All I'm getting from this is that there is something seriously rotten within the squad and I'm not sure it's actually Jose this time.

There is a brilliant statement from Jose in ep. 7. Something like, i bring with myself the expectation of winning everytime.

For me that seemed to be the real issue with the squad. This, win at all costs attitude seems clearly lacking. And even in their "leaders", this attitude that Jose wants isnt there.

They failed to back Poch soon enough. They waited until he'd got to the point where his energy was gone and then made questionable signings.

There's clearly some players there with very fragile egos or attitude problems and for them Jose is absolutely not the manager to turn that around.

They've added some solid but unremarkable players this window, but are still an injury to Kane away from struggling badly.

Tough season ahead I think

I know Jose is all being pragmatic and stuff but can't imagine myself sitting in that dressing room, at half time, after a positive performance in the first half, hearing my manager instructing us to focus on not making any mistakes, not getting ahead of ourselves etc. That's not something I would deem positive.

Yes, the manager's job to help players keep a level head but every other talk he has its like major focus on "not making a mistake, not conceding goals" etc etc.

What would you deem positive? "Relax, we won this game even though it's only HT, let's focus on the next game"?

I think that the way the message is passed is not motivating enough. Although I would say that they haven't shown any entire HT talk but I can only draw conclusions from what I see.

Beating us was the highlight of their season. Love how they conveniently skipped the part where us winning the FA Cup meant they to go through qualifying rounds :D
Anyway, you can clearly see the signs that unless they can get a good run quickly, this squad and club is about to implode. Laughed at the bit where their transfer guy says that they have clearly identified what they need and will give Mourinho what he needs. Skip forward and José have Doherty, Hojbjerg and trying to get that Sorloth dude.
That's way too recent for it to be included in the Doc, would have been filmed edited and with Amazon by that point. That was what? 1st August?

Wayyyy too late to be included.

I enjoyed this documentary. I didn't watch the city one, but Jose was a massive draw for me, so I thought i'd watch it. Really interesting to get an insight iinto how clubs work. I think Son has really taken to Mourinho. It's odd to see such talented and competitive people, fail to self motivate though. Thier dips in form at crucial times. Unlucky with injury though.

The episode about Corona bought back all the tension i felt in March/April.

Yeah that was really irresponsible by Jose. He tried to be clever with his words and say it was Son that didn’t want a scan. But you could see he didn’t care what the doctor said, he wanted Son to play and to just brush whatever the problem is under the carpet.
Good shout. Glad for Son that Spurs had a decent medical team. Mourinho would have had him playing with a broken elbow.

Funny for someone who was comfortable sidelining Pogba, Mourinho really was petrified of him coming on in their game against us.

It really becomes clear from all his team talks why his teams end up terrified of playing any expansive creative football. Everything he says is about correcting mistakes, protecting leads, closing the game out. Obviously we knew that already but it's interesting to hear it in real time.

Also turns out Dier didn't go on that rampage into the crowd to protect his brother. He was just angry someone was shouting some mean words at him. What a half wit.

Jose in the presser afterwards was defending him for that, saying we all would have done it

I found it funny that during the entire series they kept showing him giving tactical instructions to push up and press and attack.

But what we see on the field is the complete opposite. Just shows the power of editing

Either that or they obviously aren't showing even 20% of the full picture.

Just like how they glossed over multiple losses, jose meltdowns, the dier ban or failed to show ndombele until the final episode

I wish they could have continued into this season. Would have been gold.

The moment with Ndombele meeting Levy was so cringe. They really could not find anyone in London who actually speaks French & English ? That old fella was translating using some basic school french and insisting on ending every sentence with "mon ami"
He must have been so frustrated and i'm sure they've cut some expletives, there is no way that talk was that polite.

They cut out the part where he asked to leave the club.

Hence why there was no handshake or anything at the end.

