Impressed with Donny. He is calm in possession, press resistant, technically very good but throng that impressed me the most is he has a real engine on him! Constantly showing for the ball and making smart runs. He’ll be great for us this season

That's because it finished 1 nil, you can watch the game on the Aston villa app and fast forward to the end.......it stays 1 nil
James created a ton of chances in the first half, but no one would get to the end of them. In the 2nd half, once Ighalo was subbed off, James had no one to supply the crosses to. Neither Lingard nor Rashford ever attached the 6-yard box whenever the ball went to the wide areas, which hampered our ability to score goals.

Surely no one expected out first 11. Game time for the squad players is clearly extremely useful.
10 mins left now and I've only half watched this as I'm with company, but seemed to me that TFM and especially McTominay have impressed. James could have had 3 assists if players had actually gambled when they should, but overall not much to take away from this.
Itll be very interesting to see what team we field when it matters next weekend. Might be a few weeks before we get to see a strong XI

This game was the first time that I have been a bit disappointed with Ighalo and can see where Ole is coming from not using him so much in the run-in last season.
Is this worth watching or garbage?
Both Lingard and James have done much better than Rashford in this friendly who is supposed to be our undisputed starter...
Worth watching. First half in particular was good.
It's worth the watch if you want to evaluate our players and determine whether they're ready. If you're also participating in FPL, this match is good for scouting new recruits for next week.
It seems like Rashford's adapting to a new role in the team. He's playing more and more like a creative player than a goalscorer. He drops deeper on the left flank to pick up the ball early and play it through to a runner. He looks to get on the ball instead of making a run beyond the defensive line.
We'll have to get used to him popping up in deeper areas and making less runs past the last line.
Mengi looks absolutely class, genuinely think he can be a solution for our CB spot.
how old is elanga? any chance for him getting minutes this season?
Daniel James is a nice lad, really is but he’s waaaaay out of his depth at this level. After that flying start when he first joined, he has regressed further and further. Needs a loan and then hopefully he can kick start his career with a move to another club. Will never be at our level unfortunately.

Slim to none, to be honest, unless our attacking players suffer injuries. This'll be the first time Elanga will play with the U23s regularly, so I doubt he'd get minutes for the first team this season.
Was impressed with VDB, he’s a classy player. I think he will combine very well with our other attackers. I have to say I’m getting fed up of Rashford, I really think we need Sancho. He won’t take Greenwood out the side...

He could be some player, looks so confident on the ball.
In his defence from this game he put two or three really good crosses into dangerous places and our players steadfastly refused to make runs towards the back post or the 6 yard box. If we had attackers with half a brain or some desire to score goals he comes away with a couple of assists and his job is done.
