I mean I don't get the question marks still over him? He's not brilliant, he has his weaknesses but he's also reliable and consistent. I always feel against teams that play football he plays well. The Leicesters of this world etc.
Against the likes of Burnley and Chris Wood, he'll struggle. However, I think if we're upgrading on him we'll have to shell out a hell of a lot of money to do so, because he's still a good, experienced player.
The likes of people on here saying we should replace him with either of the young CB's from RB Leipzig are crazy. We're not in a position to replace a known quantity with a young CB. The money we spend to get someone ideal for Maguire has to be a nailed on success, that's why I'm happy to wait and stick with Lindelof until someone is available.
As a defensive unit, AWB, Maguire, Lindelof and Shaw have been good this season. Second only to Liverpool in goals conceded, and I guarantee if we scored more goals this season and turned those draws into wins, there wouldn't have been as much scrutiny on the defense. Early on, every goal was picked apart from a defensive perspective, every mistake highlighted while we were toothless in attack. Sometimes you need your forwards to bail you out, like against Bournemouth. We didn't see that at all early on in the season.
