I keep hearing and seeing people say that Fernandes was bought with this summers budget. Why though?

When you think about it Fernandes was technically bought for nothing. Without signing him we would most definately have finished outside the top four. That’s £30-£40 million of CL money that we wouldn’t have got. Then there is the reduction in our shirt sponsorship, probably another £20 million less.

That’s £50-£60 million that signing him has ensured we will get paid which wipes out his transfer fee. Best free signing ever?;):D
Solskjaer was asked about this at the time and agreed it would affect this Summer's budget. That's where it came from.

Alexis Sanchez (LW/ F) Inter have a continued loan. Another financial disaster for the club.

and we're supposed to trust this garbage
Doesn't make any difference to me what you believe or don't believe, its not my info, just an info dump from a guy who has been right a lot more than he's been wrong for a lot of years now. The problem with the long info drops is that sometimes parts are a little out of date, although they're usually pretty sound. The guy provides info on hundreds of players across dozens of clubs, so personally I can forgive him an occasional screw-up.

But like I said, I only shared it here because I thought there might be something of interest to you guys, its not my club. :p

There's an ITK thread for all that type of stuff.

Massive update from my favourite ITK, Ed02 from the ManchesterUnitedRumours site. He’s not a big fan of Utd so you’ll have to forgive the tone of some of it, but he has given extremely accurate information on many, many occasions so worth a read.
Surely if Villa had a serious FFP problem we would have heard about it from the tier 1 journalists like Stone, Peach etc

I know there were a lot of rumours at the end of last year that the club denied, but who knows.
Maybe at that time they thought there was a real strong possibility they could get relegated and would need to sell

My view on that 'United manager roundabout' from Twitter:

Apart from Moyes who was sacked in his first and only season, both LvG and Mourinho got signings. In 2014 Van Gaal got Shaw, Herrera, Rojo, Blind, Di Maria and Falcao on loan. Next summer as a result/award of an ok/satisfying season Memphis Depay, Schweini, Schneiderlin, Darmian and Martial on deadline day. He still managed to finish 5th in a season where all the top teams were poor. If it wasn't for Rashford (who he gave a chance only because all the other attackers were injured) we probably wouldn't won Fa Cup.

Mourinho was able to sign Bailly, Mkhitaryan, Ibra and Pogba in his first summer, followed with Lukaku, Matić and Lindelof next summer and finally Sanchez in the January transfer window. We finished that season strong league wise but Sevilla defeat (more the way we got dominated in both games) was a worrying sign for most of us and for the board as well it seems. We still signed Fred in the summer and the club just wouldn't sign Jose another CB as he got 2 in 2 summers before, which in my view was only logical with the way he was behaving that whole summer.

Even though I am not a biggest fan of Ed Woodward and co, we're acting here as if the club hasn't been spending lots of money ever since 2014.

Ole got Maguire, AWB, Bruno signings right it seems, Dan James also could be an ok option for squad depth. Even with Covid making it harder to spend, I still believe board will back Ole with few signings this summer. If they don't then it's all on them when/if we regress again next season.

They only ever spend big when we miss out on top 4 which is a complete and utter bloody disgrace in my eyes

This is the season Ole deserved to be backed to push city and liverpool. Glazers got what they want top 4 so they wont want to spend what is needed.

It will be interesting if Woodward and co will sabotage yet another decent finish in a season.

We finished 4th in 2015 and spent big that summer. LvG then led us to an awful season even when all the rivals were poor.
We didn't finish in top 4 in 2017 but qualified for UCL. Spent big again. Jose led us to strong season league wise but we embarassed ourselves against Sevilla in both legs, there was no excuse for those 2 games. And I was pro Jose basically until the end. His behaviour whole summer of 2018 was toxic, spreading the negativity around the club instead of just resigning if he was unhappy or working with what he's got without whining all the time.

Ole deserves new players. In my eyes there has been clear progression since December 2018 until our last game vs Sevilla. Covid situation makes it more difficult for the club to spend but it will inexcusable if they don't sign him at least one player thia window. But they are going to. Raiola comments from today confirm that imo.

I really admire the optimism and hope they can prove me wrong on this one but not holding my breath

I could accept buying one player late in the window, however there is no doubt we need to sign a couple more before the league starts

United fans are among the most accommodating and patient people in the world. All they had to do is to be honest with fans and then go on and sign 3-4 low key players (like the likes of Gabriel, Regulon, VDB, Willian/Fraser etc) which would have strengthened the team without breaking the bank. Instead we went for Sancho.

If a man walks into a Ferrari store then you can't blame the people around him if they think that he's loaded and he is willing to spend big.

But if the man wants to buy a Ferrari, he can't offer the price of a Ford Fiesta and expect to get it

Definitely a shit season incoming. No signings, rinse & repeat of DoF nonsense. All the signs are there. Poor Ole.

We can and should go for VdB and Reguillon. But knowing these incompetent clowns in charge, I don't really think any good is gonna happen this window.

The only player we are linked with is Sancho, which was 2 weeks ago. Since the Dortmund statement, we have been linked with no one concrete.

Reports on us going for Gabrielle, but I do not think that was the case.

This club is run by incompetent people, who will only react. There is no think tank or anything behind what we do.

The board are all profit driven and will not want to invest for the purpose of the team.

It's worrying that we're hearing pretty much nothing. Even the papers are barely bothering to make shit up about us.

Chelsea finished on the same amount of points as us and look at what they're doing in the market. The club is backing Lampard and his vision. We seriously need to get a fecking move on. The season starts in a few weeks.

tbf Chelsea haven't spent anything due to their ban so they have a pot of money available that we spent last year

Trying to stay rational, theres still around 4 weeks left to the start of our PL campaign and even longer for the transfer window. I think we're all really nervous because Ed takes forever to do deals and we always end up paying what the selling club wants. Personally, seeing the signings Chelsea are making is really irritating, they were already so close to us last season and with their new signings they're probably better than us now.

Another thing thats making me nervous is the fact that Sancho by himself (if we sign him) is not enough. We still need a starting CB, CM and a LB as well imo.

Ed has to come through, feck this "playing for 3rd/4th" bullshit.

I know but that club has real ambition. Ziyech, Werner, Chilwell, Havertz, Silva. That's over £200M and there's still over a month to go in the window. They are backing Lampard while it looks like our board don't want to spend anything before we sell players. It would be nice to get signings in earlier in the window so they have more time to bed in.

Or maybe when the man walked into the Ferrari store only to be told that it has to be cash-only when he was told moneths ago that they had some ability to negotiate at the start by his mate who works at the store?

Negotiate or not, you will never get a Ferrari for the price of a Fiesta. simple as.

Three weeks to go before the new season. I was shocked watching the CL final last night and the Charity Shield is this coming Saturday. The thread should change it's title to "three weeks to go".

Let's put our logical hat on for a moment.

Ed has baulked at paying the full asking price for Sancho but we were prepared to pay possibly £ 70 million+ with add ons. OGS knows that Sancho alone is not enough so is it logical to assume that we have at £ 70 million to spend PLUS more for a couple more signings?
