There really isn't much in it.

Has anybody mentioned its Franks first season in the Premier League?

Their midfield and defense are soft as hell and you can't put that on Lampard when he's had nothing to do in terms of transfers for this season.

It only doesn't exactly bode well when you realize he's buying upgrades in attack at a serious price point without addressing the more pressing issues like left back, center back and defensive midfield.

Mate, why are you so obsessed with points? Who cares if it's 66 or 22? It's the league table that matters. We finished above you this year so deal with it.

Leicester won their title with 81 points. Do you think anyone cares that "Oh you only had 81 points so technically it's not that impressive blah blah blah"

And realistically nobody here expected us to finish above City and Pool this year. And nobody expected us in the middle of December to finish above you lot.
I am not obsessed with points thats like the only time i made a comment on points but dont you think points are a good indication of a team if it did better/worse than the year before?
You know if you win things nobody cares how you did it so why should i belittle Leicester? Those who are not winning have to look for things like points to see how to get better.
It just seems to me that some United fans think very highly to have finished above Chelsea on goal difference.
I know i probably sound bitter to you again so deal with it. As for me i already made an appoitment at my local health care center.

Lampard had one hand tied behind his back?

Your username is almost perfect.
How usual is it for a manager to walk into a job and on evaluating the squad he has inherited be able to do nothing about it and any flaws/holes he identifies?

(your second sentence suggests a level of conversation coming back that I would probably have been better off simply ignoring your post but please surprise me)

People have short memory. The recent good run of form has made people forget how miserable we were in the first half of the season. Chelsea was the complete opposite, you had a great start but people now only remember the dipped form towards the end of the season. Many fans have been very lenient and tolerant towards Ole (understandable though), but they're not applying the same standard to other managers and they can't wait to mock them to illustrate the greatness of Ole.

To me Lampard certainly has some tactical flaws (e.g. back 3/4 problem, defensive setup, use of Kante etc.) but overall he has done a good job this year. He manages the departure of Hazard and the transfer ban pretty well and he uses the academy products extensively. I simply can't imagine how fans would react if Ole does the same. But next year the expectation will be higher with the money you spend on Werner and Ziyech and it's time to judge him properly.
I'm far from sold on either. I question Lampard's decision making at times, at stages relying and results improving thanks to players he had previously discarded for lengthy periods (Alonso, Giroud). as well as his what can only be described as faddy period of picking players like Tomori, Barkley for runs and then nothing. He has constantly shown the gumption to make decisions though which is something i think as the season progressed Solskjaer progressively shied away (winning = zero rotation despite fixture congestion) from which is worse in my eyes.

Do you seriously think those areas have not been identified and/or will not be targeted? Ziyech was bagged months before the window opened, actually just after the last one closed and Werner was and hopefully Havertz will be done and dusted soon as because they are opportunities we probably would not have had open to us in normal circumstances so that is not a time to hang around waiting for other clubs to go "actually let's move this and then be able to do that".

The Bayern Barcelona result shows us just how much of a managerial powerhouse Super Frank is to keep it at 7-1 over two legs

Chelsea weren't very good but you're blind if you couldn't see this Bayern side are very special. Chelsea are building towards something, Barca are crumbling.

I agree. Lampard showed his goat tactical nous only losing the 2nd leg 4-1 with a heavily depleted team.

Redknapp's very unpopular but I really like him, got some great football going at Spurs, and even Pompey and Southampton. Would have taken him in 2013 over Moyes. If he hadn't been flirting with England I think he would have kept going upwards with Spurs into 2012/13 and beyond.

Redknapp was never good enough to be a Utd manager. However, In retrospect, I don’t think there’s a manager on the planet who I’d not rather than Moyes. Not a high barometer.

No, his press conferences would have been gold and he'd have pulled an expensive rabbit out of the hat in the transfer market, he'd have bought 2013 Bale for sure haha
He would have definitely win us some trophies, even if they were made up by him. He would have claimed we were the bestest team in the world.

He won the American presidential election while the entre media was against him; mind you, the democrats didn't exactly make it hard with what they put up against him  even this year, they couldn't have done better than Biden? I mean, he's going to win, but it boggles my mind when I look at who's in charge in politics :houllier: not that Ireland has a better recent history

Edit: this went fairly off topic... That Lampard, eh? Will he survive the season?

Recent, are you taking the Micheal ? As we keep putting either of two parties that have been screwing us and robbing us since the 1920's and people still give enough votes to put those FF/FG bastards back in, I swear they could kill us and we'd still vote them in, oh wait they have done that .

Anyway as for Frankie, be gone if he doesn't get top 4, as red rom doesn't seem to give a damn who you are or what you have previously done for him, as seen with RDM and Carlo if results don't get him want him wants.

