To have more control over his career by the time his contract ends. He's been poorly managed by Barcelona, and I wouldn't want to extend with that circus of a club either to be honest.
poorly managed by barcelona?!?

It's a dodged bullet if we were considering the permanent deal. Absolutely stank of a panic buy
Reportedly without a medical. I hope that was a flat out lie whoever reported it. Can you imagine? No medical for someone who ruptured their hamstring tendon 8 months ago.

Of course a deal being ran by the two worst run clubs in top flight football collapses

When did Ornstein start reporting that much about us by the way ? Wasn't he Arsenal reporter first and foremost ?

To all those who didn’t want a loan deal, are you now happy that we most likely won’t have a quality right winger for the season? I just don’t see how anyone was against a loan.

That's it folks. Move on Sarr thread, if any of you can actually get excited about it.

A good manager can turn him into a very good player in which case I’d take him. Unfortunately we don’t have one of those. He’d just be another bang average overpriced and overpaid player.
Then why didn't any good manager want him all these years? Genuine question. Not only good managers, but top clubs. 27 years old, contract at Palace until June 2023.

Under a tree.
I don't think this one is dead yet, seems like there is some brinkmanship from Dembele's part, hoping United sign him permanently and offer him a long contract but will eventually sign that extension with Barca, why wouldn't he, having another year being paid a guaranteed 11m per year with his injury issues..And then the loan can go ahead.

I'm better than Messi (even though I'm not)

Sir Alex wanted him. Maybe top clubs prefer ready made world class players and don’t want to invest the time for him to go up a level. We’re not in the market at that level it seems so we have to look at players a few levels below.

Was never an option, dembele didn’t want a loan move, no one knows what Barca wanted. A loan deal wasn’t really a viable deal, and £55m was the price to buy

Was obviously unlikely, but many people thought it would have been a terrible thing to do. I was questioning the hypothetical.

Why didn't you just extend Ousmane for a year we needed a RW on loan so badly, instead we are left to rely on Mason and a couple of rookies.

Think it's safe to say if he wanted the move enough he would have done that but clearly wasn't that fussed about leaving so left contract the same.

Hypothetically a loan deal where Barca pay half his wages, if he gets injured we don't pay anything and we have an option to buy at £40m was a great deal.

Doubt it because if he wanted to join us badly enough he would have pushed for it more last night.
We only wanted a loan. So it’s not his fault he’s not singing an extension as his price drops considerably next summer and effectively in January.

Do you see us trying again in January as seems he isn't going to get much playing time at Barca

Depends on our board doesn’t it

It totally depends on who is our manager and our position on Sancho.

Ole I believe has officially given up on Sancho so I reckon he’d take him as a permanent signing. A new manager might not want him. But if Sancho gives us the impression he’d come in the summer we might be forced to wait and have another shite show of trying to negotiate.

I really don’t see any club buying him at Dortmund’s price.

Shame he isn't a free agent then could sign him anytime but just not be able to use him in the champions league group phase, I just really cannot believe Sancho will want to go through negotiations with our clowns again next summer so think getting Dembele on a permanent deal is the best we can hope for.

The same. Just get him and see what happens. People forget how talent he is (probably the best young dribbler on the planet) and we could benefit massively, he is more of a United player than he ever will be a Barca player.

Why on earth is he happy to just be isolated by Koeman like Bale was at Madrid for the last couple of years, did he not see the benefit of just extending his contract then being allowed to join us for a season with an option to buy
