Should we consider selling Pogba?

The modern Veron, just not suited to the faster paced EPL.

Will do alright in slower continental leagues, though.

Real or PSG would take a punt on him I guess for 50 million, but Woody will want 100 million and we will be stuck with him.

I think that Pogba would do well in a team going for the league. He is a luxury player.
Pogba would be great in a team that is cruising to the league title - eg. PSG, Real Madrid, Liverpool.
His best season for us was his first under Jose and it's been downhill from there.
We need players who are willing to graft and fight when the going gets tough and that's who we should focus on.

Under a tree.
I would even ask Barca for a straight swap for injury prone Dembele at this stage than continue to see him in a United shirt.

Consider? at this point its a certainty. He is a waste of space.

I've said it many times in this thread. He's been here for four seasons and people are still making excuses about playing him in the right position, getting players in the team that suit him or a better manager, a different formation, its all nonsense. I backed him to a fault for the first 3 years but after a while you can't ignore all the evidence. Pogba is a luxury player and is one of the last players you want to rely on to lead your team. He's immature, lazy and has very little instinct in reading a football game.

We absolutely need to sell him and finally get some real balance in the squad. The worst thing we can do is offer him a contract of near £400k a week and find ourselves wondering how to get the best out of him in another 3 years.

Most overrated player to ever put on our shirt.
The number of arguments that have been made for this guy is amazing really.

1) Isn't suited to 4-2-3-1
2) Isn't a DM
3) Isn't a CAM
4) Play him on the left side of 4-3-3. Spoiler alert, we already tried and he was still fecking shit
5) Mourinho is bullying him
6) He's unfit
7) He's back from injury
8) He was injured 6 months ago
9) He won the world cup
10) He had coronavirus
11) A player of his skillset shouldn't be forced to track back. Judging by today's defending, I would agree
12) He needs better players around him to thrive. He can't do it all by himself
13) He's a workhorse (wtf)
14) Ole doesn't know how to use him (oh but he seemed like he did when he first came, what changed?)

A plethora of arguments I've seen made for this guy.

He's playing exactly the same as he has the previous 4 years.

People have been willing to make ridiculous excuses, throw other players, managers, etc. under the bus to defend his performances during that time so why stop now?

His attitude is atrocious getting hammered and he is smiling like a buffoon. Ole needs to drop him pronto. We looked a different team without him when we went on the unbeaten run 2nd half of last season

Never going to be the player we hoped he would be. Just going to get older and less effective. If we can get a decent price for him then let him go. He has his "transfer request " face on again anyway.

If you want to see the best of Pogba, he has to play in a midfield 5. Two players behind to do all the defensive work and all the running. Two players in front of him to do all the creative work and to retain possession. It should be easy to find the next Pirlo.

He also needs runners constantly moving ahead of him, so a front 3 is necessary to stretch the play and make the pitch wider. Also, a back 5 is the best way to help him during transitions with his poor press resistance, and to stop him from making challenges in our own box.

After that, we should petition FIFA to let United play fly goalies so that there's always a sweeper keeper ready to mop up his turnovers.

Once we can give him the platform he needs to shine, just imagine how good those Hollywood balls will look on youtube.

So player in his prime who plays 5-10 good games a season is considered world class? He is world class potential. I just love all excuses Pogba gets:
First year - Oh, he needs time to settle in PL. Oh, there is nobody he can play with.
Second year - It's all Mourinho's fault, just give Pogba a chance
Third year - A few good games, a few bad games, injury. Needs time to recover
Fourth year - Covid, needs time to recover. Repeat all above.

He is 27 year old!!! He should be flying and destroying everything in his path. He behaves like a joker - what a disgrace of a player.

Mourinho was right all along calling him out... for lack of leadership and comittment..
The reality is Mourinho should have been allowed to sell him and that should have been beyond argument after that Spurs game where he was seen on TV refusing to play in the position Mourinho was telling him to.

And then he should also have been sold after being actively disruptive to the team during Mourinho's last season. If you're more concerned with getting your manager sacked than doing the best for the team then you've no business being here regardless of who the manager is.

It was quite obvious and it has also been very obvious for a very long time to anyone who isn't a United fan, but for some reason there's a significant element of our fanbase willing to back Pogba to the detriment of the team, due to this weird insistence that none of Pogba's failings have anything to do with Paul Pogba.

Everyone is having a pop at the club about everything and rightly so, but our fanbase is fecking weird and causes problems in itself. Our fans have pretty much hounded better and more committed players than Pogba out of the club, yet give it a few days and Pogba's performances will be back to being everyone except Pogba's fault.

What system does suit him?
He's a ball playing midfield not a deep lying one. But I don't want to defend him after this performance. The whole freaking squad (including Ole) can get binned for all I care today.

I think it's time for me to suspend watching football. This is not good for my mental health.

Enough is enough. I have tried to warm him several times but I just can't anymore.

Hopefully last season for us.

How many people are still defending him after that. Laughing when he gave away a clear penalty, looked like he was trying to get himself sent off as well. He's been poor since the start of the season.

Feet up at home.
I said a week ago get enough from Madrid to allow the Sancho deal to be done and make it happen.

He will never be what we need or even what we hoped for.

Agree with this he could be world class but how many times can he be allowed to show his inconsistencies, a player of his ability should be getting the best out of the rest of the squad. He has more ability than players like Keane and Carrick, but they brought out the best in those around.
I have seen more consistent performances from Anderson over a season than Pogba. That should be embarrassing for him enough excuses.

Time to cut losses and send him wherever he wants to go. Real Madrid? Ha. With the way he's been 'performing' he'll love it when their fans rip him a new one...

Real don't have the money. They couldn't even afford Van De Beek.

I would definitely sell when possible.

Though his performances this season thus far are killing his value.

It's hard to type this because I've been hoping to see the Pogba with all his attributes combine to becoming a consistent performer for us. But, it's like, we'll get one or two performances of class and then he rides the waves of that, while everyone makes excuses when he's half-assing.

Bruno is the player we had hoped Pogba would be, and they cant play together.

I haven't been a massive fan of Pogba for a while to be honest. He bugged off to Juventus as a kid, and since he returned for huge money, he has never really seemed that invested in the club or in playing well. Along with the likes of Lingard, we need to get rid of these players who are more concerned with their social media following than playing football.

My biggest worry is that Ed will give Pogba a new and fat contract when his current deal runs out in 2022.

We will have another player on our book that will be hard to shift.

This 100%. There is an instagram culture at the club where some players value their social media more than what they do on the pitch.

Didnt Pogba trademark his dance move or was that just a twitter joke or something.

This just would not happen under Ferguson. Players were disciplined. Then if you were acting out he got rid of you quickly.

For Ole's sake he just has to see that this guy is a spoofer. If Ole does not get rid of Pogba, Pogba will get rid of Ole.

Look i would love for Pogba to turn it around, but it has been three or four years of waiting for him to turn up, whilst he takes to instagram. He is more interested in the Pogba brand than playing good football.

In fairness to Pogba that is the culture at the club. Lingarrd is another one.

I’ve never seen a more lethargic player in all my life.

He would need to be scoring 20 goals and getting 20 assists to make up for his constant mistakes leading to goals and chances. He cost us at least two today and that’s if you’re generous

I don't think that keeping or selling Pogba makes a difference to our overall situation.

We won't be winning the league this season. We probably, most likely, will not win the champions league aswell.

And it seems that the FA Cup and the League cup are never a priority for the club.

So... if I have to choose, we should keep him, because in certain games he can produce magical moments, despite the lack of consistency.
