I'd imagine he's probably all but agreed to go Barcelona. Seems like the sort of unsettling move they'd do.

Don't think they will get 30 million for him.

No way they will get that fee. Barca probably have the contract agreed with him and will just tell him to sit tight for 9 months, he is only 19.

City only have themselves to blame. These young players just don’t see a future there. Signed Ake and will sign another before window closes.

Surprised it took him this long tbh. A 35 year old Fernandinho was playing over him for most of the season. Only until the league was fully done did Garcia come in.

Would be funny if city offered a Barca player ludicrous money like PSG did with Neymar just to Spite Barca.

Don’t they have to wait only 4 months? They can sign him for free in Jan.

Not really seen him play but seen him hailed as “the new Pique” a few times, is he potentially that good ? I know Barca have also got Ronald Araujo coming through too who’s very highly rated so if they can get Garcia that’s potentially their centre back pairing for the next decade sorted.

I’ve always liked Barca (think it’s my hatred of Real) outside of when we’ve played them and it’d be nice to see them go back to bringing young players through and players that came through ‘La Masia’ originally. My mate is a HUGE Barca fan and raves about Ansu-Fati, Araujo, Puig, Pedri, Collado and Moriba so hopefully Barca go back to basics and those lot maybe along with Garcia succeed as I hate seeing Real winning trophies whilst Barca have gone with the scattergun approach we did til Ole came in.

Yeah, absolutely, am sure they will have the contract all tied up before then too.

Don't blame him. The signing of Ake and potentially another centre back will mean he won't get that many minutes. That said, will he get that many at Barca?

I think any young CB at City must be wondering why they couldn't get a game last season given their injuries and the fact Pep would prefer playing a 35 year old Fernandinho out of position rather than giving them a try?

It's obviously about his homecoming and the opportunity to play for his boyhood dream club more than anything.

What does that have to do with the thread though? Garcia is basically a starter at the moment. He wants to join Barcelona sadly, but understandably though.

It's my thread. I'll say what I like in it.

That said I'd say it's very relevant when it's likely explaining the reasons why he wants to leave. He was basically made a starter as a token gesture, not when it mattered.

Why leave then?
Well, that's why. Or am not sure what you mean. :D To play or perhaps replace eventually Pique at his homeclub is I guess worth more than anything from his point of view. It happened sooner than most thought, mind...

I meant why did he leave Barcelona then if it was his dream to play for them, unless he was released?

Hopefully turns out to be another Pique and this time can be used to mock City fans

I would want to leave too when my goalkeeper (ederson) wipes me out and laughs about it afterwards.

What a shitehole of a club.

Ah, that's a good question, that's anyone's guess. I know that right at the time when Puyol was hired as his agent, he chose to move to City. Maybe back then they saw more of a chance of a breakthrough there + better academy facilities + the fact he'd be under Pep and the ex-Barca brigade must have been huge too. Now that Barcelona see him as an actual candidate for their first team, his stance changed.

What I find surprising is, why they don't wait one more season. Chances are this will be Pep's last at City and there will be elections in Barcelona, so the situation will be much clearer. Then again, he's still just 19, maybe he started to miss home amidst this pandemic...

He's probably asking why leave the beloved home club in the first place

Crazy at that price. Doesn't look like a big prospect at all. Outside of being good on the ball there's not much there, which is exactly what you can find in La Liga at alot of teams for a pittance.
