts Ole has to spend heavily and just not sit on one signing like we had for Fred. Again, it doesn't have to be the players what Ole need but he has other footballing experts who could advice as needed.

And repeated the same trick with Bruno the following summer!
Ditto were were in for Sancho last summer too.

I see a trend!

Who said anything about Willian or Martial ? Point is, we had an opportunity to attract the players which we blew.

Isn't it well documented that Sancho wanted UCL football and hence turned us down?

Sancho is an absolute priority, A DM to rotate with Matic and CB to partner Maguire would put us in good enough shape to challenge. After that you are looking at someone to rotate with Bruno and a full back to get minutes on either side but these are not crucial.

100-150m budget is laughable if we really want to build a team capable of challenging for the PL. We need Sancho and a starting CDM as a must. Those 2 positions would cost minimum 150m.
