New thread title suggestion: Jadon Sancho - Airpods overrated?
Barca have a way of finding money.

They signed Coutinho and Dembele in one year

Then they have signed Frenkie De Jong and Griezman last summer.

They somehow find £100m when everyone says they have no money.

Jamie Jackson being sure is good enough for me  ... though I'd probably say the same if indykaila said that at this point I want it to happen that bad

This Zorc fella sounds like a shit alien baddie from an even shitter 70s sci fi series so I reckon he’s just going to let all us earthlings know he’s going to blow up Earth if United don’t just stump up the cash at 3:30.

The presser won't say anything. Zorc has a knack of going against what he says anyway.
Feel free to debunk Romano whenever you want with actual examples, otherwise I'd be wary of classing credible journalists as fake news. >90% of them are probably rubbish, but the hype on Sancho is based on the few credible journalists with genuine leads.
I'm waiting for news on this presser, if Zorc says one thing in a presser and the total opposite to journo's then that would make no sense, so I feel we can gain some comparison here on what Dortmund's official stance is, compared to Romano's info so far.

Like I say, I hope he's right. I just don't buy that these guys know much more than the mere fact these clubs are negotiating, which is obvious because neither club have denied their in talks.

It’s 3:39 now, so I guess we’re all ok?

He's been told the deal is done pending other transfers. Folk were briefed on this before the weekend there.

Precisely. Remember the three fake lawyers we sent over to sign Herrera?
you could write a book just about how bad we are at this side of things but fans are still defending their approach for some reason. most recently its almost like we didn’t wait a year and spend 20 million more on Maguire or take a year and a half to sign Bruno and you can just add them to the many other failures over the years. Like do people genuinely think we’ve actually become much better negotiators all of a sudden? It’s more of the same but the club is on a high because Bruno came in and saved our season.

Posts like this, littered throughout the thread, make no sense to me. We're the ones who want to buy; the seller sets the terms. At what point in that process do you think the buyer has the right to throw a hissy fit or start calling shots?

If there is give and thus room to operate in, sure, try your luck, otherwise, you look like a chancer from a flea market coming into an upmarket establishment trying to haggle when there was never any hope of it coming off.

The notion it's this summer of bust for Dortmund with one of the most coveted assets in football, outright, is wishful thinking. Next summer, Sancho could have had a storming Euros and yet another stellar season with his club. There will also be a probability of all the big names having moved or being in the process of doing so, and by big names, I mean players from clubs who are viable destinations with the kind of money it takes to bring a 9-figure player in.

We can gamble on Dortmund salivating and being desperate for the money whilst saying we'll walk away, but it doesn't mean much, Covid world or not. Sancho is an appreciating asset, with a fair portion of his worth revolving around his age and the fact, even with his absurd output, there's room for growth. He could fairly be worth more next summer than he is now that being a third stellar season in a row plus an outstanding Euros easily offsets the number of years then left on his contract. Dortmund's hands aren't tied, and it is so odd to read post after post where people sincerely believe we hold all the aces here and should be shot-callers when it's simply not the case.

I can't really get with the supposed roller-coaster this is for some people, even though I believe Sancho to be the best possible signing we could make, even in an open market. I also doubt we have any intention of calling this off and the deal will be concluded, but these ultimatum and posturing posts don't make an iota of sense to me. The only time you make those kind of statements is when you're genuinely prepared to walk away - walking away from the best possible talent we could buy would be inherently stupid and self-defeating and I don't see why people think it'll be a dagger to the heart for Dortmund should we in fact do so - sans having a disgruntled kid on their books... ultimately, it'd be seen as United not valuing him enough to pay up.

Anyway, I believe the impasse, if there is one, is about structure of the deal not the amount we will end up paying in total for the player.
I would disagree that Sancho is an appreciating asset if we pay €120m for him as it's unlikely that we would sell him for more than that in the future. This is the same kind of group think that made us sign Sanchez on a looney contract.

You are ignoring the new economic reality if you dont see the risk of paying €120m for a player with potentially no gate receipts for another full season. We are not the bottomless pits that PSG and City are and the club has its limits which is most likely why we haven't signed him by now. Dortmund are perfectly entitled to request whatever fee they want, that's their own risk. I just hope we are not stupid enough to pay €120m for him in current economic climate. I would have no issue with that fee if Covid hadn't happened but it has.

It is the same excuses.

Takes a long time to do these deals
The Season is not finished
Transfer window hasn't opened
We are still in the Europa League
Patience, we are trying to wear them down.

6 months later, pay the price we should have anyway. Can you imagine how much closer we would be to Liverpool and City if we did things efficienctly? Bought Maguire a season earlier, bought Bruno last summer ?

Zorc is going to say Deadline passed, Sancho stays. Suck it Redcafe

Ed will then pay 120m and Zorc will sell Sancho to us.

They just said Sancho has put in transfer request.

I don't know German but that's what it sounded like.

Be amazed if he says anything "new", they're just going to rattle off the same old shit, "no official contact, not for sale, Sancho has a contract" etc.
