Let’s be honest I can’t recall him ever playing two games in a week so no surprise not playing today. Our defensive record was very good last year we need to remember that. We missed matic last week I think

He certainly is very entertaining. Keeps you on the edge of your seat as you never know what he is going to do next. I do not think he even knows what he is doing.

Our most talented CB, sadly he's a disaster/injury waiting to happen. Ole knows it so Lindelof will keep the spot

Would genuinely be like a new signing if he could keep fit for the season. We could do with Bailly +1 at the back.

Commanding figure we are looking for. He is fitness away from becoming our best CB.

Ok it was Brighton B team but he played well. Bailly and Lindelof actually looking quite good together.

Dominant performance by him. The type of performance none of our other CBs are capable of.

Hope he remains fit this season, he could save ourselves from spending 50m+ next summer.

Very good performance, should be first choice alongside Maguire.

He could be such a good player if not for the injuries. Him and Maguire would be a decent pairing.

He's just so much better than Lindelof. Hope Ole makes him a starter soon enough. Lindelof just isn't it.

Bossed it tonight. Totally dominant and deserves to play alongside Maguire on Sunday.

Best CB at the club
Maguire is clearly a better player and can stay fit. I’m not a fan of Bailly, but pleased if he can keep fit and string some matches together. he’s a better partner than Lindelof if he can cut out the rashness and add consistency to his game. Good performance.

Hopes he can keep his fitness level this season. There's still potential of great defender there, but needs some polishing.

He surely has to start for us now? One of those situations where a player forces himself into the starting eleven, he's looking like a rock at the back.

He was the most enjoyable part of the whole match, he was immense and effortless all at the same time, pace, bravery and confidence on the ball, Lindeolof is fecked if Bailly can stay fit.

Strong start to this season. Looks calmer and more in control of his actions which seems to be aiding his positioning which could be suspect before.

Plus he’s also looking fit and also strong and healthy and his speed in recovery runs or mopping up behind the line is a real sight for sore eyes and something we’ve really missed.

please please please stay fit: he may the the perfect solution we need to play a high line to enable us to press, which opens up many new tactical options.

baby steps , one game at a time but he should start vs Spurs.

Where's the DOF?
Sound performance, no errors - good positionally, tried to pass forward, strong in the challenges and blocks. Would love him to get a run in the team.

He’s not. Let alone clearly.

Maguire is nothing but a high transfer fee. He’s not faster than Bailly, he’s not stronger than Bailly, he’s not better than Bailly on the ball. He’s not commanding. He’s not aggressive. He doesn’t inspire nor does he instilled fear in the opposition. He’s better than Bailly in the air though.

I’m not even sure Maguire is better than Lindelof to be honest

Bailly was very good again tonight. IMO there's not much more he can do to show he should be starting.

Will it sway Solskjaer? God knows. Its sad but Ole has a blindspot where Bailly is concerned. Its as clear as day that he's not only better than Lindelof but also better suited to partnering Maguire than Lindelof. However, for some reason, Ole just doesn't trust him.

We need Bailly's pace against Spurs, Son may be out but Lucas and Bergwijn ain't slow. Hopefully Ole sees that or else we could get done on the counter.

I took tonight as a bit of a head to head, best performer starts alongside Maguire. I think Eric made a strong case for himself.

It’s a bit similar to how people evaluated AWB half a year ago. Bailly did the same job as every one else in the defence, but with one or two more spectacular tackles and suddenly he is superior to everybody else and the best defender at the club. (We played Brighton B-team)

Bailly’s a bit of an odd one in that he can look so assured and solid one game, then have a complete mare the next.

It’s not similar at all, and if you can’t see how much better he was than Lindelöf today I don’t know what to tell you.

He is. Put perhaps I need to caveat every post with “in my opinion”.

The vast amount of people who watch Utd would say Maguire is a better CB. I respect your option though. Bailly is faster.

You can’t really compare them. Maguire played every PL game last year and we got a good defensive result. Bailly has played a handful of games against weak teams. Hardly enough to say Bailly is a better defender than Maguire.

I don’t think he has a blind spot when it comes to Lindelof. Tuanzebe was in line to partner Maguire at the start of last season at the expense of Lindelof.

It’s understandable for the manager not to trust Bailly, and Lindelof at least stays fit. I’m sure OGS wants someone better than Lindelof.

He highlight the importance of pace at the back. Was always there to sniff and sweep in dangerous situation and didn't give Brighton much hope for breaking. Impeded and was on call in Brighton break situations which would have been disasters had it been a Maguire-Lindelof pairing due to their lack of pace which make situations that should be routine otherwise into legit threat on goal against us.

You’re a Lindelof fan so I purposely ignore your posts. I’m merely replying to this to say my opinion has been consistent on the matter and not a “suddenly” thing.

Deserves a start against Spurs

I have nightmares of him with VAR but he deserves a chance.
