Criticism is fine. Criticism of the BS hate he gets for everything he does is also fine though. Some people (me included) just can't stand idiocy and call out morrons when they act like such.

I don't think any of the posters who defend Lingard today are actually defending his form or contribution to the team's successes this season. They are defending the human being against the army of hateful keyboard warriors that seem to get off on spewing sh!t about him. Big difference.
And where are these keyboard warriors on RedCafe? it's a forum. The only BS is when people cannot express their views on things, on a forum. If someone throws an insult at him for no reason they would get banned or have their posts removed. It's that simple.

And if they do exist, I don't think Lingard reads RedCafe anyway. But good job on defending human beings, we do need more human being defenders. I find it very confusing that when certain posters criticized him for the things he does off the pitch that could affect or disrupt his performance, it's called being hateful, because to some of his 'defenders' we should only talk about his performances in Utd shirt and that is all. But then they bring up other things than his performances to defend him (he loves United for life, he's an academy lad, he's a mancunian and knows/care more about the club than you do, etc). Very confusing indeed.

He isn’t good enough. That is no slight on him as a person. I think he needs to make peace with this and look for a club where he can contribute.

Part of the club moving forward is bringing in quality, but another part is getting rid of those who don’t have the required quality and have been a part of the drop in standards over the last 5 years.

He is an academy graduate and I wish him well, but he needs to go this summer while he can still make some money for the club.

All the best Jesse, but this post is you clinging on. Just let go and enjoy the next chapter in your career. I hope you do really well!
Hopefully we won't be stupid to offer a contract out of pity to an overpaid scrub that had all the chances in the world. Time to go, goodbye and good riddance.

Its decisions like these that will prove if we really have changed. It’s hard to be ruthless, but success comes from making the hard decisions. He has been too poor for way too long.

Again, nothing against him, and with sympathy for the issues he has faced, but he has no part to play at United anymore.

If you can’t trust a squad player (as Ole has shown post lockdown), then there is no point in keeping them.

He is going to bore his grandchildren to sleep with the stories of one purple patch in his entire career.

"Once upon a time I was a footballer"
He managed to fulfil his dream of playing for his boyhood club, not many of us can say that, and he did have a purple patch, which unfortunately for him, seems to be turning blue. I think he might well see out his contract, only because I can't see us signing too many players in this window, possibly three at most, and I believe that many of the academy lads will go out on loan next season, and when they return next summer, they will be in the first team squad (some of them anyway). If he does stay, I can't see him making too many match day squads, and possibly could only get games in FA and League Cup matches. If he wants regular football, then he needs to move on now. He was a decent player in an decent team, but we are playing to a much higher standard (generally), but Jesse's form has gone the other way, a new club may rekindle his decent form.

There's a lot of hate here for a lifelong United player who's had a rough patch. If he's sold, wish him well but whilst he's here embrace the positives when they come.

You never know, that goal could get him back to his best.
Haha, his best. It was a monumental feck up by the keeper nothing more, not some piece of sublime skill. The guy has been phoning it in since he signed a professional contract. Listen to some of his interviews over the last few years, most of it is about having a laugh with the boys. Nowhere have I seen a dedicated football player and his latest plea to the fans is just fecking begging. Where's his fecking agent right now???
So what if he gets picked on. Beckham ran up and down the wings for this club while opposing supporters were screaming how they were going to rape his wife. Lingard gets picked on by United supporters because he seems like a manchild and is a bang average footballer. Other teams supporters wouldn't think of him for a second.
In the world of professional sports and the glare of the limelight you will get have people out for you. Use it to become better in your sport and as a person. Grow, something that I don't think Lingard is willing to do. Otherwise he would be happy to leave and blaze a trail for himself somewhere else.

He achieved something that literally millions of people can only dream of achieving, and that only less then 0.1% of people could ever achieve... I'm sure his grandchildren will be pretty chuffed with him.

Looking over my shoulder.
It's a bit like when your Wife invites a proper Man into your bedroom to meet her sexual needs because you can't, and you're in the spare room, but you're happy because you are still in the same house as the Woman you love and you get to see the kids as well.
At least we are now well aware of your fantasies:D

Oles system is built around the number 10 so much so that our season was in ruins before we actually got a competent one. Lingard needs to realize that he will never be good enough for such an Important position. Only reason Ole brought him on last game was for more energy.

he loves the club too much that he is actually neglecting his own career. What’s best for him is too find a new club were he can thrive especially if he wants to play for his country. Needs to sort it out.

He might be Lingard's relative because he takes everything you say about Lingard so personally. The only way for him to accept your argument is if you stop criticizing Lingard. End of story. So just do it really, it's not worth it.
The thing is I just said had he been atleast useful for few weeks it would have made sense at some level ,but the timing of this when there is speculation he might be moved on seem bit calculated to me basically making the Club look bad if we try to move him rather than looking why he is being moved on.

May be if you had some basic comprehension skills it would have been worth debating with you but unfortunately that's not the case.
It's funny because you are the one that's gatekeeping a players right to commit himself to the club he is contracted to. Lingard has a contract through 2021 and has a right to stay and fight for a spot in the team if he so chooses. It doesn't really matter what you might think about it, or if he's demoted to the reserves, the club can't deny him the right to remain with the club for the duration of his contract.

You seem to be reading this post as some type of celebration of how succesful he is, which is entirely wrong.

