So there's nothing in todays edition of L'Equipe regarding what Matt Spiro is saying?
No, it is in L'Equipe. They want 60m, he wants to leave, they want to sell, Arsenal are the only one that made an offer that was rejected and included Guendouzi plus money.

60m Euros is not that much really, fair price

Quality player, would offload Fred in a heartbeat and replace him with this guy. 20/30 net spend probably, and would be a significant jump in quality.

Was impressed with him against Bayern. Kept grafting and trying to make things happen even when two down. Rarely gives the ball away. The kind of signing that would make sense for us, but these seem to be the ones that never happen, like Kroos, Thiago, Strootman, Sneijder etc.

If his name was Phil or Dean Ole would be all over this. Honestly this is a significantly better option than an over-inflated price on an englishman like Grealish.

If Ole is prioritising depth, you're simply not going to get better value than this, this Summer. Can fill in for Pogba in a double pivot, could also fill in Bruno's spot or play LW, and 40-60M is a bargain.

Don't get the sense we are even in for him though which is madness.

I think alot of people don't want our squad to end up like the dippers back in the day.

Signing brooks is akin to signing stewart downing. Yet we don't seem to be interested in players like Aouar, because his last name isn't adams.

Exactly. We won't go for him just because his name is Houssem. He might as well be called Di Matteo or something really exotic like Bruno. With names like those we'd never sign em'.

Its something thats been quite noticable at the club.

We don't sign players that fit a certain "stereotype". I.e. muslim sounding names.

Germans too.

We seem to always stay away from those types of players.

Oh for sure. I've had many sleepless nights thinking about the clubs xenophobia and how impractical it is to have players already acclimatized, who speaks
the language fluently, and who knows the league and it's demands.

Under Fergie we had a British core and were very successful. I think there's positives in signing British and Irish players as long as they're of the required standard.

It also doesn't mean we won't sign players from abroad, we will and have done.

Given the price of british players, I'd think the club would need to look abroad more often and find those hidden gems. We were very good at doing this under SAF.

I do hope OGS follows suit. I think last summer we built a very good core of British players, including introducing a few from our academy.

I don't have a problem with the culture Ole is clearly trying to build, and AWB + Maguire were both still very good signings. But we have seen with Bruno that you're just significantly more likely to find a gem/bargain when you look further afield.

I'm not ragging on our English transfer policy but just looking at this as an isolated incident if we're looking for rotation depth across our midfield - Aouar for 40-60M > Grealish for 60-80M.

We have quite a few Muslims in the squad. Ridiculous post.

Paul Pogba, a muslim himself but maybe not muslim sounding names.

United might not sign this guy, because they would probably try to play the long game in trying, for the second time, for Cherki.

We also tried to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon who is Muslim.
That would the type of signing that would save us 50m down the road, but I doubt lyon will let him go for realistic money.

They seem to be wanting to sell Aouar and Dembele this summer and refresh the team with youth.

How do you know they were recommended to us by agents and how can anyone know what was the opinion of scouts on those players when we checked with scouts?

I agree with the general point that we should use our scouts well and make signings like we did with Hernandez.

So we tried to sign Haaland (thanks for reminding btw), so had we signed it would have been good scouting or just a player manager knew?
Haaland abit of both. Clearly he was already on our radar. But I dnt think we go for him if Ole isn’t the manager. Which in no way is a bad thing. Haaland would have been a great signing.

Just concerned that our policy seems to eliminate players on the European circuit who can offer more and if not better than the current list of targets whilst also being cheaper. The current policy we have seems to be a lot safer but I’m sure within reason.

I.e. David Brooks understands what United is about, you don’t have to sell it to him than let’s say an Isak, who might be lost as soon as things get rough or don’t go as expected.

No chance in getting Cherki any time soon..

Under a tree.
So many clowns think they have watched more football than us.
Brooks best games came as a CAM, not a winger. If only some clowns would bother to check the review by Bournemouth fans on how terrible he is playing from the wings.

Now if only they know that Aouar plays in a similar position for us.
More nonsense from you, just like your talk about Grealish, yet you can't even back it up with facts.
Why the hell do I need to speak to Bournemouth fans about his position, are Bournemouth games not televised? Just a little note, your feels are not facts.

David Brooks in his first season in the P.L had more goals than Downing managed in one season in his entire career. So no - that is insulting Brooks.

He's fine but personally don't see him as some game-changer, basically a fitter, younger Gundogan. Would be good for Arsenal if they lose Ceballos.

We have more than a few in the English Leagues full stop. I’d hoped we’d moved away from the Don Howe days of “ I’d be worried about signing Muslims;they’d be too busy praying!” Mentality

Great little player but since when did we need another playmaker? We need a DM.

Because we signed 3 British players last season (and Bruno). So now whenever we're linked to a British player in the press, we're "Brexit FC" and will never sign another foreign player ever again.

Class player, but he's got City written all over him.

They'll have no competition and will buy him for a very reasonable £50-60 million fee, whilst we're fannying around, trying to get Villa to drop their £80 million valuation of Grealish by £5 million.

He will only be a third option for the advanced midfield position.

If we sign him, we will have Aouar / Bruno / Pogba for 2 positions, that is definitely not overkill.

He provides us something different compared to the other two, he is more assured in position without loosing Mitch in creativity. He is more press resistant and can also play in the left wide position but that will be in extreme position.

However, I'd prefer to sign This go who is cheaper and will give some leadership and experience while offering most of the things he will offer.

I like Grealish despite contrary opinion that I am anti brexit, the problem with him though is the fee.
