I don't get my copy till tomorrow, after another year of saying I won't be getting it of course, what are peoples' first impressions?
Gameplay is like basketball atm, non existent defences but I'm not sure if that's because of the players I have or the actual game. I only play FUT btw so unsure of the other modes.

At the minute the dribbling is ridiculous. The ball just sticks to he feet of whoever is in possession. It's damn near impossible to force mistakes against decent players. They need to either introduce nerf dribbling, add some form of auto tackling, or make the manual tackle more effective. At the minute if you are blocking the passing lane with one player, the CPU controlled player just jockies the man on the ball without ever making a tackles, even if the ball is easily within their reach. In terms of the manual tackle, unless you anticipate exact moment and direction the dribbler you'll either gave away a foul or miss the ball completely. We know, of course, that EA will introduce no such changes to make it more balanced.

It's an absolute trainwreck, won't stop folk spending a bomb on it though.

Has anyone tried the PES 2021 update? Thinking of picking up that on PC and modding it. Not a hope I'm going near Fifa again until Ultimate Team is banned and then they might bother to create a decent football game.

I present you: Ciro "71 Vision, 53 Long Passing" Immobile.

Given how much patience it takes to actually get off a well-timed tackle and how much of a commitment it often is I think the success chances aren't consistent enough. Other than that and perhaps some inconsistencies in passing (though that might entirely be down to myself being rusty) it's actually a quite promising first version in my opinion.

Having two left-footed CBs isn't ideal, but Kimpembe gives me a good CB and access to a great keeper for cheap. Thinking about upgrading Davies to F. Mendy to get Hazard to full chem, though that's probably not worth paying 50k extra. How do people reckon either player's price will develop short to midterm? I always forget how these things go at the beginning of the new "season".

Graphics look miles better than FIFA. I'm guessing that's because it's on a high end PC or something?
That looks insane! Think I may be going back to PES....
Cheers man, looks like some brilliant mods on show here. Would you need a high end PC to use them?
Actually, I don't think so. Most people who use the mods on Evo-Web forums have fairly standard performing PC's. The guy who made this video single-handedly recreated every custom television camera angle for most major clubs in Europe and released it as a patch/mod. But yeah, you shouldn't have any trouble needing a brilliant PC. The combination of the camera mod and playing on full manual is key, though. It's a completely different game on those two!

Sounds great. Installing the mods also handy enough? I've ended up purchasing it on Steam now gonna leave it to download overnight :)

Glad I didn't spend money on this.
After what EA did with FIFA 20 I could not in good conscience give them another cent until they get the coding and scripting issues fixed and Ive been playing FIFA since FIFA 96.

FIFA 20 felt like the game was in control most of the time and it controlled the outcome, I was just a pawn in whatever the feck they were trying to accomplish.

Apologies if its been asked but can someone help me out?

So I want to buy FIFA 21 for my ps4 now and I'm probably getting a ps5 sometime in the new year.

Can I just buy the most basic disc version of this game and still have 'dual entitlement'?

Thanks.

As long as you buy the Ps5 with the disk drive, yes.

@Eddy_JukeZ what are your first impressions of the game?

Same for you actually @Macern you'll probably know if I'll enjoy it.
Yeah you’ll enjoy it. First impression is that it’s honestly the best gameplay in many years. You never know what they’ll do with updates, but the general consensus is that the community loves it as well. I‘ve played around 60-70 games already, most of them with a friend. I love the new co-op feature in FUT.

The best FIFA gameplay in a very long time.
Surprising. Played it for the first time last night and thought it was crap. Players floating around like they're ice skating.

Tried to play fifa 20 last night as a goodbye. Best UT I ever had that one. But for the life of me i simply couldn't get a game without lag and lost both my matches. So I just quit and uninstalled it . I've never had lag that bad in fifa in the last 2 years. Rarely get it.
It’s most likely cause most players have moved over to Fifa 21 so now you’re more likely to get paired with players outside your region with higher latency.

Are we playing the same game?

Do you not hate how easy it is to completely bypass the midfield?
I actually really like it. The attacking is so fluid.

I’m generally quite good at defending in Fifa 20 and 21. But for anyone struggling with defending, this game will be a nightmare as you really need to be on the ball with jockeying and tackling.

I'm looking at it from a competitive standpoint.

The skill gap hasn't been this big in a FIFA game in a very long time.

There's so many advanced mechanics in attack and defending hasn't been this hard in a long time.

I guess there's a larger difference now between what Fifa is and what football is. It definitely seems to be going towards benefiting the competitive e-sports side of things.
