People are doing the same thing with Sarr as they did with Maguire and AWB - trying to convince themselves, against all known logic, that signing a slow, plodding centre back and a full-back terrified of the ball was the right decision.

Sarr is a physically upgraded Dan James. He'll be beyond useless against a low block, he can't consistently beat a man 1v1 (one of the lowest take-on win % in the league last season), has absolutely nothing special technically...it's just a terrible signing for us.

His one major attribute, his speed, will be totally nullified in 90% of our games. Against a low block he'll just turn into yet another: receive ball > oops no space to run into > pass sideways or backwards.

What's worse is that I'm absolutely sure that the people trying to convince themselves that this is a good signing, if they've watched Sarr in any way, already know all of this.

Just sign nobody, rather that than filling the squad with shite again.

It's either Sarr or Dembele

Dembele is so much better it's not even funny.

I don't know why were wasting valuable funds on players like Sarr. We shouldn't be this desperate.

According to talksport Watford want 25m penalty clause if you choose not to sign him end of the season.

He's a good player but didn't assist or score a huge amount last year. Probably where Adama Traore was two years ago.

Would've thought if you were spending that much but can't get a Sancho or Dembele you'd go all in for Saint Maxinm.
Or Adama Traore.

Plenty of options for RW - Issue is we will be priced out cos we've left it so late - shock!

He’s a mid-table Premier League winger, a couple of strengths but really obvious limitations. It’s not like he’s torn it up at Watford, is it?

It just gets more embarrassing going for deals like this on the last day.

Woodward really showing a measured and proactive approach this window. Great to see he’s learnt from his scattergun, reactionary approach that left our squad in a poorer place SEVEN years ago.

Wolves would want about 80m for Adama.

Think of them all Allan Saint Maximn would be the best mid priced option but haven't seen him linked to anyone so guess Newcastle would just refuse to aswell.

5 goals and 4 assists in 28 PL appearances. So nothing amazing.

Though he might have been a sub for a good few of those for all I know. And tbf he could still kick on. Sadio Mane is the lazy comparison given they're the same nationality and play in similar positions and he was either still at Salzburg or had just joined Southampton at that age. So who knows.

I’d rather take Dembele knowing he‘d miss 20 games than Sarr.

Proper shit signing. We’ll end up with him and James on the books next summer, 2 players who aren’t good enough and we’ll be back to square one looking for a RW.

Its proper headless chicken time at United, randomly grabbing at anything that's available regardless of cost.
This is what makes our months of "negotiations and discussions" of valuations and trying to drive down asking prices an utter nonsense.
So many people saying its the right thing to do, tough negotiations, trying to get the best price, and standing firm.

The result is, we won't offer £100M for Sancho, and we'd haggle over a few Million for Telles, but we'd readily spunk away best part of £100 Million on Cavani, Sarr & Traore despite already having a bloated squad of also rans......
For £100M we could have possibly signed Partey and Upemecano, they would give the team some much needed defensive bite.

How many RWs are we supposed to be after? Let's buy them all and then surprise everyone by attacking down the left. And Watford want a deal now on Sarr that has us paying them if we don't keep him after a loan? He must be great!

Dembele has higher potential than any thing this lot will ever have.
I like Sarr and think he's the best fit for us than the young players we've been linked with, and the crock with a poor attitude in Dembele too.

Sancho looks unlikely but never know.

Please let this be a smokescreen to a Dembélé loan to get Barcelona to agree to more favourable terms for us.

Or just let it be a Plan B if some weird extreme circumstance happens and Dembele isnt done in time.

Sarr is not good enough to break down deep defences playing the low block like the majority of teams we come up against. He is not what we need.

Sarr will be even more underwhelming signing than Daniel James was. Hell I was excited with James even more.

This is the profile of player we should be targeting:

Young talents who are creative and productive 1v1. Sarr is neither.

ASM would be perfect, and might have been obtainable. No way Mike Ashley, of all people, turns down a decent offer in the middle of a financial downturn. Ousmane Dembele would also feature highly on this list - right between Saint-Maximin and Mbappe as a high volume, high creative player - but didn't complete the minimum number of games to be eligible.

We need a 'chaos creator' - as Wenger famously dubbed it - against low block teams to create space and force mistakes.

Sarr's the kind that the opposition need to double up on. James has never had that threat.

Gerard Deulofeu is a far better footballer, can play both flanks and as an inside or outside forward plus could be got on loan. We are asking the wrong questions to Watford

Buying Sart for whatever fee is much worse than not buying anyone - club is full of mediocrity already

But in typical Utd style he’s stronger on the left.

I trust you opinion, hopefully the club fails to sign him.

Why not offer James the other way on loan? Works for both sides and James clearly not up to the task here.
