Dalot has been plagued with injuries for most of his two years at the club. His whole demeanour and body language suggests his confidence is shot as well.
We shouldn’t forget he had just turned 19 when he came here and at 21, is still one of the youngest members of the first team squad (he’s only 9 months older than Chong and is a year younger than TFM).
A move to a foreign country, a different culture and language and away from your family can be difficult at the best of times, especially at a young age.
It doesn’t matter how good a young player is, some will cope with it better than others. I strongly suspect Dalot is one of those who has found it quite difficult to settle here and fit in.
There’s still loads of time to turn it around and nurture this player, if he wants to stay and Ole wants to keep him. I’d rather take that chance, rather than hanging onto 27 and 28 year old never-have-beens like Lingard or Jones.

You could say he could be coached to become better or will become better with more game time. Then the issue with him is that his fitness record is close to that of Jones. Jones was more talented at Dalots age but injuries have decimated him and unfortunately I see Dalot along with Axel going in the same direction.

He’s never impressed me aside from his home debut vs Fulham (Tranmere doesn’t count), and his injury record is abysmal. People may use that as an excuse, but it’s a lame one. Isn’t a bad injury record, you know, supposed to be a bad thing?

I’d get rid now. What’s more, £15m each for him and Pereira will fund the remaining bit of the Sancho deal. They’re on low wages too, so I don’t understand what’s so difficult in putting this plan into action.

I actually do think he has a good mentality and personality which will be a shame to lose. He seems to love it at Utd and i do think he still has talent but I’m just not sure Ole is convinced by him. Maybe if he could stay fit he would get a chance this season.

He's now officially taken Darmians role in the squad, totally wiped out.

Honestly I'd rather watch him on the right wing than James. At least he showed some semblance of dribbling and taking on his man.

I'm not having it that he's a worse option than Fosu-Mensah.

He deserves to be given a chance and match time, especially with us lacking an attacking fullbacks.

I’m not saying your wrong, but how on earth can you say he’s got a good mentality? There has been nothing to suggest he has a good or bad mentality. The fact he’s not played, and not been able to get in the team means his mentality or ability is questionable. This is his 3rd season, and we have no idea whether he can play.

Came with a big reputation, perhaps that was because Jose bigged him up for him own benefit, but I’ve seen nothing to suggest he can make it as a player for a decent club. Doesn’t mean I’m throwing him on the scrap heap, but I just can’t see it. Would love to be proved wrong, and hope he’s given a chance if he deserves it.

Bruno came in and said that Dalot was very warm and welcoming to him when he first arrived. His social media indicates to me he’s a popular figure in the dressing room who genuinely loves being at the club. That’s just my personal opinion from all the things I’ve seen.

He needs a loan or we have to sell him since its obvious that we are going to remain the only "top" team playing with a non attacking right back (or fullback in general). However, we must accept that he wont recoup his fee, so we should stop demanding anything around 20 mil. He hasn't progressed the last 2 years so he has lost his value. There is also a pandemic... otherwise we risk to keep him for another 2 years paying his wages, waiting stoically for a buyer. I do believe that the most sensible thing to do is to loan him.

It's weird that he played well when he was given a chance by ole, even though he was played out of position and then just got dropped whilst other players like young and lingard were afforded far more opportunities in the starting 11 despite the bad performances they were putting in.

I dont understand why he has been totally frozen out and not given any chance to prove his worth?

His problem was that he didn’t really play well. Rather, he showed himself time and again to be a defensive liability and hard of learning.

We had other options in his position. You will notice for the others you mentioned as soon as other options were available they hardly get a look in

hes better than Fosu Mensah thats for sure. Just another young player that United have ruined. Feels pretty standard really.

First of all, there is nothing to suggest that he is a good young player. He is a bigger defensive liability than Lindelof. He just played 8 games for Porto's first team and I don't know how Jose's convenience club to sign him. He played against Villa in a friendly game and was awful in that also.

Regarding Mensah, seems like ole in working on a plan, using him and AWB as a false CDM when we have a ball as shown in the last game, He was not overlapping instead of joining MF to allow Pogba to go ahead.

I'm quite surprised at the lack of chances afforded to him. I mean he could be pretty poor but its not like there's a gold standard ahead of him. Don't think he could've done any worse than Fosu. Its pretty similar to how Mourinho treats his chosen players. On the pitch, you have multiple players playing at a similar performance level but that one guy is always picked out and subbed or thrown into oblivion.

Being objective here but is he really any worse than Williams? Lot better going forward from what I’ve seen and has a pretty decent cross as well. I like Williams aggression but can’t say he impresses in any particular trait.

He would make a better wingback. If we play 3-5-2 then he's definitely the best option we have. Telles on the left and Dallot in the right might actually do something attacking wise.

Isn't this the same guy we played against PSG in a back 4, who did a good enough job then?
I'm finding it hard to agree with others who call him out on temperament and ability when we have barely seen him since.
It's also a little difficult for a player to put in good performances when those performances come once every three or four months.

Fosu-Mensah was sub-par against Palace, offensively and defensively.
It eludes me why Dalot doesn't deserve a chance to prove himself.

I am guessing his attitude during training would have been the issue as he hasn't been on the pitch at all.

Williams is quicker and has better technique than Dalot. Dalot has been terrible for us every time he has featured, he's slow, positionally poor and can barely pass or cross the ball. Another signing that leaves you wondering if our scouting department is made up of work experience kids who judge players based on FIFA career mode.

I can already see it, shifting some deadwood and a patch of injuries and Dalot is our new RW

He’s never really been given a chance for an extended time.

I find it odd that Timbo is starting ahead of him.

It’s not really odd or surprising. TFM has shown an ability to actually be capable of defending at times. Dalot has shown to be defensively inept.

I don’t know why we don’t just loan him out as he’s clearly not good enough to get a game here and at least a good loan would retain his value.

I don't know why this guy can't get a chance. I will say this; i would rather have him on right flank than AWB. He is very underestimated

He's clearly not in our plans.

I'd rather we loaned him out or sold him. What's the point in keeping him around. There's a good player in Dalot, but it's not happening at United and he needs a run of games.

He’ll leave and we won’t regret it. He can’t defend and doing step overs doesn’t make you good at attacking.

People calling for him to play proves beyond doubt the 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' rule of squad players. He's been utter shite for us.

He is apparently our 3rd RB choice and if we buy Telles he ll be behind Williams too. Should sell or loan him. He will stagnate more if we do not at least loan him. I guess since he is young and because of corona we will prefer to loan him in case he has a good loan, so we can recoup some of his transfer fee next year.

Or maybe it's that he's only 21 and deserves a chance to prove he's an option. I seem to remember he did a decent job when we played PSG and in some of the games before that. How quickly people forget. Him being poor when he only plays once every few months is expected, given the lack of match fitness. If he's fit, I don't see why he can't get in the side for the league cup over TFM, for example.

I still don’t understand how he hasn’t been loaned. He’s possibly the most defensively inept fullback I’ve ever seen so obviously isn’t going to get picked. But he still was hugely rated at youth level. Bloody loan him and see if he improves or at least let him get out and create some market value. We’re just flushing it all down the drain at the moment.
