Lot of hate for the board but surely the lack of DOF and forward planning is our undoing again? A DOF would identify multiple players for each position and have a plan for development of said players.
It was the board’s job to identify the need for a DOF years ago and to hire one. The DOF wasn’t going to hire himself/herself.

I can't believe so many people on here seem happy to settle for loans. Even if a loan works out, they are just a sticking plaster for a gole in your squad.

A loan is just a short term. If the main target is still Sancho then it's still reasonable to just get a loan move for the alternative and come back to Sancho again next year. Better get the right players than just forcing ourselves spending penny on the wrong alternative.

Telles, Badiashile and Ocampos....

I might take that right now. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush....

First choices and available right now would be Telles, Badiashile and Sancho.

we might be able to push the Telles deal over the line, but even that isn't something I'm overly optimistic about.

after Solskjaers comments today, I think we're pretty much done in terms of incomings. Which is utterly ridiculous of course, but here we are.

Doesn't look too promising does it?

We really need another attacker - the squad depth just isn't there. I guess we could probably make it to January and revisit, but I don't imagine it will be any easier to bring players in then.

I think if we go past this deadline we will still have 2 weeks of the same nonsense with the domestic deadline hitting up Bournemouth for brooks & king or Watford for Sarr. But with the amount of hatred for James, wait til they cop a load of Sarr for double the price

Marc Roca heading to Bayern for 15m arguably irks me more at this stage than Sancho. We talked about exploiting the market, when really, the Glazers just exploited the situation.

Woodward isn't even good enough to get rid of players, let alone buy replacements. Disgraceful and not a hope of top four

come january, woodward will offer Dortmund a little extra: £7.50 and two years free MUTV instead of one

Apparently we decided to play hard ball. A reporter said that we re still asking the same fee for Rojo even if he spent a year crocked and he s nearing end of contract.
Don't know if it s true.
We re also asked 30m euros for Dalot.
On the other hand, I agree with club re Smalling. I think 20m euro is a fair price. Roma also want to deduct the loan fee paid last year (3m euro) from the actual transfer fee. They're relying there hopes on Smalling no wanting only Roma

Under a tree.
I am going to put this entire transfer forum on ignore until Monday, if anything happens, it will be then. The majority of threads that get updated are from pointless posts (like this one)

Quibbling over £3m is pathetic and typical of Woodward. The £17m would fund the Sancho deal (presumably, we've offered more than £12.50p)

All this time, and apparently we might be signing a French CB... who’s 16. Willy Kambwala!

You and me both mate. Just saw it now and shook my head. Only lost Thiago the other day and boom! We've been monitoring situations and considering bids all window long!

Just bring in Perisic on loan if we're that skint. Would be as good a loan signing as we can ask for.

What is he like? Looks like a physical Spanish DM, along the mould of Javi Martinez or Rodri?

You could say Rodri + Martinez in one. In fact, more like Busquets. He's got a great left for picking a pass, and he's also a great shield for the back line.

Would have been an ideal Matic replacement, and could have learned from him but we're beyond the point of inept.

I was hugely optimistic after the end of last season and going into this season. I must say that I am very confused about what the club have been doing since the window opened and I'm confused the strategy and direction we're taking. I'm seeing lots of talk about bad planning or lack of a plan, and I can't do anything but agree with it.

There's no worse feeling than pessimism after a feeling of high optimism. Can't help but feel this is a huge opportunity that we've seen pass us by. I know a lot can change in a few days, but we've had so long to sort this out. Why is there a huge last minute feeling about this?

We are badly lacking a layer in the boardroom or managing department who can oversee transfers and the direction of the club. Seems like a huge gap between Ole and Ed with nothing to bridge the two. It's all very messy and amateurish for a club of this level.

‘Because we already have like 7-8 centre backs. Need to sell first.
Yeah and also get the impression Ole wants to give Axel/Eric chance to prove their fitness, not saying I agree with that but at the end of day it's his decision.

He's giving them chances not because he wants to but because he has no choice. Even Simon Stone who got his information from the club directly mentioned that they are also looking for centre back when the league ended last season.

Beginning of the window:

We can do things other clubs can only dream of.
Linked with
Sancho
Grealish
Upamencano
Bellingham

Looking likely deadwood leave.

I had huge optimism

End of window
Cavani on a free
Deadwood still here
Dortmund laughing at us

Woodward and co rotten to the core.

Shambles.

Going to be a tough season

It's interesting as COVID had the opposite effect than we thought. We thought we could exploit the fact that everyone was broke and we were loaded. Oh know, we decided that because fans weren't coming into the ground, the loss of the 150m meant we had much more to lose than others. Conversely, the richer you are, the harder you fall. To use an analogy, if there's a famine, fat people are gonna get hungry first....

The lack of planning and preparedness from the biggest club in England has been criminal.

We've had since March, since we went into lockdown to come up with a strategy to support Ole and improve on last season - Over 6 months to prepare and the best we can do is DvB and an over-the-hill injury prone Cavani. We're still scrabbling around for transfers with less than 48 hours to go. You look at teams like Chelsea, Liverpool, even Everton and Wolves (our rivals this season) who got their transfer activity done in an efficient and timely manner. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so incompetent.

Strap yourselves in for a long season ahead boys, it's going to be messy.

Can't see this happening in a million years but would anyone take Dembele if we could get a CB too

Another opportunity missed to capitalize after finishing 3rd. This kind of transfer window is the reason why we're stuck in this loop since Sir Alex left the club. Our rivals strengthened and we added VDB to increase midfield depth and probably Cavani. We will still mostly play last season's starting 11 and this is not good enough to compete for titles.

Window after window we keep failing to land our number 1 targets. Unless we start landing these players, we won't compete for anything. Best case scenario will be finishing in the top 4, worst case going back to 6th or 7th like the previous seasons.

Ffs our last proper right winger was Valencia.

How fecking incompetent is the board that they can't see what this team needs and get somebody in there.
