How long are we willing to take Pogba's insolance?

I honestly have no issue with his comments but he should leave, for the sake of his own career as well as for United's development. In the way he's being used now, he will simply never be as effective as we'd like him to be and he's getting worse by the game.
In our current state, bouncing between managers who the board refuse to back fully, we aren't at a level where we can manage egos like we were able to 10 years ago.

The biggest disappointment with Pogba is not what he says. It’s the fact that he’s got such fantastic footballing ability but he has never fulfilled his potential. He has moments of absolute genius and other moments of sheer cluelessness.

I know he’s won a World Cup which is great, but at the age of 27 if he carries on the same kind of performances for the rest of his career I would have to say he’s a had a disappointing career where he nowhere near fulfilled his potential.

He also said this,

"I am in Manchester and I love my club. I am playing in Manchester, I'm having fun and I want to do everything to put the club where it deserves.

"I will give everything to the max, like my team-mates."

Funny how this doesn't get mentioned, I'm not Pogba's biggest fan, but give the man a fecking break.
Oh well, as long as he is having fun. No bugger else is having any watching his god awful "performances" week in week out. Pointless chancer that he is.
I think Pogba is a really nice guy outside of football, but I don't believe he is ready to fight for our club and isn't the type of player to lift a team low on confidence or morale.

He's going to be class for a well-oiled machine, but the guy struggles when the odds are up against him and he has to be a driving force. Not good enough when we consider the expectations and the financial package we have invested into him. Someone can probably calculate hom much Pogba has cost so far, in terms of fees for the transfer, for the agent and his wage, plus bonuses. It will most definitely be an eye-watering sum that we could have put into improving the whole squad.
Ive said this for ages. On the pitch the bloke is a total minge. He has no fight or determination when things are rough.

What year we're living in? 1983? 1964?

Players nowadays is just a PR machine.

Another toxic thread.

We should take this as long as he wants to be bothered staying. Apparently he is great and we shouldn´t sell great players.
Come on Pogba you can do it!

How dare people romanticise the times that players gave a shit about the team they were playing for instead of being greedy cash machines...

Here we see, not only insolance, but also deluded ideas by someone who is all about him. His attitude, his disregard to his team, and the club (but also reality as well) is astonishing!

He'd like to go to Real... We sold players like Beckham, Ronaldo, van Nistelrooy there not the likes of him. Why would they put this toxicity and laziness in their midfield?

Why is he talking about it as if he deserves it? What did he do for us? All the above mentioned players did things in England that can make them say "Alright, time for a new challange!".
Ok, Becks and Ruud had a bit of a falling out with Ferguson, but lets rethink the standard he has set for players back then? You could be considered for "a chop" for a lot less than what we let players do now. Maybe sometimes us fans didn't like it either but it ultimatly worked.

I know Ole comes from Ferguson's footballing upbringing in many ways, so this lack of desire to put things in order can only come from higher up and from the fact someone screwed up by sanctioning Pogba purchase in the first place (but also for hring Mourinho and lots of other things but lets not pull on that thread now...).
Ole has often said SAF was the greatest influence on him as a player and manager so hes not going to step into Fergies old job and piss all over it by doing things he knows Fergie would never have stood for. Like you I think it all stems from above and the boards lack of ambition and desire to put United back where they belong is dragging the club down. Its all about money and image, "The Brand" to Woodward and his ilk, but our image is suffering and "The Brand" is failing as City, Liverpool, Chelsea will soon over take us in the financial stakes as well as the football, so what happens to "The Brand" when the money stops coming in? The Glazers will no doubt sell their cash cow but, unless new buyers not only invest but rid the Boardroom of Woodward and his toadies nothing will change.

Whenever I’ve seen him in the flesh at Old Trafford, which is only 3 or 4 times, you can see that in terms of touch, technique and skill, he’s a class above most of the other players.

But then let me ask this. Can anyone list 3 big games where he’s taken the game by the scruff of the neck, dominated the play and turned things round, winning us the match?

