Genuinely shit is a bit strong; they nearly won the league the season before.
A team that loses 6-1 to Stoke is shit! We did nearly win the title the season before but make no mistake, we were not even a shadow of that side in 2015. Suarez had gone, Sturridge was on the physio table more than he was on the pitch and our defence was just as bad as the 2014 season without the goals from our strikers to cover for them

Yeah I was being a bit unfair, they were quite bad still - genuinely a 6th-8th team. Chelsea 2016 were far better than Liverpool 2015 though; Liverpool had lost Suarez, Sturridge had fallen to injuries and they were carrying an aging Gerrard while Chelsea still had Hazard

 And a good day that was for me but that was an anomaly (yes I know you lost 5-0 to Newcastle around the same time but you were winning leagues left, right and centre). We lost 6-1 to Stoke and that was the culmination of a season of poor performances. The only surprise about that year was that Rodgers wasn't sacked in the summer. We were going backwards at a rate of knots and the football wasn't even entertaining.

I look at the competition and their football (which is very meh a lot of the time), and I’m thinking no one wants it as much as they do. That seems to be the difference between them and City anyway. The rest don’t have the quality in the players or the manager.

I think Klopp has to take much of the credit for taking a fairly ordinarily bunch of players and combining simple but effective tactics with motivational skills and inhuman fitness levels to achieve what he has.
His players are in no way 'ordinary'. He's a great manager but some of his players are extraordinary. I'll give him credit for spotting talent and getting them cheap before they level up though (Mane, Robertson, Wijnaldum) and he's continuing with that by signing Jota. He's a very canny manager and levels above the field at the moment.

People used to say this about Ferguson - "No competition" etc - but the fact is that he was just better. He's just smarter and as you've identified much more driven and his players are too. You won't be hearing about Van Dijk clobbering coppers or Salah shagging goats in a mosque anytime soon. Unfortunately for United fans we either get Pochettino and a new board or watch them sweep everyone aside till about 2024.

How many league games is Mane on unbeaten at Anfield? He must be close to Drogba's 80 game record at The Bridge unfortunately.

However he's unlikely to get a sniff at Essien's record of 100 (at a certain stadium) in all comps, Morata finally done some good for us

It’s been an incredible turnaround at Liverpool under Klopp. Wasn’t too long ago we were looking to sign Suarez off them and Sanchez chose Arsenal over Liverpool. Just goes to show what a huge difference a world class manager can make when the board and management are able to work in harmony.

Honestly they're clear favourites for both Premier League and Champions League.

As long as Klopp is the manager I don't see Liverpool losing stride in competing for the top spot. The league is full of new upcoming managers with the exception of Jose / Pep. I think the only issue for the club would have been if the FSG decided to dry up funds and the trajectory they were on last season it seemed a possibility, but given the recent window they will continue to move forward.

i was convinced that last season was their peak. They were uncontested in the League & had insane luck with injuries. I also believed it would be difficult to keep their level of intensity as the monkey was off their backs in regards to winning the PL.

I don't think they'll rack up the wins & points they did last season but they won't need to.

They may well have peaked but the problems is Klopp will keep the standards still high enough that nobody will realistically challenge.

This, its quite likely they could finish high 80's for points and still win the league by 8 or 9.

We've certainly seem their peak performance and it's terrifying. They've plateaued at a very high still. Can't help but feel like Klopp has done the best coaching in EPL history and not enough is made of that.

If Klopp keeps winning stuff with liverpool (which is very possible now) Im not so sure he will walk away in 2024.
That's the worry.

Ed has done so much wrong but his worst crime was scaring off Klopp.

Theyve looked dodgy at the back for a while now. This high line needs to go. They kept getting away with it and getting away with it but it looks as if thats catching up on them.

Holy shit. Only just seen their score as I've tried to block out anything football related since about the 15th minute of our match today.

Yep definitely. Gomez and Van Dijk have nothing struggled with it recently.

It’s a difficult one, cause on the one hand it got us 99 points, but on the other hand it requires an immense amount of concentration and mental fortitude as well as a sweeper keeper. Usually we’re fine, but when it unravels it can go spectacularly wrong. The biggest problem was the lack of pressure from the midfielders, an area we missed Henderson a lot in today.

One thing however is certain we need a better back up goalkeeper ASAP, this could do irreparable damage to our season and team spirit if he carries on in net. Might be time to throw that 18 year old Brazilian goalie we signed in, if we can’t get anyone else.

This is way worse than the Bayern 8-2 Barcelona. This the equivalent of Sunderland thrashing Man Utd 7-1 in late 1999. Which of course never happened. But puts things in perspective.

Don't think they've been great since things started going wrong before lockdown. They were never gonna be able to maintain the level they were at, to be fair.

Mane and Alisson out certainly makes things a lot worse. Do we know when Mane should be safe to play? I know it's a good while for the keeper.
