I love Martial but would have Kane as our CF. He adds that target man threat on top of anything Martial offers. If we didn’t have other areas to strengthen I would like to see us try and get his signature. But as things stand, our priorities should lie elsewhere.

Kane will cost us 200m. I wonder if we can get Raul Jimenez for 40 odd million given his age. He's 29 which makes him perfect since that would not hamper Greenwood's progress as well. Does anyone know Jimenez's contract situation at Wolves?

Kane doesn't offer what .Martial does. He doesn't have Martials pace nor dribbling or flexibility to claim that he'll add target man and what Martial offers.

The man could hardly move past the hour mark in the Arsenal game and you think he'll replace Martials pace, skills and other things

Fans really have a short memory. Under Mourinho you would laugh at me if I said Martial is as good as Kane. Now the same manager is managing the latter. Kane isn’t slow by any stretch of the imagination. In Arsenal game alone he ran entire length of the pitch with Son only to not receive the ball. He’s also being asked to play in front of 8 defenders on the counter which would take its toll on any forward. Spurs had 37% of possession in the game for your info. His issues are 90% tactical.

There’s a stat in this thread about him having lesser touches than Shaw in opposition penalty area. Not long ago our strikers were posting similar stats. Kane will probably move to Madrid soon and be back to his usual class within a few months.

He does look rather alarmingly like he's on a Torres-style career trajectory.

Break the bank for him? Nah.

I'm not saying Kane is snail slow but compared to Martial he's slow. He doesn't have Martial's pace. Ole himself recently has said that his front 3 is currently working perfectly because they all have pace, skills, technicality and finishing, Ole's words not mine.

I watched the Arsenal's game and that last chance where Son failed to square him to ball but instead choose to shoot wasn't a show of pace or speed, Kane and Son we're just through ahead in a counter which pit them in a 2 on 2.

This very same game there were moments when Kane got the ball and failed nor didn't even bother trying to run forward with the ball to attempt a counter. He just slowed down until he got dispossessed.

Kane might work at another top team but the way we're playing and the fact that Ole has mentioned that the biggest advantage he has from his front players is that they're all similar with pace, skill and finishing which means Kane won't be suitable. Kane has finishing but I wouldn't associate pace with him especially this current version of himself.

One thing that annoys me is that he never passes the ball when one of his teammates is in a better position to score (classic example, WC semi v Croatia when sterling had an open net).

I know he's a striker and they're meant to be greedy etc but open your eyes man!!! Today he was almost at Stevie M v Chelsea selfish levels
Yeah there is no doubt that Kane not squaring that chance at 1-0 cost us a play in the final

We should be nowhere near trying to sign him. He may turn things around but this stinks of Sanchez, where everyone was making excuses for his performances until we signed him, and realised he just wasnt the same player anymore..

He has kept trying to rush back from injury too often so he can win his golden boot trophies and now looks shot.

His performance yesterday was horrible: poor first touch, a lot of misplaced passes, poor offball movements, and his finishing was shocking.

He was 1 on 1 with the keeper at least 2 times from what I remember.
The bad performance was on Kane.

He really did over try. Not the Kane who's instinctive game made him so dangerous. He even tried a ridiculous curler when players were in better positions. Arsenal went on a counter just after. If they'd equalised, I wonder if Jose would have thrown him under a bus?

His confidence looks shot.

His form may be temporary but his injury record isn’t.

It would be a massive gamble for any club, even the sugardaddy ones, to spunk £100m on him at this point, even though he is in theory just entering his peak.

It actually looks like Jose is actually trying to nurture him because things are not going well lately and Jose perfectly knows that he can't be in bad terms with Kane to make sure he will remain with them on the following season.
Next season (if José keeps his job) the music will be different, though.

Three if you count with the offside :D I could forgive the first miss because the ball was bouncing and he had to decide quick, but on the other one he had all the time to make the best decision but it seems he want to practice target shooting to the keeper

Not good enough for Utd some of you lot say. Don't make me laugh.

This is his 6th season in a row when he has scored over 20 goals in all competitions. A club record.

Kane is of course elite but if were signing a spurs player I think I'd prefer Son.

Brilliant player and the peak is yet to come. Jose is not probably the best manager for him though. Put him in the City lineup and you will get Ronaldo numbers from him.

Thank you very much, you can keep him.
We are not sponsoring Spurs rebuild.

This is Martial's first season playing as a striker and he will get to minimum 25 goals this season. Pretty sure he is surpassing 30goals next season with the available supporting cast unlike Lingard/Mata/Pereira.

A top player would would instantly improve us.

Not a priority position which we need to upgrade though and Spurs would ask for silly money (£100m+). Money better spent elsewhere.

We don’t need him. He’s reached the point where he is too expensive to buy now. Obviously a great striker but Martial will come good.

Pretty sure no one has said that. He sentiment is is is not worth us spending £200m for various reasons.

That pass was absolutely ridiculous. Still, he’s not someone we need for the amount Levy would be looking.

He's absolutely fantastic, but we already have a very good striker in Martial. Given our other needs, I think it'd be silly to go after Kane.

Kane doesn't suit United under Ole. Martial does. If anyone is going to buy Kane then it should be City. I reckon he will give Spurs one more year but it feels like that's the line we say every year.

Under a tree.
Magnificent player, totally understated because he doesn't have blistering pace or does eye catching tricks.

That said I wouldn't buy him, injuries and the fact Martial is starting to realise his potential the need to look for a central striker is demising.

An right sided attacker is where we should be looking to spend big on

Please for the love of God no! Absolutely don’t want him.

If we aren’t spending 120m on Sancho, we would be stupid to blow a similar figure on him.

I will also make a stunning claim that we should sign Klopp from Liverpool.

No chance of this at all!
Agreed. He’s either at his peak or just past it. Great goal scorer for spurs but he carries different types of problems to your build up like we had with Lukaku. Good touch and close control but would absolutely require a change of footballing style to accommodate him. If we go for him, we might as well have kept Lukaku and just fire loads of crosses into him instead.

Plays nothing like Lukaku and is actually useful dropping deep. Plays already with Rashford, Sterling and Sancho for england and they seem to be coping