I can’t, and in fairness I can’t think of even one but there must be some examples right?!

I tried really hard for years to make excuses for Pogba, hoping that it'd finally click and he'd be an unstoppable force for us.

It's not going to happen. He does it when he gives a shit, the rest of the time he doesn't. We should be looking to off-load in the summer. Maybe sign a replacement early in January if possible.

Even if Ole wanted him out, I'm not sure Ed or the Glaziers would allow our most marketable player to go. It seems pretty evident that shirt sales and Instagram likes are more important than performance on the pitch.

The only way that would change is if they felt they'd get a lesser fee because his contract is running down.

Ever? Also does it have to be the same player in three games? I think you should have that as a condition, otherwise it's far too easy.

Exactly, we should be grateful that these players allow us the privelge of spending our cash on tickets to watch them (under) perform week in week out.

You can probably think of more than 3 for Bruno, and he’s only been here a couple of minutes.

The man’s deluded as feck if he thinks Real Madrid would be looking to sign him.

Thinks he’s a young Ronaldo or something when he hasn’t even performed well in 3 years.

If Madrid are willing to stump up even £80m for him I’d bite their hand off.

People might laugh but Grealish would give more heart and passion to a United side.

The issue for me is that he is asked the same question at least twice every year by french journalists and he always give the same answer. There is a point where players need to wise up and dodge questions or lie because he knows how social medias will react, if he personally doesn't care, he should do it for the club, that's the professional approach.

City game he was excellent. 3-2 win 2018/2019
Probably only the game against Arsenal when DDG made tons of saves and Pogba got the red card. He toyed Xhaka & their defense apart. And also the 2nd half against city when we were 2-0 down in first but won the game 3-2 at Etihad to stop them celebration title in Manchester derby. The Chelsea game in FA cup when Ole took over as interim manager was also good one.
Ah yes that one. I would argue (and maybe I'm being a bit harsh) that that game wasn't especially important to us or even City, and it was more a case of them bottling it after having us by the balls. But fair play that's one game.

Don't do this to yourself. Expectations only increase the pain afterwards. :(
Ah come one. Aren't you supposed to slaying Doom (and Gloom)?

They didn't all turn in to bad players and the manager and coaching team didn't turn into zombies who've eaten the player's brains so they've forgotten basic defensive positioning regardless of what's fashionable to say on here.

When things are bad they are never as bad as they seem and when they are good they are never as good as they seem.

The league table is all fecked up and I expect once the teams who played deep into the european competitions get back up to speed normal service will resume.

There'll still be weird results with the covid and no crowds but I can't see Aston Villa being in the top 4 or United/City/Wolves anywhere near the bottom half by Christmas.

If they are heads will obviously roll but it's unlikely if you ask me.

This is exactly how Fergie got so much respect. Would he allow Pogba to say and act like he does, NO. He would be on the bench and up for sale. Ole just has to stand up to the players and show his authority, or he is doomed to fail.

i think pogba has flattered to deceive in his time here, but then again who hasnt over the last 5 years.

some of the comments in this thread are beyond the pail. if asked, most of our first team would love to play for Real Madrid one day. does that make them complete shits? also we moan when players arent honest, and this thread and the sniping in it with some pretty crass personal insults, is exactly why players are more guarded than ever when they say things.

yes of course theres the context of contract negotiations etc, i still remember the like of Keane using comments in the press to influence contract negotiations and no one questioned their loyalty.

Not sure it matters really. He has 1 year left after this summer. Think we sell him or he walks for free at the end of the contract.

Keane, Beckham, Ronaldo, Cantona etc etc all say hello. Fergie put up with far more shit than these players are giving, as we had far more supersized egos in the club back in the day. As long as he thought they could contribute to the team winning he would keep them, otherwise he would happily throw them under the bus.

Travesty of a signing. In terms of cost and expectation one of our worst ever. Bar a handful of games he has been nothing but a mediocre drama queen stinking up the club for years. His game hasn't developed since he made his debut under Ferguson. Always the extra touch, almost invites pressure so he can try wriggle out of it. Off the top of my head he's been directly responsible for 3 goals conceded in the last 10 games or so which is far too many for a midfielder that offers not much else.

