So more big spending this summer.

Besides Foden, has he actually bothered using any of the academy players? I remember before he was arriving how Pep always uses the academy.
Eric Garcia this season. That’s it, really. Only him and Foden who’ve been used with any regularity.

We would all agree now that Klopp has far exceeded Pep as the best manager in the world, right? Pep reached a very high peak in his career and I can see him going on the decline now, similar to what started happening to Jose a few years ago. Ten league defeats with the resources City have is pretty diabolical.

Whether he has lost his incredible highs, only time will tell. This season had a feeling like his first season at city. Great going forward, poor defensively. He will buy new defense no doubt, but some of his superstar players are getting older. Don't think he will reach 100 point again with this squad.

Well, I don't see any PL squad to reach 100 points in near future.

Has he ever gone longer than 1 year without winning the league as a manager? Don't think he has.

Don't think he will stick around much longer tbh. Probably go to Juve next or back to Barca where it all began. Would like to see him take on a club that isn't immediately going to be the fav to win the title but I don't think he ever will.

Pep became Barca manager when they were not favourites to usurp Real, but I get your point, I'm just being pedantic!
He'll be Spain manager after City I reckon, failing that it'll be Roma.

You clearly don't know the man very well at all then. He'd never manage Spain in a million years from what I hear. He considers himself Catalan not Spanish and wants independence for them.

His 47 caps for Spain say otherwise.
He considers himself a catalunya, made all his players speak Catalonian at Barca, adhered to them rules as a player, yet still played for Spain.
I think he'd manage the international team given the chance.

Barca is a mess and I doubt he'd go back until they got their affairs in order.

I could see him at Juventus though

so true, as if Pep actually follows through on his moral high ground shtick. All that crap about having sympathy for people not living in freedom but then he turns around and praises the sheiks and manages one of their clubs.

People said his style of football won't work in the Premier League after his 1st season at City and he pissed the league the following season.

No manager is perfect. They'll have disappointing seasons.

Maybe.....but from what I have read it's not that likely.

2 disappointing seasons out of 4 though..
Next season is a huge season for him. Having a losing record out of 5 will place his methods under the spotlight.

Real were very poor (relative to what they became) in the year's preceding Pep (they did go wild that window though)

They don’t all spend the equivalent of the GDP of a small country though.

Not as bad Barca were, Rijkaard had lost the players, Barca were in a free fall, finishing third watching Real walk the league.
In fact, didn't Real win the league before that too? So I don't really think your comment holds much value.

Hold fire, he could win the CL in one of his disappointing seasons just yet! I think he’s proved his playing style here, he hit a peak that nobody has domestically within 3 years. The only team to reach 100 points and the only team to take a clean sweep of the domestic trophies. Even if next year doesn’t go to plan, I think you’d be hard pressed to question his ‘methods’.

I get your point though, there is certainly more pressure on the club after a poor season than a successful one. Liverpool are the only club with a free hit this time around.

Not even a single semi final in 4 years for City.

Got KOed by Monaco in 16th round, Liverpool, Spurs and now Lyon in Quarter final.

At least he was reaching semis with Bayern.

So in his 4 years at City he's been knocked out before the semi's and not even by Bayern, Real, Barca or Juve.

They got knocked out by Monaco, Liverpool, Spurs and Lyon.

A decade now since he even reached a final. That’s quite bad. Maybe he should go back to Barcelona and ask Messi to sort him out.

Consistent failures in Europe since 2011.

Quite funny.

Even today, I thought he tried to be too smart by going with a back 3. Seems to always do it in Europe.

Pep needs to leave and go back to Barcelona. It is a perfect timing, they need him and him needs them.

His style is dead at the top level. Every top side they have faced, bar Madrid with 2 defensive disasters, have beaten him this season.
Every season in Europe has the same scenario played out time and time again.
Hes a small budget away from being Mourinhoed. When Joses budget went, so did he.

Still dont understand why he went 5 at the back to contain the threat of Depay

You can’t spend as much as he has and have a season like that. Absolute disaster. So many expensive, failed transfers at a club that were fully into his vision.

Woeful.