All he does is aknowlege a season full of struggles, and commit himself to working hard with himself to put himself intoa position to be able to help the team. That is what he wants to do.

What right do you have exactly to come here and say he can't do that?

1. So if I insult your family, it's OK because they don't read the Redcafe? Weird logic. Before you make a cheap assumption, no, I'm not related to him in any way, I'm using this to illustrate the ridiculousness of your point.
2. Are you the definitive say of what off pitch behaviour leads to poor on pitch performance? At least I wasn't aware. Odd how that works one way for Lingard and another way for other players. It's almost like there isn't any link between the two.
3. The positive stuff he says in his Instagram post are nothing to mock or hate on. I'll take his positive attitude any day of the week and the fact that his own team mates defend and are happy for him (read Bruno's words after Sunday's game) are proof enough how his attitude is seen by his professional peers.

Apologies if it’s already been mentioned but I just read about a bloke who but a bet on Lingard not to score a goal or make an assist all season. £10 @66/1. Talk about unlucky

Which part exactly? He is saying he had a difficult year when he hasn't been at his best, knows the fans are frustrated but confirms he still loves the club and everything about it and will do his utmost to help Manchester United achieve its goals. If that's cringeworthy for you, I'm sorry for you.
It’s cringeworthy that after a gifted tap in he has a need to go on social media and write that. It shows how cheap and weak mentality he has. He’s been shit for longer than a year and that’s done and dusted. Go and do your talking on the pitch nobody gives a damn whether he loves the club if you perform like he has. If you can’t see how cringeworthy it is than I am feeling sorry for you too.

He most likely wrote it because the season ended and he contributed to the last game so had a reason to address his followers. You are the living embodiment of the "he just can't win with you" phrase. He came in as a sub, did his job and scored a lucky goal. He then went to publish a photo with a caption saying he acknowledges his shortcomings this season and to re-state his devotion and love to the club.

You are cringeworthy.

Between the instagram post and the interview he did the other day it does feel like he's going on a bit of a press run about "getting back to the old Jesse".

Hopefully the club aren't buying it and sling him off this summer. I suspect his career will end up like Cleverley and Welbeck.

I'm a bit critical of these things. Like the aptly timed sob story from Shaw when he was under fire. On one hand, they are of course just people with feelings. On the other, they're working with people to ensure they stay making as much money as possible, and keeping the fans of the club that's paying you a shit tonne on your side is probably in your best interests.

Not the first time he's done this embarrasing press run of excuses. No one wants a person to be in a difficult period with their family, but this is nothing more than putting himself before the club and anything else. Good luck with trying to make it as a professional footballer, but do it somewhere else!

Get out of my club now. Please.

He writes this in the past tense as if he has returned to where he used to be - or whatever it is he considers that to be. I’m tempted to put it down to his inability to compose a sentence; however, he has done this before with the getting back to the old me rhetoric. Granted, he refers to off field issues and I am hopeful all is well in that regard.

Back to the football bubble, as it were. He’s just a bit of a prize melon, isn’t he? Even down to the way he quotes a cheesy Michael Jackson number from the 80s and neglects to punctuate a word (twice!) that spell check actively seeks to correct on your own behalf.

With a bit of luck he’ll be spouting all of this elsewhere come next season.

He could write whatever he wants, he's not been good enough and we need to improve the squad. He's one of the few we can get decent cash for. Time to move on.

He had two decent-ish performances in early Decemeber when we beat Spurs and then City and he immediately went and did interviews with various media outlets saying how he felt like he was "the old Jesse" again and the bad form was in the past. Then he went on to be fecking dreadful.

Now he comes on and scores his first League goal in 18 months with the last kick of the season and we get a similar series of statements from him on social media.

Maybe I'm being too harsh but it seems a bit cynical from him. Any hint of decent form or a goal or just anything where he's not been appallingly bad and he's out there talking.

In addition to his cringeworthy post he posted an even more cringeworthy story where he is dancing(?) from the backseat of his car his instagram.

He will never grow up. Get out of the club.

He critisim he gets for being a tool on social media is baffling. He gets its worse that Giggs who shags his brother missus.

Something is wrong here. How many of you follow the players on insta? And why?

Im to old for this shit. All he has done is being a little tool. Footballers who drives drun, gets no abuse but he has crossed the line for a couple of immature videos ?

Solskjaer has handled him well. The postings has stopped and he plays way less. Leave it at that.

If it's raising his price tag it's fine by me. He needs to go this summer though. Best wishes etc but time to go.

One goal. That's what it took for him to decide the world needed to hear his social media redemption story.

Maybe I'm being too harsh - he seems like a nice enough lad and by all accounts, he's a popular member of the squad. But I honestly don't ever see the lad having what it takes to be a top footballer. His priorities just seem all wrong.

Just read an article on the BBC related to the above where he says that Olé told him he was on his final chance following an issue on social media. Anyone have any ideas what that was all about?

I'm 41, I don't have an Instagram account.

Ryan Giggs won 34 trophies with Utd, scoring 114 goals, I don't care who he shagged.... as long as he wasn't shagging them during a game, even if he was he probably still contributed more to the teams performance than Lingard does.

George Best was a wife beating pisshead, but a great player.

Useless comparisons are useless.

Do it on the pitch and most other times you get a pass.

At his best, he wasn't good enough for his wages. It's time for him to move, let's be less emotional about this.
