Absolutely love Sir Alex. The way he speaks has so much of authority. You can see why he’s so successful just from the way he speaks.
Yeah. And no matter how long he speaks for, there's always a pearl of insight.

"Leeds, 16 years in the Championship. Liverpool, 30 years since winning that league" Nice one, Fergie ;)

He looks well. I'd do anything for him to see us win a league title in his lifetime again. Him handing medals to Ole and his team would be absolutely amazing.

Aw, that would be wonderful. Not optimistic about it tbh.

Id say at this point he is gone beyond the United v whoever rivalaries. Not that he wouldnt be as annoyed as all of us that Liverpool won but because he can afford to be from a well being point of view. Once that fierce competitive urge is gone probably a lot easier to be magnamious.

Also if he can bury the hatchet with Wenger then Im sure he couldnt give a toss about some gurning idiot like Klopp.

Bit fecking late now Mr Ferguson.
If you loved Klopp so much, why the feck did you hire David Fecking Moyes.
You had your chance and blew it big time.

Even in his congratulations he manages to remind them of their failures

He really is the master. Does look well too, shame we don't get to see and hear from him as much anymore.

As somebody else said above, he feels like a Grandad that we don't see enough of.

Klopp didn't want to leave Dortmund in 2013. We should have gone for him in the summer of 2015 but I guess Woody couldn't have sacked Van Gaal after qualifying for the CL.

... And here we have the complete opposite of class. The modern day "fan" who just spouts out what first comes to mind without thought, history or just a tad bit of research/googling.

Klopp wasn't even up for changing jobs in 2013 at Dortmund - went to the final of Champions League with Dortmund that year, he basically had a great time there at that moment.

It also makes you listen way more when he actually speaks, than if he went on to be a commentator of sorts. I feel that players going the commentator-way has watered down the legacy of a lot of the legends at our club.

Woodward messed it up and scared Klopp away
It's been well documented. SAF did want him after Pep had already signed for Bayern Munich but Klopp wanted a sabbatical and we weren't willing to wait...or the powers in charge of Utd weren't willing to wait a year with a caretaker in charge. We went with a hasty and under qualified candidate.

Such short sightedness cost us several years of positive development. They're all culpable including SAF but the club should have been bold enough to say, "look, thanks Sir Alex but we need a serious long term plan and this is what we need to do."

Oh well, no use fretting over it. We are where we are

That's true, short and sweet is always better. I guess he tries to stay out the way so he doesn't undermine Ole, but would just be nice to hear from him a bit more often.

I don’t think klopp would have come here no matter what. Fergie is klopps Idol and he was scared to follow him into united with that pressure and expectation. He wanted to replicate what Fergie did here at Liverpool. Imo.

Sir Matt was Fergie's idol, didn't stop him taking the job at Utd.

Anyway it's a moot point

Fergie and klopp are different people

It is a moot point yes
Edit: and although it’s a moot point, klopp took over Liverpool after a massive drought similar to Fergie and united. Fergie didn’t take over from Sir Matt

If Klopp believed that he could have success with Liverpool I actually understand that he would prefer that job over Man Utd. In a way, by winning with Liverpool he did the same thing Ferguson did. Taking over from Ferguson was a big challenge, but if he did everyone would have suggested that his success was down to the foundation already there.

A lot of managers (Pep, Mourinho etc) seem to prefer to go to a club where they can buy the best players in the world for record fees. But I really admire the builders like Ferguson, Klopp and maybe even Bielsa who prefer a different type of challenge. Yes, Klopp spent alot of money, and so did Ferguson, but taking Man Utd and Liverpool to the top was a completely different challenge from City (who outspend everyone), Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern etc. And it is not just about winning, but how they build an entire club while doing it.

Klopp's English is astoundingly good isn't it.
Class reaction.

Klopp is a very articulate and intelligent speaker. I listened to an interview with him on Radio5Live, giving his views on Brexit, and he was very impressive. No football chat but extremely perceptive on the politics of the EU.

Couldn't imagine a twat like Lampard doing the same

Ferguson only ever used “rivalries” as a motivational tool and a means to an end. He knows how hard Liverpool have worked to get from where they were to where they are and appreciates it, fair play.

I doubt he would due to media training and the owners, but Lampard has a very good set of GCSE results behind him, one of the more intelligent footballers certainly.

He didn't need to take over from Sir Matt. The shadow of that man's success loomed large over every manager at OT after his retirement. Only Fergie had the personality and vision to succeed where others failed.

We appointed McGuiness who was out of his depth, poor chap! Frank O'Farrell and Sexton were excellent coaches but didn't have the personality for Utd. The Doc had it but ran into controversy and that was that...society with it's double standards weren't prepared to forgive marital infidelity despite all the wrongs politicians were committing at the time. Big Ron..good coach and I think he was unlucky when injuries ravaged what might have been but he couldn't get us back on track and the rest is history.

He looks very well, nice to see.

Also agree with others that he`s deliberatly congratulating Klopp individually while almost not mentioning Liverpool, apart from the 30 year dig (as well as 16 years dig at Leeds haha).

Pretty sure that`s intentional, you can tell that he still has fire in him.

I think you lot are hearing what you would like to hear from the great man's comments. I think he is just pleased, as most pure football people are, to see old rivals back at a respectable level. Old money families don't generally like each other but they collectively despise the nouveau rich
