Sharp defending and doesn't slow us down.

If he'll work on passing further he can be universal to our midfield.

He's better than Van de Beek imo. Not sure why he doesn't get to play.

Pogba-McT-Bruno just doesn't work. Fred deserves to play ahead of Pogba and McT based on performance and skill set.

He should play more, has been consistently one of our better players since last season.

He passes with purpose and moves the ball forward quickly. It was only Luton but he should be pushing for a start next match.

He is the most orthodox midfielder we have. Plays like a proper midfielder does. He was good.

He's better than McTominay definitely and should be ahead of him in the pecking order and should also be in the first team. Same can be said for Matic too.

Imo, if we don't get Sancho or any other first team quality RW, then we should play a diamond in midfield with Matic, Fred, Pogba and Bruno. That'd be our best team:

-------------Rashford----------Martial-----------

-----------------------Fernandes--------------------

--------------Pogba-------------Fred---------------

--------------------------Matic------------------------

Shaw--------Maguire--------Bailly------AWB

---------------------------DDG--------------------------

Defensive full-backs may be a problem for us though.

Fred was everywhere tonight.
When we didn't have the ball, it was like there was two of him on the pitch.
Having a player like this on the team cant be underestimated. It would have made a massive difference against palace.

If he gets a run of games then he can be very good.

Anytime he seems to be dropped his confidence goes to shit

Its controversial on here but the midfield was more balanced before Pogba came back from injury.

Thought he was a bit off tonight. Ball seemed to bounce off him a lot. Not sure what everyone else seen.

Good energy as usual.

Thought he was good tonight and made loads of tackles. Favourite being I think around 60 mins when he slid very early and I was thinking why have you done that. Looked like Nick Diaz just relaxing but somehow came out with the ball and was off.

Have we played any games with Fred, Matic and Bruno in a midfield three? I’d like to see it. Because otherwise we’re going to have to keep watching mediocre players like McCarthy and McArthur giving our central midfielders a lesson in defensive positioning and effort.

Good game, but it was Luton. He cant play next to Matic against good opposition, it's too disorganised.

Fred's the ideal partner for Pogba, especially in the double pivot that Ole seems to be in love with

Should start against Brighton, he does the same job as McTominay but is quicker, more mobile and better on the ball.

never knew his name was Frederico Fred.
So he's Fred Fred.
or Fred x 2
or Fred squared.

I thought he looked technically quite good. Looked as though he didn't have any chemistry with Matic or VdB.

Agree on this. He needs to start over McT imo, we want to play quicker and move the ball quicker, Fred is just more suitable in midfield for that type of style. The Sevilla game was perfect example of how we move things quickly with Fred, Pogba & Bruno.

I don't mind Fred. In my opinion he performed consistently deputising for Pogba when injured and his hustle and tempo makes him better suited for the current team.

I'm actually annoyed he played last night as it surely means that he won't be in contention this weekend and instead we'll have both McTominay and Pogba + one.

Most of our games before lockdown had these 3. Pogba and McTominay were injured.

A midfield of Pogba and Matic isn't overburdened with energy and workrate alright. Pogba needs more from a midfield partner than any of our options can provide. Whichever you pick we're going to be lacking something whether its aerial presence, defensive positioning or energy.

I’d play him instead of Pogba with VDB and Bruno, At least he’s able to receive the ball from the centre backs without giving the ball away

I'd like to see that more too. Especially as long as Pogba can't or won't run his lungs out.

Top player. Brings movement to our MF. Think he would be best in any sort of MF 4.

----- Fred ------- Matic -----
Pogba/VDB --------- Bruno ----
---- Martial ------ Rashford------

Or

----------- Matic -----------
Pogba ----------------- Fred
-------- Bruno/VDB ------
Mason -------------- Martial/Rashford

He runs his balls off, lots of fight, gets into duels but very often with very little effect imo. Squad option at best.

It's got to be Matic or Fred at DM. Nobody else works there.

Then it's 2 from Pogba, Bruno n VDB in the other 2 spots. This is why I love the VDB transfer because Pogba needs to up his game massively or he will be benched.
