This lads contract expires next month. Does anyone know how well he is progressing? I remember he came with rave reviews when United signed him.
His contract doesn't expire until next year, he signed a 2 year pro deal when he was 17.

He has played a lot at right-back for United. He's decent, 3 goals and 1 assist in 16 matches last season. He has a good right foot, is a good set piece taker, can pick a pass and is a hard worker. I'm not sure he has a lot more. Not very fast or very strong. Reminds me a little of Andreas Pereira. Don't think he will ever get 75+ games at United though... so no, he's not going to make it.

He looked good to me honestly. Yes, Garner, Levitt are better, Galbraith so so. Puigmal did not play much in his position, covered for Laird at RB for some time that will help him in midfield role I think. In those outings as midfielder he was pretty good I think, especially when better players around. Not sure what is the plan, he is certainly not first team potential at the moment, but should be loaned and we should keep him to see what can be with him playing competitive games.

He's another player we will have to be patient with. Not as good as the others right now, but I do like his ability and how measured he is in his actions. Whenever he passes he tries to put the perfect weight on them like you can tell he exerts effort to get it right where as others might just do it nonchalantly.

At first I didn't like that United made him a RB, but was completely understandable as he's been blocked by better performing midfielders (we're quite stacked in that department for his age group), but it doesn't hurt to try and make a more modern fullback out of him where vision and passing ability can go a long way.

Wow! Your criteria for "making it" is 75+ games for the senior team? If he makes anything close to that, he'll have a great career at Premier League level and I'm sure by most coaches criteria that would definitely mean "making it". Any academy player who makes a debut and then plays at several more games has made it, in my opinion.

I think it was more a direct comparison with Pereira.

Has always looked talented on the ball but the break came at the wrong time for him, don't know if he'd been doing overtime with the fitness coaches but he was very impressive driving the game centrally in the 23s just before the break and fully deserved his first-team call up. Be interesting to see how he and Galbraith fare in the 23s with Garner and Levitt likely to go out on loan.

Looks like he'll be the only one stays with Levitt, Garner, Galbraith, Traore all likely to head out on loan so yeah.

Maybe a chance for him to prove himself in midfield with more responsibility.

I do like the look of him myself. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in central midfield when the kids return.

Be interesting to see how the midfield will take shape for the 23's this season if indeed those four do go out on loan, Puigmal alongside Mejbri with McCann sitting maybe, with Svidersky and Helm(who I rate highly)in the mix as well.

The general concensus is that if some plays 40 games (which equates to a season's football) they could probably be regarded as a first team player.

If your'e regarded as a first team player the you have probably 'made it'.

There's a lot of kids who think they have 'made it' after reaching 8-10 games...and there lies a big problem because many kids stop working.

Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes and others have spoken about this. They never felt they had 'made it' until well into 3rd or 4th season.

I see him as being a bit of a dark horse. Without the hype of a Garner or Mejbri, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he made it. Comfortable in multiple positions and just a really good all round footballer.

He's been steadily improving over the last few years but I'd still be surprised if he made any appearances here, I think he'll end up having a respectable career. For what it's worth, I think he's been really good so far this season.

Yep, every player that is with our youth teams has the ability but most of it is about mentality, he has impressed a lot I have to say no matter where he has played, that takes mental strength so fair play to him.

Yeah there are a lot of talented midfield players in the under 18's/23's right now. I could see a situation where he perhaps gets an opportunity at right back ahead of Laird, due to the latter's injury issues. Although Williams will be preferred there and perhaps even Mengi will get games there, before transitioning to centre back. He just seems a very useful guy to have around. Multi-functional, without any sort of ego (at least in the eye of a casual observer). I think he could be a good squad player for us, but yeah heaps of competition for those places.

Yeah I've been very impressed. I have overlooked him at times, due to so many other talented central midfield players at the club. However, he is talented in his own right, a really good team player and versatile. Could be a really useful squad player for us.

With current abilities he is the best player we have in U23 setup (Mengi and Laird as first team players). Would have no problem to get minutes in League One I think, and not sure if it was good decision for him to stay in youth competitions this year. Maybe January loan is an option.

Its impossible to tell how players will transition from the youth team to the seniors. Not everyone can be Marcus Rashford. However, I think we should look to keep Puigmal if possible and see if he can hack it at senior levels. At least for a couple of years. On paper he has a lot of the gifts you would want, especially if United are going to stick with a double pivot in midfield. I think he deserves a go, maybe a few League Cup appearances, to test what he's capable of.

He will have a better career than say Ben Pearson and while I think he´s not as talented as Garner or Levitt, he´s a well drilled modern type of Spanish CM - very well rounded, with great technique and tenacity, willing to stuck in. A bit like Herrera if you asked me. He will be a very solid premier league/la liga player. Next couple of seasons will be crucial for his development though wheather he makes it as a 1st tier squadie or 2nd/3rd tier clubs as a starter. Should go out out loan for sure. Think he´s ready to play in the championship at least. Just need to extend his contract.

Don´t think we count with him for the future though and I think that´s a mistake there´s not much between all of them - Garner, Levitt, Galbraith, Puigmal

It would be great if he would extend his contract and get some loan to League One for example in January, and than Championship next year. It is not easy to get minutes in Championship, even League One for kids when you consider Levitt is struggling in League One.

It would be a massive shame to lose him in the coming months because he looks fantastic this season and his stats are of course great too.

I really can't see how he could play worse as right-winger than Mata (He isn't a right-winger in my eyes) and we have played him a lot as right-back too therefore he knows a bit to defend too.

He's finally starting to look like the gem of Espanyol's academy that we were promised when he first joined. Stepped up big time this season.

As I said a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he made it here with us. It would be such a waste if he left for Barcelona, without being given an opportunity here.

We are stacked with talented midfield players in the academy. I think Mejbri is the most talented of all and will get opportunities. Galbraith looks as if he could be useful down the line and I hope he can grow into that Carrick-like role. The first team could really do with that type of player right now and I personally feel that he's a bit more mobile and press resistant than both Garner and Levitt.

As for Puigmal though, he is a really intelligent player. A bit more subtle and understated than others, but is multi-functional and the type who could go on to be a really good addition to our squad.
