Who is the worst club to buy players from? Players that, on paper should be perfect for your club, but when they get there they arrive a crock, riddled with injuries. Or not as good as they seemed at the time.

In the Prem, I think its a close right between us, City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Arsenal definitely have a history of selling decent players who go on to be crap elsewhere. RVP was thankfully one of the exceptions.

I don’t really know what you mean. You say Chelsea but they have sold players like De Bruyne & Salah over the last several years who have gone on to become world class players. Likewise with Arsenal & Serge Gnabry.

Bayern often seem to hold on to players until they are completely finished before letting them go. Although there are certainly exceptions to that, Toni Kroos being the one who springs to mind.

It depends on the club that’s buying, and the style of football they play, and whether that’s a fit.

Lots of good players have left Chelsea and gone into good things, I don’t think they fit this criteria.

Arsenal is a good shout, as often the system played at Arsenal (under Wenger), made them look better than they were - and players then didn’t perform to the same standard when they left.

Dortmund are a great example, so many players leave there and then fail to perform to expectation.

We don’t sell many big players, so I don’t really think it can be levelled at us, and players that have left have done well for other clubs, albeit often there was some adjustment as it’s usually a step down.

Other than Lewandowsky, I can't think of a Dortmund player that made it elsewhere. Bayern is another one other than Kroos.

Gnabry?

Nasri and Fabregas won leagues after leaving.

Absolutely. Yet you see the same muppets barking on about how we should sign thiago and not doing so is a sign of our lack of ambition.

Yes lets go sign another injury prone 30 year old midfielder who bayern are willing to let go. What could go wrong?

Aubameyang and to a lesser degree Hummels and Gundogan.
I forgot about Auba, he definitely counts. Hummels and Gundogan probably not as you say. That is one of the reasons not that fussed about Sancho, Dortmund have burnt a lot of clubs.

Yes. He clearly didn’t think the post through & just thought about our last 2 dealings with Dortmund.
And transfers often fails, I don't think that Dortmund have a particularly negative record. What they do have though is that they are generally competitive and their players can be hyped up which creates overexpectations in particular when all their managers have had the habits to build systems that fit the players at their disposal.

Isn't Pulisic doing a well? Also Isak and Ginter are making their current clubs very happy.
Mikel Merino as well, didn't get any playing time at Dortmund but is now. Spain international after first doing decently at Newcastle and now at Españyol.

This whole Dortmund players don't play well at other clubs is overplayed. Gotze and Dembele had huge injury problems that had nothing to do with their playing abilities. Gundogan has done pretty well at City for me, he played a big role in their 100 point season since KdB was out for much of that season. Hummels was also great at Bayern but unlucky in the UCL because of those two matchups versus Madrid.

I'm sure if Sancho does come here there will be no issues with his playing ability. Especially since our offensive play has improved tremendously with Ole.

BVB is a mixed bag and if you're Bayern then they're very easy to deal with

Us? Half the clubs in the league pyramid have an ex-United youngster - often bought at a very good price (seemingly because SAF felt helping the kid out was as important as making some money) - in their first team and doing very well for them.

Generally speaking though, we only let a player go if they're not good enough for us. So you can't expect them to be making a team better than us. But as some examples Neville was a very well thought of Everton captain. O'Shea the same for Sunderland. Michael Keane is in the England set-up. Simpson won the Premier League. Johnny Evans having a good PL career.

Perisic and Kampl didn't do too bad after leaving either.

Then there's Immobile, I don't know what happened with him at Seville. Technically fits its in with this as he didn't even play for them after they signed him permanently as far as I can make out but that was their mistake as he's obviously been very good for Lazio.

Exactly. Look at Ciro Immobile. His stock has gone up astronomically since Dortmund

I didn't really want to mention the Bayer boys but both Kampl and Bender have done well. And I didn't know where to put Immobile since Sevilla are the ones who sold him to Lazio but yeah, he has been incredible in Serie A, arguably the best striker for several seasons now. We can also add Perisic to the list.

If there was a vote the club that should win is Lyon or Benfica, there seems to be a rule where these two clubs will make you pay more than you should on every single transfers and they will make every negotiation last a decade while briefing the press on a daily basis.

If it was a neutral forum yes. But as this is a United forum we see everything through that lens and everything else has less weight. On this forum Dortmund will win. They gave Klopp to Liverpool and us Kagawa and Mikhi.

Arsenal are probably one that springs to mind.

Southampton are the opposite. They sell a player and he most likely becomes world class.