He hasn’t though has he.

There were doubters at the start of his career, and then he’s commonly acknowledged as one of the best midfielders in the country.
He did though. Beginning, middle and end of his career. One of the best in the world. He came 2nd in the 2005 Ball D'Or, ahead of Gerrard.

Who is claiming he wasn’t one of the best? There always a debate about whether he was the best English midfielder - that’s always quite feisty! But he’s in the conversation.

No one had doubted Lampard as a footballer since he started banging then in for Chelsea.

You said he was one of the best in the country and i just highlighted that his reputation was international.

I'm touchy like that :)

Yes the discussion always brings Gerrard into the equation. I will always say Frank just shades it because of his goal scoring and fitness records but in 2005 the Ballon D'Or judges agreed. I don't know if thats biased because he genuinely was a very good player. I also can't forget the slip at Anfield. Gerrard was a good player and one could argue he was more dynamic than Frank but he was also reckless on occasions. People underestimate Franks passing range. I can't do the feisty bit these days, if someone wants to insist Gerrard was better they can.

I really don’t understand what you are posting about or what your point is.

Originally the statement was that Lampard had been proving his doubters wrong throughout his entire career.

I disagree, he has a lot of people doubting him and West Ham, and when he first moved to Chelsea - after that no one doubted him.

Whether he’s one of the best is irrelevant, he’s in the conversation. He had no doubters throughout the vast duration of his career - that was my point.

My only point was that you said he was one of the best in the country and I'm maintaining he was one of the best in the world. Its only a minor point and I'm being pedantic.

At the time I was unaware of the bad feeling towards him at West Ham. As I understand it some of the fans were giving him stick and thought nepotism had played a part in him being picked. Harry Rednapp had seriously defended him and said he deserved his place. West Ham fans can be a cantankerous bunch at the best of times but Harry's view was that Frank was receiving unwarranted criticism. For a young player Frank did well at West Ham but didn't get a fair crack of the whip from the fans. Its true his scoring record at WHU wasn't as good as later in his career.

Its funny because they loved Joe Cole and he was a Chelsea fan.

If he was one of the best in the PL, ergo he was one of the best in the world.

again, the only point being made was that he didn’t have anyone doubting him whilst at Chelsea.

Paul Scholes was better - but as I said that’s a different debate! and for a different time!:D

Can remember a lot of bitter arguments against Lampards quality; he was only good for deflections and pens, needed the team built around him, wasn’t as good as Gerard and couldn’t do it without Makalele etc. Feel like he only really started to get fair credit in the Ancelotti season.

He's always been highly rated as a player. Not as good as Scholes was of course, but then nobody was

I used to read Football365; they hate him.

I'd have taken fecking Joe Biden over Moyes
Heard him on a podcast the other day, and he's really hung up about being seen as a "wheeler dealer".
Who can forget that infamous sweary rant at a reporter who called him it.

It's weird though, it's exactly what he was as a football manager! It's not necessarily about him being either a cockanee or a bit..."cheeky" with the financials

Those deflections though
The luck with which the ball reached him in the champs league final us was astounding too.

Helped not having to do any defending, with two beasts behind him as well.

Have seen that before, but it's an absolutely superb watch.

Bearing in mind the luck and commitment even the most talented players have to have to reach the top, to see Harry so incredibly proved right, after literally going all out so passionately in Franks' defence is amazing.

That guy in the crowd though, what a douche slating Frank when he's sat there in the room!

Saw his biggest West Australian fan today, driving around in a chelsea blue Holden, with a Chelsea windscreen sticker and the and rego was LAMPARD. Didn’t quite catch if he was a full kit wanker, but I’d imagine so.

The bloke who had a go at Frank was actually the uncle of the other player (Scott Canham) mentioned.
I saw an interview with Frank confirming the guy was Canham's uncle. I think the dislike for Frank did permeate beyond the Q&A video. Frank has confirmed that a fan did shout "sit down fat boy" at him. Rio Ferdinand played in the same team and defended Frank by saying the stick he got wasn't justified. Sounds like some of those WHU fans don't know whats good for them.

Its interesting to hear Frank talk about those days. He said the abuse he received motivated him to try harder when he went back with Chelsea. It didn't go so well in the first couple of games and he was trying too hard. He did make them pay later on though. Handsomely.

Honestly sounds eerily similar to what some of our fans (and England fans for that matter) are like with Mount in the present day, not so much match going fans but social media and fans forums definitely.

I do see why Frank probably sees a lot of himself in Mount. Players like himself and Mount are never going to be the flashy, skillful, get you off your seat type and that raises a lot of doubt about their top level credentials esp when compared to other more eye-candy players. These players however are the types managers love to work with as they put more stock in being productive if they can't be the flashy one.
