Given we're likely going into the season without a right-sided forward, hopefully Ole et al are using him as the least bad option. A full year of training and performing on that side should at least improve him.

If nothing else, he should be able to work towards a passable Valencia impersonation - stay on his right foot, be fast over 2 yards than anyone, cross hard with right foot.
I think he'll stay as our left-sided back up. Greenwood's output is far too good to ever consider dropping him. Scarily I think Mata or Lingard are our current RW back ups.

One of Valencia’s biggest attributes was his strength though. He had great balance & was rarely knocked off the ball. James would get knocked over by a gust of wind.

Traore at Wolves is a more sutible comparison with Valencia than James.
That's fair, but James should still be reasonably effective just due to his speed wtih the ball. I'd obviously prefer we had Traore though!

If we played with an out and out striker like Haaland he’d rack up assists. But we don’t so his decision making looks poor

His decision making still sucks, he's just better at the left side in terms of positioning. He gets into better areas and crosses faster.

On the right he doesn't do that, he stays too wide then can't beat them on the outside as he's took weak so just goes backwards. His long range crossing is poor too.

As a backup to Rashford on the left he's fine.

Agreed, not good enough on the right to be considered. If he shows better form on the left this season, then great; he'll provide more serious competition for Rashford, which will both take the pressure off his shoulders and keep him on his toes.

Why do you think that? His crossing isn't good and final pass and decision making also is bad.
He puts a lot of balls into dangerous areas. We just don't have that forward that will gamble in those types of situations. Probably drives Ole mad.

Someone like Vardy would be on the end of a few of those.

Still think there's a very useful squad player in him.

He was overplayed last season and burnt out. Expecting more from him more consistently this time around, especially if we bring in more cover for the RW.

Agree, needs time and to be given a chance. I still think he has potential, shown by his start at United and the faith shown in him by Ryan Giggs. At worst he hopefully become a decent impact player or solid squad member.

He's still not a footballer, and he still doesn't deserve a place in a Man Utd squad, let alone being in the starting 11.

Sell him soon as possible.

The longer he stays the more chance he gets a higher wage that no one will buy him for.

Bin him next summer.

He's not on high wages, so it won't be difficult. We took a punt and it failed.

Absolutely. It's Periera etc all over again. Get rid of deadwood and then add some. Well run clubs wouldn't hold on to a player because he seems a nice fellow. But we will, because he scored some goals in his first few matches.

Different kind of poor compared to other players. Don't think he was as bad as Rashford for example, but James once again just showed he had no idea what he wanted to do on the pitch to affect the match for us. He's quite limited.

Stop playing him on the right, I'm sick of it. I'm sick of shoehorning players in that fecking RW position every season.

He's not even that good, why make him worse by sticking him in a worse position?

Players like this need to just be shown the door, it brings the standard benchmark of the squad down and also isn't good for the lads career.

He'll be sold for a relegation fodder next summer. He has no business playing at such level, I'm sorry.

And I don't see any fecking talent here.

Difficult to blame him for this level as he obviously tries hard.

The bigger problem is why did we buy him and why the manager keeps playing him, he clearly is seeing something in him the rest of us can't.

It's obvious he is way way over his head at United.

He has age on his side so loan him out ffs. Let him improve elsewhere, not at the expense of United every game.

No. He's just bang average. Blaming one of our better players for his mediocrity is something else,.

I always thought of him as a decent option to bring off the bench against a team that's pressing us, so he can use his pace to get a proper counter attack going. It boggles my mind that we're trying to get him to break down parked buses when he simply doesn't have the talent for it.

We should have players like zaha as reserve winger in the club instead we have a player who is probably not PL level.

Under a tree.
I mean he wasn't great but he keeps getting played on the right while Rashford has been awful as well.
His recent game for Wales he played well and was on the left...

Absolutely, to me he always looks like a fan who's won a grand prize to play at Old Trafford for us. Atrocious footballer.

When you look at him and think; "Lingard should have started the game"
Lingard is shit, and yet would offer considerably more than James... It’s crazy how this guy plays for the biggest football club in the world while not being good at football. He wouldn’t look out of place in a Sunday league game.

It tells how bad his signing has been that we're arguing that Lingard would be better than him. Almost Bebe like signing with the added bonus we're not good anymore and he plays quite often.
