Remains to be seen whether he lives up to this huge price tag. Let's hope he does.

Nobody but us would pay that fee would they so that says its not the best value. Same for Maguire. Which other club would have paid 80 to 85m for him.
The only teams who can afford that kind of fee and wage either have their own elite wingers or one they have to shift off their books (Bale).

They are not going to move for Sancho unless they sell their own elite player or move them to another position on the pitch.

Messi/Neymar
Mbappe/Dembele/Griezmann
Bale
Salah/Mane*

He's not going to City and Bayern Munich have their own set of wingers, besides which, neither of these clubs pay the kind of transfer fee being bandied about, period.

This is the most opportune time for us to move for Sancho; if the chain reaction triggers and some of those players moved clubs, we could have direct competition for his signature. I still think at this price point, you only have: Real, Barcelona, United and PSG who are viable destinations.

*questionable Liverpool could or would match the wage and fee giant or oil clubs would pay.

Why do you care though? It won't be all in one go, and it won't impact our ability to sign others this summer.
Possibility to be a spectacular failure for starters, and the obvious impact it will have on us the next time we come knocking for a new signing. Clubs already double their prices for us, this will just make it worse.

Good thing your name isn't Glazer then
All hail our glorious benefactors

I'm old enough to remember United paying £7 million – £6 million cash plus £1 million for Keith Gillespie going in the opposite direction for Andy Cole and some journalists were complaining that United paid too much at the time.

In today's inflated market I suppose 120m equals 7m back in the mid 90s?
Go even further back with Roy Keane and Nottingham Forest. And we paid over the odds for a player who belonged to a relegated side. I guess it was 1 or 2 million and broke the transfer record or something. My memory is fading with age

Maybe modern football isn't for you if you can't get excited about us signing one of the best teenagers on the planet.

Found out im going to be a father a few days ago. Now we are signing Sancho and selling Sanchez for an actual fee.
If it wasnt for this whole global pandemic and the far right slowly taking over the world, 2020 wouldnt be that bad

Wow I must say this year is a blessing for you, even with all these COVID stuffs going on.
Back to the Sancho topic, my muppet juice is ready. I'm still a newbie with 3 posts per day, but I will dedicate at least 1 of them to this thread everyday. Such is the life of a muppet.

Didn't watched him play yet but I looked a compilation of his goals and assists in 2019/2020 and it was so long i fell asleep which should be a good sign.

This will not have that impact. The player is worth ~100 mill by any clubs standard. This is us paying exactly what he’s worth. You could argue that we should be paying less during Covid BUT that won’t affect how other clubs view our outlay.

Most reports have the upfront fee at £60-90m. Selling Sanchez gets £13.5m in plus £20m in saved wages. Add Smalling at £15-18m and we are halfway to covering the cost this summer.
Sanchez wages was £20 Mill per year wasnt it? 2 years left on contract = 40 Mill ’saved’. Can’t believe we actually got a fee for him aswell. Its like a £50 mill transfer!

Can’t help but feeling we pay too much for Sancho. Sure, he has potential obviously but not a 120 Mill player in my eyes. It’s one thing putting those numbers in Bundesliga for one of the best teams. Another thing to do it in the Prem.

I really hope he proves me wrong and I can’t wait to see Sancho, Pogba, Bruno, Rashy, Greenwood and Martial link up!
