Who gives a feck about the press? He'll need to learn to handle the noise because he's a striker playing for Manchester United and is labeled a future star. The noise will be there regardless of what he does, as we've seen. Was there for Rashford as well a couple of years ago, despite being the footballers version of a Saint.
So it’s great having negative stuff written about you every day about on footballing issues?

I really have no idea what you are going on about.

His idol is Ronaldo Luis Nazario, who used to has sex party before a game. It's not surprising for the lad.

These rumors about him in English media is fecking ridiculous. I don't have sympathy for him either, but does he need sympathy though? just leave the boy alone and stop digging into his life outside the pitch.

So it's either great or awful? How about as he said just ignore it? And this has nothing to do with footballing issues.

People here defending Greenwood for inhaling hippy crack but condemning Grealish for the same offence. Get real. I like Greenwood but whatever is coming out of his camp is indefensible. Just accept the boy is on the verge of losing the plot. He ain't a stranger to that kind of lifestyle. Ravel Morrison is still a living example of what happens when you lose focus. Greenwood is in danger of going down that path. Do people on here still defend his stupidity or call it out for whatever it is?

No double standards here.
You're a troll.

I'm pretty sure that's not why R9 was his idol though.

The media will always cover such incidents. My ignoring it doesn’t change anything.

Anyway, I’m of the opinion that this is not a healthy activity, and I’ve seen some young kids get addicted to it. You think OGS is ignoring it or even endorses this stupidity? If so, why has Greenwood apologised and asked others not to follow his behaviour?

And I can also see a very concerning trend of a young person who is acting consistently outside of accepted or lawful behaviours.

Indeed, but Ronaldo's prime was 99-02. That's way before he was born, pretty sure he watched the documentary or biography or something about Ronaldo's life style.

Ronaldo recently also said he didn't regret his wild life style, called it as therapy and important to release the pressure. Imagine what a teenager thinking when he heard that from his idol.

All I'm saying is that it's possible Mason doesn't know about that part of it and just enjoyed youtube compilations on the player. Even if he did, it doesn't mean it's had an impact on him. Mason seems to be a bit of a party boy naturally. I do think it's a possible red flag as he gains more notoriety but it's also just as possible he learns from it and doesn't repeat the mistakes others have made. It's just too early to tell.

Can we stop calling it ‘hippy crack’ FFS... a ridiculous, deliberately provocative name only ever used by tabloid journalists

Plus it makes you sound like the dad in a teen sitcom telling them the wacky backy will ruin their lives

Going from bad to worse. Looks like the hype has got the best of him.Ole needs to get a grip here. Hope he doesnt have a bad group of friends like Ravel had
I’m confused as to how taking laughing gas implies someone believes their own hype.

Grealish inhaled hippy crack. Thats the only reason Gareth Southgate hates him. Mason Greenwood inhales hippy crack .Do you think Southgate should apply the same standards to Greenwood?
This is an United forum. Nobody gives a feck about Grealish, go to a Villa forum if you're so keen to discuss Grealish. What a bizzare post.

What botters me is that he should know he will be targeted specially after the national team thing, he should be smart enough to stay away from trouble, even if its as silly as that laughing gas thing.

How do we know this was in the timeframe the Sun said? And even if it was in their specified time period, this was before the national team thing.

Don't be ridiculous.
Come up with a reasonable defence of his actions otherwise your statement is pointless. We are dealing with a kid who has been kicked out of the England national team camp for a pre meditated breakdown of lockdown rules And now he is a smoker of illegal hippy crack

There is nothing bizarre about comparing people's behaviour. And just because its a United forumn it doesn't mean we can't talk about players from other teams. We talk about Messi, Ronaldo, Sterling here so what's your point?

He looks a lot younger and smaller in the video. His tattoo is also missing. This to me looks like someone has found this on their phone from years ago and has thought they would sell it to the scum for a quick payout. Scum media obviously pouncing on it after the Iceland debacle.

Is this the first footballer scandal you are experiencing?

Mason is a 19 year old millionaire athlete. He probably has done and will do worse than what the media have surfaced.

Have you not read about Giggs' early years? Yorke, Rooney, Evans, Rojo, Nani, Anderson, Ronaldo all had been involved in sex scandals. So what?

As for the laughing gas, it is the popular thing kids do. Like alcohol for most generations before and still is for most now.

And yet some dimwits over here say that English tabloids are very lenient and cover up misdoings of British players :)

As usual, the lack of nuance is infuriating. He shouldn't have put that stupid snapchat up with his ex girlfriend, He shouldn't have brought the girl back to his hotel in Iceland, he shouldn't have inhaled nitrous oxide. However the media backlash, and total over exaggeration of this stuff is absolutely shameful. Half these journos get off on this shit, I've seen people compare him to Ravel Morrison for Christs sake. He's a teenage millionaire, and the hottest prospect in his country, he will make mistakes.

Hopefully he's learned his lesson after a well deserved bollocking from Ole and Mike. I wonder how well he gets on with Rashford, who although only a few years younger could prove to be an excellent role model to him.

Greenwood will have learned an invaluable lesson in the past couple of weeks. Let’s not jump off at the deep end though, this is fairly standard stuff for a kid of his age.

Shit happens and he is 18. If he becomes repeat offender then judge him. Hope he learns, gather right people around him and move on with his job.

Amazing how the English press want to go out of their way to knock down a promising young English player rather than build them up and protect them

The correct question to ask is why hasn’t Scholes, Andy Cole, Gary Neville, Ole, Schmeichel, Carrick, all behave like this when they were his age? No point justifying his actions by pointing out the fact that Grealish et al also behaved similarly.

If he wants to succeed, he needs to measure himself up against good behaviours by successful players. There will always be someone worse than you but that is not the point is it?

Why would he take Rooney and Giggs as role models for behaviours? For playing style of course, but not for off the pitch stuff *facepalm*.

Oh my bad, I thought you said if he wants to succeed and be successful he should follow suit of players that behaved. Yeah you're right, Giggs and Rooney were failures, *facepalm*

No no, you are misunderstanding me. He should follow examples of good behaviours by successful players, not bad behaviours by successful players. Giggs and Rooney are not failures as they have been successful on the pitch, but off the pitch they have made some errors in judgement which have been well documented. They should not be a point of reference for that.

Of course he should follow examples of well behaved players, but it isn't as black and white as you make out. He could be one of the worlds best like Giggs and Rooney, have the most successful career at Man Utd as possible and still be a little shit off the field. George Best anyone? Obviously I want him to be well behaved and not follow suit off the field as pre-mentioned naughty boys, but I was just pulling you up on your comment of "if he wants to succeed" It just comes across like if he doesn't be a good boy he will be a failure which isn't true.

Does anyone actually care what Southgate thinks or does? Him and his little waistcoat. Losing the respect of Fergie might be a blow but Southgate?! In particular after those disgraceful comments after the game.

I hope he banishes Greenwood from the squad. It was far too early to pick him for the senior international team anyway. He could do a lot worse than just concentrate on United for now.
