Been a great player for us this season. Still Im going to need Rashford to fix his first touch. I watched the highlight of how we conceded and noticed it was his mistake that led to the freekick/goal. Of course it was ultimately pogba that fecked us but I just thought I should also highlight how him fecking up the basics can put us under pressure. He always finds his way into space but is inconsistent with taking on his man. This is down to him being not confident or his first touch letting him down when he has the advantage to dribble. Its too inconsistent for a 22 year old player.

Ole also does him no fecking favors when he is visibly exhausted. Its criminal how we have james who performs better on the left not get brought on when its obvious we need fresh legs. I cant fix my head around how Ole evaluates a players fitness.

It was either James or Lingard. I think even a half fit Rashford offers more of a threat. He did try a few dribbles but the hammers defended well.
This is false. Rashford has been very mediocre since the restart. Not alluding to goals/assist but more his general performance. He struggles mentally when he is exhausted and is basically more of a liability.

Are we all going to ignore that the reason for the Free Kick was simulation by Antonio after he'd already kicked the ball away?

He's also coming back from a massive injury. Injuries, actually. And he was our best player before he was injured. That was a time without Bruno, Pogba and occasionally Martial in the team.
I don't remember who it was, but a former player mentioned that people should be cautious over whether he'll return to the player he was before, given the nature of his back injury. He's only been back a few games ffs. If anything, his vision and distribution have improved substantially, so he's becoming a more complete player.
Him and Pogba deserve time, especially after how long they've been out. They were never going to suddenly jump back in and put in peak performances every game again.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
Not to undermine him, but these is interesting to see.

Types of Goals
16/17

Shooting - 10
Header - 0
Direct Free Kick - 1
Penalty - 0

17/18
Shooting - 10
Header - 2
Direct Free Kick - 1
Penalty - 0

18/19
Shooting - 10
Header - 1
Direct Free Kick - 1
Penalty - 1

19/20
Shooting - 13
Header - 1
Direct Free Kick - 1
Penalty - 7

Conclusion?
Rashford's headings and FKs conversion are always consistent. Strange, he gave an impression of scoring more Free kicks.
Penalties may helped boost his goals a lot, but his open play scoring stats showed he's improving in that department.

Overall, his scoring ability is improving except set-piece. And it's not just because of the penalties so people can no longer undermine him saying "his goal stat is high because of the penalties". Minus penalties and it still show he is improving.

 And there are 2+ more games left! Not over yet to get more goals!

But he scored by header against newcastle this season, no?

Not a fan of this false wingback position going on. Needs to push further forward. When Martial comes out of the box there’s nothing in there. Couple of crosses that go to nobody because nobody is in there (though Greenwood is guilty of this on the other side, tbf).

Was a bit wary to get forward, but he's probably knackered, along with the rest of our first 11. Not to add, most of our team seemed wary to commit too much forward, understandably.

He has been meh since restart overall for my expectations. Improved in his passing skill though.

Hopefully he is not losing focus with all the off field stuff.

Isn't the same player, maybe that back injury has some lasting effects.

Fancies himself as some kind of Poundland De Bruyne these days when his best attributes are taking on players and blitzing them.

This was like the very start of the season, his workrate was below average and looked mentally checked out.

Just needs a rest, nothing to worry about. Recharge his batteries and go again next season, he’s going to continue to be a big player for us.

For some reason he is playing left midfield spraying balls around as if he is a playmaker. He's not. He's a striker who needs to be pushed further forward.

In the end - thankful for Martial and Greenwood being consistent. Seems Marcus probably needs to clear his head a bit. Obviously been doing some great work out in the community but you d have to think that can be draining in its own way for a variety of reasons.

If we sign Sancho, it's his position in the starting XI that should be under threat.

Hopefully he benefits from the upcoming break as he hasn't been in good form at all since the restart.

I don't think Williams compliments him much, he comes inside and Rashford is forced wide when he needs to be getting in that space between the CB and RB.

That being said he was just poor today, whether it's an injury or tiredness he was barely jogging a lot of the time.

Need to rest and get his focus back. Just couldn't get going after the restart. We need him to fire on all cylinders if we have to mount some sort of challenge next season

Yeah not sure what was up with him the last few games but looked dead on his feet. Brilliant against Palace, then couldn't run the last 2. Well deserved rest for everyone, and for him it was an excellent season overall.

Guys give the lad a break. He's clearly exhausted. Been tremendous for us this season. He used to knock the ball past the defender and use his pace to beat him. Haven't seen that lately. And Shaw's injure came at a bad time. Hope a break would help. Love the lad

There is something weirdly not there for him at the moment. Like all his confidence has disappeared completely.

Before the injury he looked like he was truly breaking into the top tier of players. Currently looks a long way short of that level.

Hopefully he can get a good start to next season and regain his momentum

he looked very preoccupied and lacklustre. Exhaustion is understandable. Was very poor nonetheless.

Am very happy with his contribution this season. Hope he can have a full 2 weeks off now before any Europa Semi final. He should go somewhere like Greece or Dubai for some 5* R&R. Fully deserves it.

Expecting very big things from him next year, hopefully with Sancho providing enough opportunity for rotation and completion for places. Needs a big season as it ends with Euro's.

Another below-par performance from Rash today but still created two good chances and could have scored.

Think a nice rest will do him the world of good.

I believe back injuries are notoriously difficult to get over, and I would imagine that during lockdown, Rashford was putting in a lot of physical effort to get himself fit for the season restart, so he may well have peaked physically for this season, but he now has a couple of weeks break, so let's see what he's like if we (as we should) reach the Europa League semi final.

I fully agree with those comparisons with Rooney's bottom level. This isn't the first time either we've seen Rashford look downright poor when he's not at his best. Needs to definitely sort it our before he can be regarded a world class player.

He just looks completely glazed over sometimes. It’s really frustrating because at his best he’s electric.
