I wonder if he can find a way to make it so when you’re watching it at home you don’t have to keep turning the volume up to hear the dialogue and then down so the explosions and gunfire don’t destroy your eardrums.

For anyone that doubts it:

The word: TENET

The letters: T¹ E¹ N¹ E² T²

Anagrams:
T¹ E² N ¹E¹ T²
T¹ E² N¹ E¹ T²
T² E¹ N¹ E² T¹,
T² E² N¹ E¹ T¹

It's actually remarkable how many anagrams of TENET you can make from TENET.

Nolan is a galaxy brain, I don't know how he comes up with this stuff.
Also, if you google “anagram” it comes up ‘nag a ram’. I think this might be a Nolan-style clue.

It looks like a combination of his previous films
Time travel/telling stories in a non-chronological fashion or general sci fi is pretty much his genre. I'm fine with that if he does it well.

1) Is Ellen Page in it?

2) On a highly related note: Why do I always fancy women who turn out to be lesbians, often as soon as I ask them out?

What happens if you ask one out who's a lesbian already?

I've done that before, as if someone who looks like a binbag of dead skunks & with a total worth of 2p could turn somebody straight through the power of lurve.

There he goes again using fancy words that I don't understand. Show off

"2p or not 2p."

Sorry. I'll bugger off now, so that normal people can return to discussing Tenet.

What if this is one of those films where if you watch the scenes in reverse order it also makes sense? You know; one of those wanker films.

Who's braving the cinema for it, then?

Reviews beginning to come in, around 70 on metacritic right now which isn't too far below what Inception and Interstellar got. Robbie Collin gave it top marks which is a decent sign.

If you love the cinema, you have to don't you? I only saw the 2* on The Guardian, though I'll save reading the reviews until after I get to see it. Will be a fun watch even if it's a bit of a mess, just like Interstellar.

I've seen a few people on twitter imply that Nolan has been the one pushing for the film to be released now, to 'save cinema', rather than delay to a hopefully Covid-free point in the future when many cinemas will have gone bust. No idea if that's true but I hope so, good for him.

...or not, if going to the cinema will help spread the virus. It's a fine balance.

Nothing is perfect at the moment, but they sound extremely safe to me. More so than restaurants, pubs or public transport. Picturehouse's safety precautions here:
What safety precautions have Picturehouse put in place to reopen?
As always, the health and wellbeing of our employees and customers is our number one priority.

In light of the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and government advice, we have put a number of safety measures in place which will allow us to provide a safe environment for our employees and customers. This includes:

  • A social distancing plan has been carefully prepared for each cinema. All aspects of the venue have been taken into consideration.
  • Film screenings will have staggered start times to allow for safe entry and exit of the cinema.
  • We are implementing new allocated seating in our screens to ensure a safe distance between customers from different households.
  • Hand sanitiser stations have been set up at each cinema for customers and employees to use.
  • Our already high cleaning standards will be enhanced by a further cleaning programme designed to clean and sanitise the high touch points within the cinema. This will be undertaken by a trained team.
  • Our staff will be provided with face coverings or visors as part of their uniform and in addition, all employees will receive specific COVID-19 training. In line with government guidelines, all customers must wear a face covering in our cinemas. Customers can remove them to eat and drink in our cafes, bars and screens.
  • We have added protective screens at our kiosk areas where social distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Contactless payments are encouraged.
  • Cafes, bars and restaurants will remain closed until further notice.
  • We are also taking part in public health authorities' Coronavirus (COVID-19) Contact Tracing scheme. To find out more, please see our privacy notice here.

How will social distancing be maintained?
All employee and customer areas will be arranged and managed so as to encourage and maintain social distancing within our cinemas.

In order to allow social distancing inside of our cinema screens, we are implementing new dynamic allocated seating which will ensure a safe distance between customers from different households. We will share more information on seating and the capacity of screens soon.

Film start and end times will be staggered to allow customers to exit without crossing paths with customers going in or out of other screens. Additional cleaning time will be added between films.

Will face coverings be mandatory for customers and your staff?

True - it's a lot easier to do things right in a cinema where people have to sit down in chairs than in any other entertainment venue (like a bar or a restaurant, as you say).

Haven't they five starred his whole career up to now? Prob shit then. I know they've definitely five starred everything after Prestige, and definitely Memento+Begins as I still have them mags somewhere in a stash.

Harsh. Will see if it's justified!

A lot of the time it becomes trendy to hate on popular stuff just like it's trendy to like it.
The Guardian tends to be spot on with regards my own personal ability to enjoy a film. They slated the latest Mission Impossible and i agreed with them on it.

The Guardian and Roger Ebert are the two reviewers i live by.

I will still rent Tenet when it becomes available.

Do you not "risk it" sometimes and try to make your own judgement? I don't think there's a person alive that can definitively tell me that I'll hate a film, occasionally it's worth a shot. Especially with blockbuster types.

Ultimately, ratings are just one person's opinion regarding a specific film. Why you'd choose whether to go see a film or not based on that is beyond me.
