Quite clear by now nobody has a clue how close this deal is. I expect it to go on for weeks as usual as we try to get the price down (rightly so).
This whole transfer saga has actually been really static from Dortmund´s side. For about an month now two fixtures have been reported up and down by pretty much every German sports outlet with a consistency that is quite frankly pretty rare nowadays: 120 mil. € and August 8th. These are the corner stones of the deal.

Dortmund handled this affair unusually transparent for their standarts. The fixtures were either fed directly to the press by head officials or in the case of it coming from Uniteds side or Sanchos camp they did absolutely nothing to counteract them. This level of transparency is most likely a clear sign to the player himself that they will honor an already made promise to let him go back in the EPL if the requirements are met. There is so little fluctation in both the timing and volume of the deal that I believe that the fixtures have been agreed between Dortmund and Sancho a long time ago. This is probably an insurrance to keep the player from getting frustrated in the unlikely case that the deal with fall through.

Sancho joining United this Summer is highly likely at this point. The deal will in the end probably look like something as 90-100 Mil. € fix + 20-30 Mil. € in addons. It will be absolutely secondary if the fix sum will be payed in one installment or multiple ones as this courtesy is not this large negotiation tool journos tried to create in the last few days. we already agreed to a multi payment plan when we sold Dembele to Barca and the guy literally striked his way out of the club. Staggared payment plans are pretty common when it comes to tranfer sums, especially ones of this magnitude. Uniteds desire to pay in two or three payments won´t make or break this deal

The biggest obstacle this deal has is time. Dortmund´s DoF Zorc has the reputation to absolutely loathe selling or signing late in the window as the pre season is viewed as absolutely vital when it comes to player integration. Zorc has already confirmed that the sale of Sancho would make them active on the market again for an offensive midfielder, which will most likely result in a very swift replacement signing to give Sanchos successor the best chances to fill the large boots the latter would leave behind. That is the reason why the deadline is the proper start of Dortmunds pre season.

It's starting to look like all signs are pointing to this falling through. This would be so disappointing.
Are you talking about Sancho to Utd or Danny van der Nobody's move to Bishop's Stortford FC?

This is all bluster to keep the articles and clicks rolling, Jadon will be a Utd player in no time.

The amount of people in here that think Ed is the one negotiating this deal is mind-blowing.

If a source is saying personal terms are agreed then a fee can't be far away because surely a side would only ever allow personal discussions to go ahead when the difference in the fee is negligible. It must only be about the structure of payment. This is definitely only a matter of time.

Suprised to see norwegian or whatever language in the topics In swedish it would be ’Dra åt helvete din hästkuk’.

Regarding the Sancho deal I think 120 mill is too much. He’s still very unproven in the biggest leagues. See what happened with Dembele. Would Barca get the money back if they sold him? No way. Same could go for Sancho. No one knows really so its a gambling for sure.

What alternatives are there?

There's plenty of people saying this but nobody suggesting good alternatives.

Unproven in the biggest leagues? What more does he have to do? What a stupid statement.

Agreed. Some people need to grow a pair. It's the same song and dance every window. IF we really want someone we typically get them in the end. This is how negotiations work, so enough with the sky is falling routine.

I mean it's all fun and people are taking most of it as a joke (as it should be during muppet times). But, am worried for anyone taking him even half-seriously.

Hopefully, ratio in favor of the sane ones is more than 70-30.
I heard it was more like 70-30-20.

Obvious posturing and will get done but not by Friday as looked a possibility at the start of this week.
This is one of the few times where United actually has some leverage. I have absolutely no problem with them playing hardball at this stage.

Feet up at home.
Bruno was like this wasn't he? Tweets saying it was being discussed between the clubs after the player had agreed terms, then tweets saying the money wasn't right and then all done they day after?

1. Wait for player to make a scene to lower the price
2. Wait for players contract to expire
3. Look for another RW

We will pay the same amount that Chelsea pay for Werner, Ziyech AND Havertz combined. So stupid, but Woodward never learns.

We’ve seen it many times before. Players putting big Numbers in Bundesliga. Then change League and cannot do it here.
How many ’Dortmund Stars’ have actually made it after being sold? Auba comes to mind. Dortmund likes to overprice their players for sure. Kagawa and Mkhi was also putting big Numbers over there. Thw quality of PLand Bundesliga is Night and day.

Im not saying Sancho isnt talented. Probably the most shining RW out there. The price is just obscure as the fact player wants to leave, 2 years left and still Young and pretty unproven.

Werner and Havertz combined will cost more than Sancho easily

Imagine being even slightly worried, there's not a single doubt in my mind. Poor buggers.
Yeah they better be prepared for it to happen again with our next transfer whether that be CB or Grealish

I am not sure which calculator you are using. £100m for Sancho is the same as Werner £50 + ZIyech £33m + £80m Havertz. I am no genius but simple maths and that works out to be £163m

Hummels, Auby, Gundogan, Pulisic all come to mind.

Did I seriously see someone suggesting signings both Zaha and Grealish would be better than Sancho?

Firstly Zaha would cost upwards of £70m on his own. Secondly his numbers are garbage for a winger/inside forward in the modern game. Average of 6 goals 4 assists per season over the last 5 seasons, just awful.

Grealish meanwhile is an £80m ponce who represents a huge downgrade on either Pogba and Bruno.
