See this is what I do fear. Having a potentially elite level Striker playing RW.

Would be United all over to have wingers playing the striker role and feckin strikers playing the wingers role.
Martial is already playing to a pretty elite level, Greenwood has a little way to go in terms of hold up play and fighting defenders first.

I think so far he's done an excellent job out wide and if anything it helps him get his shots away easier as he's already facing the goal when he picks the ball up. Anyway he's 18 and pleny of time to move in to the striker role in 2/3 years.
And if Greenwood/Martial get injured, we gonna go back to Dan fecking James and Lingard.
I get that, and obviously we do need reinforcements - but the first team is at a good level for the first time in a while. Before Bruno we had a gaping hole in CAM, but right now our front 3 are all capable of goals, midfield and defence all fairly well balanced etc.

What i'm saying is even if we had to wait until January to get Sancho we could probably manage the start of the season if we juggled wisely.

Sancho has been pictured in London at a house party for rappers Krept and Konan. I think the lad has some growing up to do. It seems he is a party animal and those romours to do with his disciplinary issues may be right. He is without doubt a top talent but am concerned about his lifestyle. Dortmund are in preseason mode he should be focused on that really.
Here we go

The white smoke and lip reading are peak muppetry. But fellow muppets, I grow weak and feel this transfer is escaping our grasp the longer it rumbles on.

Considering how much Ole has spoken about SAF influence and stature at the club ad-nauseam,it would be wise of Ole to take into account of the great man's intelligent work in the transfer window.
If the club is being held to ransom and ,due to that ,If you cant get your number 1 target, simply move on.

Doesn't help that the United fanbase have convinced themselves that Sancho IS the only option available and if we dont sign him it would be a failure of epic proportions for the club.

This is destined to end with us paying the full asking price on deadline day.

I do wish we could have got this done quickly, and strengthened other areas of the team, but it’s looking increasingly likely he will be our only signing.
Yup. If we always pay the full price and teams know it then everyone will call our bluff. Except this time if Sancho really is that future ballon d'or player, f it then, do it one last time.
Pay the full price, not everyday you try to buy a ballon d'or candidate whos 20.

Yeah I have to admit that I am starting to get that feeling as well now, just hoping the outgoings pick up after Europa League campaign is complete.

I'm tired of this saga, it's been running ever since he joined Dortmund. Yet I have to keep up with it. Buy the next guy on the list instead, pretty please!

I do agree but this isnt a normal transfer.
Depends how much we rate Sancho. If he is the player to take us to the next level, a future ballon d'or candidate then just pay the full price. You very rarely negotiate a deal like that.

However for the future when we want a new Maguire or a new AWB, players like that who are okay but can easily be replaced then dont budge. This is the last time to just pay the price and be done with it.
Again it depends how much we rate Sancho. If he is in the class of Mbappe and if he will be one of the best players in the world then just pay the price.

Won't surprise me if this happens. The Bruno transfer last year showed the way Woodward works. Last summer couldn't agree on a transfer fee and wages and the window closed without signing him, the media was told all type of nonsense to why United backed out of deal. He should have been signed then as soon as the January transfer window opened but again more stalling by Woodward and the signing wasn't completed until the end of January.

Unted need to sign at least 3 players in this window and continue to clear out the dead wood in the squad.

It really is that simple. Improve the squad if we want to have a proper battle at the top.

Otherwise we're probably limiting ourselves to 3rd max, however impressive our little run was before fatigue kicked in.

probably this. also why are people so sure he won’t just sign a new deal over the next little while if Dortmund don’t like our offers or stalling tactics? Gentleman’s agreement he can leave if they get a big enough offer for him next summer where he’ll probably have a bigger choice of clubs and end up with higher wages. Another year in the CL and the euros coming up. Dortmund can afford that no matter what anyone says about their business model. They won’t need to spend much more money this summer if he stays. if they keep him another year they’ll have a better crack at going far in the CL. He’s not unhappy there yet we are acting like he’s going to hand in a transfer request to come here. We are getting a good price at anything under 120 and I feel like that’s taking covid into consideration. Dortmund have already beaten us on Bellingham and Haaland but people expect that we have the upper hand here because we have some money... remember its Woodward. Anything that can go wrong will probably go wrong!

Obviously Ed struggles at multi-tasking.

I always wonder why chelski and city get deals done so quick.

I hope they’re not paying clubs in some other underhanded way to reduce the fees reported. I maybe have to much time on my hands
I think it's not just Chelsea but a lot of other clubs that manage to get deals done swiftly. In the time we've been linked to Sancho, preparing a bid, getting ready to launch a bid, agreeing terms, setting deadlines, leaking things (allegedly) to ITKs and all that bollocks, Chelsea have got Ziyech and Werner over the line. Remember how Liverpool signed Fabinho? Not a ripple in the media and it was announced. Same with City and Torres.

The way we do transfers is incredibly drawn out, unnecessarily prolonged and inefficient. I miss the days without all this preamble: countless YouTube compilations; bland, meaningless analysis before pen was put to paper and the media shitstorm that followed before every big signing. I remember when we announced Nani and Anderson on the same day and not a single cnut in the media had a clue. That's the way we should be doing things, but I suppose that's the way things are in the age of social media.

Do we want to just stump up €120m or is that too much? I can’t be too mad at the club about this, it’s frustrating but we shouldn’t allow ourselves to be taken to the cleaners. This place is going in to meltdown if this doesn’t happen but we know he’s for sale at the right price. If we’ve drawn a line in the sand we’re unwilling to cross, that’s fair enough.
