I don't know why but I wish him the very best. It feels like he left a place that he really loved and I really don't want him to have regrets.

I think he'll be a great player for us. Footballers with a high football IQ make the difference. VdB and Sancho make us better and a LB and CB complete us.

Nice to see that OGS remains true to his philosophy!
Young, talented, but already experienced.
De Jong, Zyiech and van de Beek were the real diamonds at Ajax in the last 3 years.

I agree, watching all those heartwarming videos and messages from Ajax nearly makes me feeld bad that we signed him. Such a classy club. Hope Donny smashes it here and fulfils his new dream.

Oh my word. Its an option to suit specific games atleast which means VdB improves that starting 11 for a diamond.

Rashford Martial
Fernandes
Pogba VdB
Matic
Williams Maguire Tuanzebe AWB
De Gea
If thats the team Ole plans on playing we still desperately need bench players I think VDB will rotate with Bruno/Pogba and if/when Sancho comes Someone else will drop to the bench so thats 2 awesome subs already we will just have to see what Ole has planned :)

We've spent the last 18 months (at least) pursuing Sancho to play on the RW. Unless we're playing him at RB, we're not going to play with a diamond.

And we don't have full backs that would work in that formation.

Welcome Donny! Amazing that we've gone from a year ago having Mata, Lingard or Pereira as our No.10 options to Bruno, DVB and Pogba after he came back from his injury. Excellent value, with Bruno and DVB combined a little above the cost of one Jack Grealish.

Ajax is a classy club. Unlike the BlackYellow twats east of the border.

Can we sign someone else from Ajax? They are a very good club to deal with, very pleasant people.
Also, we might sell someone back to them

Not yet sold on him as a top player from what I've seen, but he's young and at a very good price, so fingers crossed! Ajax seem to really value him, so that bodes well.

I tend to agree.

Doesn't feel like the most natural signing I have to say, but hopefully there is a plan for him. This squad is absolutely desperate for any kind of depth, so if he can take some of the workload off our starting eleven that would be a good start. And who knows, maybe he'll even turn out to be competitive for a position in that same line up somwhere down the line as well.
Out of curiosity, in what sense is he not a natural signing?

On a related note, Ole and the club spent a good amount of time and effort to ensure that Donny was the right fit for the club.

I must say, this is a big step forward for us; from signing whatever player was deemed good enough regardless of their background, personality, etc., to now getting players who'd be hungry and willing to play for the club. These are the sort of signings that will move the club forward.

Anyone knows the details why his RM move failed?
COVID-19 impacted Real Madrid's finances, and they could no longer afford to pay for him. After that, I think their plans changed and they weren't necessarily pursuing van de Beek as strongly as they did before.

Superb signing tbh. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of watching United games, especially you also land Sancho. Top 4 is going to be interesting.

This is the feeling I get from watching him. I loved Herrera, despite him never fully reaching his potential here with us. I will be ecstatic if VdB can exceed Ander's performances from his time here.

He is much better in the attacking phase then Herrera.

like fergie used to say, the midfield is the engine room, and we have been lacking in that area for a while- i mean how long did it take to replace Scholes etc ( not saying Pogba/Fernandes.VdB are the new scholes)