He's one of the biggest myths in football and if he hadnt had a couple of decent world Cup knockout games (after mediocre group showing) and been coasted to winning it by far the most talented squad in the tournament, most people would have woken up to the reality.

Sell as fast as we can
Fully agree.

"No-one has told me anything," he said at a press conference with the France national team on Thursday. "I have not spoken to [United executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward. We haven't spoken about a new deal.

"At the moment, I am in Manchester and I am concentrating about getting back to my best form.

"I think there will be a moment when the club will come and talk to me and maybe offer me something, or not."

Asked about the prospect of a move to Madrid, with whom he has been linked on a number of occasions, he replied: "All football players would love to play for Real Madrid. It is a dream for me, why not one day?

"I am in Manchester and I love my club. I am playing in Manchester, I'm having fun and I want to do everything to put the club where it deserves.

"I will give everything to the max, like my team-mates.
"

Imagine literally saying in a interview that he loves his club, he's commited to giving it all for the club, he's having fun and his teammates shares that mentality. And STILL have everything taken out of context and hated on. The ONLY reason Paul get's so much shit from everyone is because he's been inconsistent on the pitch. If he'd been a bonafide superstar day in and out you'd all be fine with this.

Or that's what I assume, since I recall what happened the last time our star player spoke about playing for Real Madrid:

"Personal, it's something I want, something I dream about," he said before quoting the advice of Portugal's Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

"(It is) a dream, a step forward... For me it's a very good opportunity. As Scolari says, this only happens once."

He added that leaving Manchester United would be difficult "but I think it could be good for both (of us)"."

Everyone was clamoring for the player to stay, our then manager even flew to visit him in his home to convince him to stay another year.

Who is the player I'm talking about?

These comments were WAY WAY worse than what Paul says, yet he's universally seen as a beloved legend because he was a great player for the club.

So the conclusion seems to be that you're not salty because of the comment, you're salty because he's not delivering on the pitch. Just make a thread about that instead of comments taken out of context.
Is there not a better way he could have answered that question? Along the lines of "I don't want to talk about other clubs. I am focused on France and our upcoming game, and having a great season with Manchester United."

Fair enough, in the background tell Raiola "get me to Madrid" or whatever he wants, but don't flirt around the issue in public, creating uncertainty and unneeded toxicity around the club after a 6-1 hammering at home. You say that it's unfair his comments are taken out of context, but Pogba 100% knows how they are going to be interpreted in the media, and said it anyway.

As for your comparison with Ronaldo, one is a legend who was universally loved by Man Utd fans, and possibly one of the greatest ever to wear the jersey. And Pogba... well not so much.

Yet you fail to do it.

Bruno hasn’t taken any game by the scruff of no neck, he doesn’t dictate play (that’s not even his playstyle). Bruno is incredibly wasteful, his passing accuracy is often poor because he’s a high risk/high reward player. The guy has stat padded his way with pens, and a substantial amount of his assists are simple sideways passing which Martial, Greenwood and Rashford often then go on worldie solo runs to score.

No one was bigger than the club was Fergie's motto. He punished Keane, Beckham, and Rooney and others, and was shown respect from all players. I remember what the club was like before Fergie took over and he changed it to our advantage. Best manager ever.

He is an exceptional talent, don't think anyone seriously doubts it, but it is also why he has been such a disappointment, Has he evolved as a player since Juve? 5th season and we are still talking about how best to use him, what he needs. Players as they mature should solve problems for managers, not create more of them.

You’re right. We should just let him do what he likes, and openly flirt with other clubs just days after he participated in us getting dicked 6-1 at home.

This is fine.

Why does Ronaldo behaving like a dick make Pogba’s comments any less irritating? I’m not sure if you’re old enough to remember but I can assure you that a lot of United fans found Ronaldo’s overtures to Madrid incredibly annoying at the time. Even though he was, at least, producing on the pitch.