Gotta hand it to these Amazon guys, they know how to make their subjects look good. Levy comes off as totally reasonable, humble, and down-to-earth, almost a father figure who's constantly hanging around the club and would put an arm around your shoulder when you're feeling down. He even brings up a personal story to relate with Tanguy during the meeting.

The more I see of Mourinho the more I see why his techniques only work short term. Causing conflict and division in the squad might get them fired up for a few games but it won't work long term.

Mourinho and Levy discussing Winks was hilarious. Levy just agreeing like Andy Millman in Extras with the film director.

Mourinho could of said, "Winks is probably the fastest player in the premiership"

Levy nods, "he is, so so fast"

Mourinho, "yeah, most skillful too"

Levy nods again.

And lots on here fell for it saying they would do the same. Goes to show how much bullshit is said to the press and how it’s lapped up

Mourinho seems just constantly to drum into his team how good the other team are, it is crazy.

Yep. It is a strong word but that was a bloody disgrace. Thankfully it’s brought to light now because he tried it with a top player like Son, because no one batted an eyelid when he threw Jones and Smalling under the bus for not playing through injury.

On a side note, this must be a different medical team. I’m not sure if it’s the same guys but I remember a few idiots allowing Vertonghen to carry on in the Ajax game in 2018-19. Even as a United fan, I felt infuriated at the irresponsibility shown by them. Thankfully these guys stood up to Mourinho.

EDIT: Here it is, I swear it was against West Ham..

Overall its a good watch. Its a good PR job for especially Levy who comes across well. Jose comes across as somebody who does and says a lot of the right things but is being let down. I thought he dealt with the Son/Lloris thing well.

I dont know if its the editing but a lot of the teamtalks seem to focus more on the negatives than the positives. It doesnt focus on what players are doing well and should continue. But its almost as if saying, I know you guys will make a mistake, so please this time try not to.
10 seconds later.
And Spurs have conceded.

I think Son and Winks come off well in the whole show.
Dier comes off the worst for me. The part with him rushing into the crowd is made even worse by his explanation. Im surprised they didnt just edit that out.

Would have been really fascinating if this was done with no input from Spurs. Im still laughing at Joses celebrations on getting Europa (but would be funny if they cant even get past the qualifiers, but we know they will)

Guy who comes off worst to me is Alli, bascially confirms he has the mentality of a petulant child. I think at one point Dier even says he's acting like a "spoilt child".

I'm also surprised how passive Vertonghen and Alderweireld are and expceted them to have much more influence in the dressing room for some reason.

He constantly reminds his own team how the opponents can fcuk them and fcuk them bad. Despite all his reminders, they kept getting fcuked.

I find Jose’s fascination with average players very strange. He loves to go into a club and put bang average players on a pedestal. He was pumping up Dier, Alli and Winks in the series. 3 nothing players. He did the same at Utd. His go to hero’s were the likes of Fellani and Young.

I genuinely think that the celebration in the final fixture when 6th was confirmed was done with the documentary in mind. Don't see any other reason at all.

Also, this is why I don't trust the Amazon documentaries. They're more of a PR job than showing a behind the scenes story.

Sunderland till I Die will remain a benchmark for the perfect behind the scenes documentary. I made my girlfriend watch that and she became an avid watcher of sports documentaries including The Last Dance and now the Spurs one. What I could gauge here was that from a neutral perspective, my gf actually had the narrative of how Spurs were 14th and Mourinho got them to 6th when they had so many injuries etc and how it was a great achievement. I thought that it would be an uphill battle for me to convince her otherwise but the Everton game did that job for me.

 Post of the year. Well done.
Now that you are on Netflix, watch Sunderland till I die, watch Micheal Jordan and Bulls Last Dance. And you can watch Money Heist, aka La Casa de Papel. And so many more there. No, I don't work for Netflix. Just trying to help make you feel better, and not to waist money, now that you subscribed.

The recos were good until Casa de Papel which is an awful show. Other much better things to watch on there Paddy.

Just not the Spurs docu

Mourinho looks like a priest from those brainwashing evangelical churches making speeches.
