Now the relegation issues has been decided, interesting to see which players are targeted? Usually there is a star player in a side relegated, but dont really see any here but potential now Grealish has stayed up. But do think there could be some good cheap options for a few sides:

Ismaïla Sarr - Still only 22, has shown signs of his talent in his first season in the premiership

Abdoulaye Doucouré - 27 and for me probably the best of the defensive midfielders that never get mentioned in the premiership. Personally think he is just as good as the likes of Ndidi

Ben Godfrey - 22 Obviously a very difficult season and the way Norwich have tried to play has put big pressure on the likes of Godfrey. Think he has very good potential though

Max Aarons - Had not seen him before this season really even though knew him as so highly rated. SImilar to Godfrey though personally think he looks a little over rated myself

David Brooks - Obviously coming back from injury we have seen little of him post lockdown, looked very promising before the injury though

Nathan Ake - Had a very good season and looks a good defender, maybe ready for a step up again now

Emi Buendia - Had a good season and probably a bargain for a premiership side looking to move above mid table, somebody liek Newcastle for example

Also a few others WIll Hughes, Troy Deeney, Defalou, Cantwell, Lewis Cook etc etc

Brooks for me, really hope we go for him. Would be such a smart pickup to add some quality depth in the AM positions for a reasonable fee. Buendia too.

Cantwell as a lingard replacement perhaps? Only if we could get a cut price deal though.

What about the goalkeepers. If Romero moves on and Henderson spends another season at Sheffield, we might need a good No2.
Krul, Ramsdale and Foster are all good options

I'd take Sarr and Brooks now.

If Buendia was available cheap I'd take him as a squad player. He's very talented. Wouldn't go near anyone else. They're not at Utd level. Some decent players for Everton-level imo. No idea why people are saying Aarons. He's been absolutely pathetic in the Premier League. Clearly only being mentioned because of the reputation he had when they got promoted from the Championship.

Lots of decent options this year for me.

Either of Brooks or Buendia would make terrific rotation options, something we desperately need on top of a Sancho style RW.

Doucoure could also be a smart purchase.

If Abdoulaye Doucouré is a defensive midfielder then Luke Shaw is a goalkeeper. Was it a typo?

I personally think Ake would be the best option. He'd make our squad better atleast and he's left footed. A left footed centreback would be nice.

Unsure if he's any better than Lindelof, but he's certainly better than Bailly/Jones.

Sarr is really good. I’d give them James for him (plus whatever needed).

Don’t see Sarr being with Watford come next season.

Not far enough
As I wrote in the other thread, the only one I really would like to see usgo for is Buendia. The others I won't mind us getting are Ake and King (only if close to free tough)

Sarr and Jamal Lewis would be alright, if they’re cheap.

Buendia is the pick of the lot. But I don’t know if we need him. Aarons will be a good player in a good side with a decent manager.

but yeah I don’t think there’s much there we need.

I'm not against buying from relegated clubs - but United don't need more average squad players. United need 3 top quality players this summer to make the next step in the club's return to the top.

Who's the Bournemouth midfielder that refused to play post lockdown, with his contract up?

Are people only put off by Cantwell because he looks like a figure skater? Buendia would be a solid depth options, Jamal Lewis as well. Not sure how Perreyra fell so far at Watford but if he can get back to the player he was at Juve he’s worth a punt. Wouldn’t cost much and would take his opportunities without grumbling for playing time

Only person I'd take from that list is Ake. The Norwich lads in particular are massively overrated.

What about that Lewis Cook fella from Bournemouth? I think he's even played for England already.
(I've never seen him play, just remember some hype.)

Are we considering players relegated from non-English leagues? I think there are some better options in these teams than in Watford, Bournemouth or Norwich. Sandro Tonali, Ibrahim Sangare and Marc Roca all stand out as potentially good signings

Was a fantastic talent. Injuries have stalled his development.

Watfords Sarr seems like he'd fit into our dast attacking style of play from the little I have seen of him... not for a Kings ransom.
Maybe Ake, but dont think qe should be looking for bargains from those 3 clubs...

I like the look of Cantwell more than Grealish. With Grealish, he knows he won't be coming here as a starter. Let's say Pogba signs an extension and Bruno is going to play 40 out of 50 games next year, where does Grealish fit in. Certainly don't want an established player like him coming in just be a bench warmer (Potential expensive one at that). We are doing a good job of clearing the happy bench warmers.

Cantwell, on the other hand, is young enough to continue his development and make fewer appearances. He is pretty direct and has an eye for goal.

Robertson, Maguire, Wijnaldum were relegated if we can pick-up a couple of squad players for a good price and they are young then why not?

We should definitely go for that Norwich left back. Shaw is going to get injured again and Williams right foot would come in and affect our attack

Cantwell looks handy and a definite upgrade on Lingard/Fred/James
