Sanchez was available on a free, so the fact that the club got a player for him was good business.

However it just so happens that both players have been crap for their respective clubs. That swap deal was a waste of everybody's time (apart from the agents).
That’s not true, he wasn’t available on a free. If either Utd or City bought him at the time of the swap a fee would have been due - he still had 6 months of his contract left.

Still an appalling deal all round.

As in on a Bosman at the end of the season- yeah I should have been clearer (but sure most people knew what I meant, who has a contract expire in January?)

Guess he should do very well for another 2-3 seasons but looks like no big clubs are interested in him?

You can blame Wenger for that. City were in for him in the summer for a good fee but Wenger turned them down and the rest is history. If we had sold him to City we would have picked up a nice fee while your problems with him would have been transferred to City.

United didn't want to wait for May because City were definitely interested as well.

And Charlie Nicholas apparently wrote that there only are 2 better clubs in England for Aubameyang right now - Liverpool and City. He apparently thinks that Arsenal are better than United.

OMG! :)
Not unreasonable

Liverpool and City are the 2 best teams in the league

Big respect for this guy. 59 goals in 82 games for Arsenal. Stud.

The big, big teams did not 'respect' him enough.

If he has any ambition to win a league or a European competition should be looking for a way out

He was a victim of Barto's stupidity. PEA would have been a brilliant signing for Barcelona when he was waiting for an offer from the Catalans. Aubameyang could have done what Suarez was no longer able to do, but I guess emperor Messi wouldn't have allowed it.

Under Arteta has become a big game player for us, his record and performances in those games has been lacking but since the restart has shown up in most big games.

He is so much more effective on the left, as a CF his lack of hold up play gets exposed against the top sides. He isn't really that good at playing with his back to goal.

Is he a top 3 striker in the world now? Lewandowski is undisputed number one, and I'd still say Benzema is better, but after that, would he be number three?

Well he almost entirely plays from the left so should be compared with other wide left forwards rather than traditional number 9's

Lewa, Haaland and Kane/Benzema for me. I see the likes of Auba, Werner, Rashford etc. more as wide forwards than out and out strikers.

Surprised you’d imagine any other team currently in the top 2
Suprised you would imagine Arsenal to be in contention to be 3rd best team in the country

I didn’t say that - I merely agreed that Liverpool and City are the league’s best 2 teams

He was not saying Arsenal was the 3rd best club. His was effectively saying there’s no point going elsewhere than Liverpool or City as none of the other contenders are likely to win trophies let alone titles. Seems a fair point to me. Also, why would you want to live in Manchester where it rains 1 day in 3 and when it doesn’t rain (apart from 10 days a year) the sky is the colour of battleship grey? And don’t get me started on curry sauce on chips.

Did you mean gravy? Plenty of curry sauce on chips in London, mate.

I don't blame him if he wants out to win trophies at this stage of his career, but seems like no big club with realistic chance of winning the league interest in him so he is "stuck" with Arsenal. So getting a big fat contract from arsenal probably is his best interest financially. If Barca comes calling I think he will leave right away, but I highly doubt Barca wants another age 30+ player in the team.

I'd deffo have him here. Him and a right winger could be mega and improve our depth massively along with VDB.

He won't get this contract else where during pandemic. 3 year deal for £250k/week at age 31. This is his last big contract. Happy to see him stay.

This is one of the few times we’ve managed to retain such an in form player at this point in his career during the Emirates era. Delighted he’s signed I don’t think there is anyone in the PL in better form than he is.

250k? Didn't David ornstein report Auba will be paid more than Ozil?

250k base and god knows how much if bonuses are met. (He usually earn them since they're mostly about goals)

Wish ManUtd player wages were reported like this instead of including all possible bonuses. At least would put an end to mindless "lol williams earn more than TAA," nonsense.
