I've said this as a punt for a while but I sometimes wonder if it's true.

We are around 20m short, we want around 20m from Roma for Smalling. Joked that we will use Smalling to fund the Sancho gap but I'm curious about the timing now.

Tomorrow is likely to be the day Smalling finally gets agreed, and we aren't likely to make an improved offer before then.
It sounds good in theory but actually ignores few crucial details like we aren't getting 20m for Smalling and whatever transfer fee would be agreed it certainly would be paid in installments like most fees are paid so most likely 5 m max added to the transfer kitty but Dortmund based on all the noises we are hearing would like sizable chunk of Sancho's fee upfront so I very much doubt we are relying on Smalling's transfer to bridge the short fall.

Its criminal that we haven't got rid of Rojo too. His wages need to be off our books. I'm thinking that would save at least 10m per year.

We could have made a little bit more money off of Dalot too if OGS really doesn't rate him.

I'd like to see us put in a proper bid and test dortmunds resolve. I'd expect Sancho to help push through the move.

Ours will also be installments though. I think dortmund will accept 120m in installments.

That photographer thing is good muppet stuff
Something the thread has been missing amongst all the doom and gloom

There's been an awful lot of different signs all coincidentally happening at the same time the last few days...

Yeah and it's called confirmation bias.

I think that's the main hold up it seems Dortmund want sizable upfront payment and guaranteed €120 m and United doesn't want to go that high with out add ons.

If we pay them the number close to 120m theyl accept. That's been the latest I believe.

The upfront thing was a few weeks ago now, but they will settle for installments I reckon. German reporters have pointed to the sum being 30m eur short, not necessarily the structure.

If we don’t hear anything by this time tomorrow, I’ll start to get a bit worried.

If we don’t hear anything else by Tuesday morning, I’m think about contemplating that it won’t happen this summer.

But it’s not fecking tomorrow and it’s not fecking Tuesday. So bring it on. He’s coming.

I honestly believe it's going to happen but with a very finite amount of cash left we're trying to get both him and Telles. Any cash coming in for Smalling / Fosu-Mensah / Dalot is relevant too and we're just desperately trying to squeeze everything we can out of every deal to get both in but if we can't it'll just be Sancho.
