Well for me this summer the priorities were a centre back and a right winger of high quality. I dont know if we just failed miserably or we have huge faith in Mengi or Tuanzabe this year but either way a grave mistake. Of coruse we have potentially signed two right wingers, both very young to so the jury will be out to see how ready they are over the coming season.

Next summer unless someone emerges or of course changes within our own side, I think there are two priorities next summer and they arent even positions, they are players:

Upamecano and Camavinga, probably £120m for the pair and we wouldnt have to spend a penny:

Out
Jones
Rojo
Bailly
Pogba
Fred
Lingard
James
Fosuh Mensah
Dalot (permanent)

Of course the downside is I think almost every big club will also be after both and I see Upamecano at Juve/Bayern and Camavinga at Madrid (please Madrid buy Pogba)

I was hoping one positive of the previous window would be nonsense assumptions like this would die. We can’t just sell off deadwood in some FM style manner & you’ve no basis for the probably £120m.

I’d quite like the 2 but that list of dross isn’t fetching the fees your imagining & we don’t know what it’ll cost to get them.

I think you're right in that it could be an issue, big or small. It's going to be the Pogba dilemma all over again.
Yep. I was about to type the same reply. Hopefully he settles into one position quickly at the right club. Preferably ours! The kid exudes insane talent.

The mental relationship that large amounts of United fans have with Real Madrid is a very strange thing. Not every single good player in world football is going to end up at Madrid, contrary to what you might believe. Stop letting them live in your mind like this all the time.

It makes sense in this thread due to the crazy amount of reporting that they are very after him and their manager is a literal god in French football.

I think we don’t have much of chance of getting Upamecano or Camavinga. We might have if we’d went out and paid up for sancho. I think it majorly changes the way the project looks from the outside to players of a certain level. We currently look disorganised and indecisive and things could be even worse by the end of the season. Maybe we are actually striving to be the best club in the world and we have some kind of long term plan but I don’t think our last window really says that at all. We were all over the place to be fair!

I think he is so good, it won't be an issue. He can play as a holding midfielder if needed, or controller or more attacking if needed imo. I would play him as a no.8

Nah, he’s naturally miles better defensively than PP, so it’s not as big of a deal for him to settle into one position. Pogba is a different story because he doesn’t have the work rate or defensive awareness for certain roles that he is put into.

If Madrid come calling in the summer sell them Pogba and get this guy.
Madrid is not going to buy Pogba as long as he's represented by Mino Raiola. They rarely, if ever touch his players.

This entire thread explains it, i think its via Marca

M•A•J (@Ultra_Suristic) Tweeted: MARCA: For several years Real Madrid has been criticised for their transfer business. They tried to strike a balance between wages & transfers instead of spending big. This is why they're healthy while other clubs like Barca are struggling financially in the pandemic.

That's 200 milion losses in revenue, not actual losses though. And we still closed 19/20 in the black, while investing 350m in new signings and increasing the wage bill significantly compared to 18/19

We subsequently didn't make any new investments into the team, while shedding extra weight...i don't think we're close to our limit, more likely we're just trying to save as much as possible just to be sure

But regardless, next season's transfer windows will depend on whether COVID is still around, not much on this season's finances

So you'll have enough for Pogba, right? 60m is fine. or 45 + 15 in reasonably achievable addons.

Sell Pogba and bring this lad in, honestly. That would be some ideal January business.

And entirely realistic.
A lot of obstacles. Not much movement in January due to Covid, I'd say. No club likely to cough up (what the club would consider) a reasonable offer for Pogba at any rate. Camavinga not likely to want to join us with half the world after him, but maybe.

What will he sell for though? Find it very difficult to put a price on a player like him.

He'll be on his last year of his contract, about 40-60m is what I expect him to go for, wherever that's going to be.

Well Upamecano has a release clause of £38m odd next summer so that is set in stone and as fantastic as Camavinga is, I cant see him going for a fee over £80m if even close to that.....so yes I do have a a pretty good basis for that estimation.

As for the value of players, well you maybe right there the way we failed so miserably this summer. However saying that both Dalot and Perreira are on loan with options to BUY at the end of the loans and I am sure Pogba, Fred and Bailly would bring in reasonable fees (lets not forget just the three of them cost us way over £120m after all) irrepective of the struggle to sell the other players mentioned, so I dont think it is folly that the group of them would bring in a total of around that figure

There's no money. Nothing left in the tank. They can't even rely on help from the State as of now.

Hazard was a huge outlay. Not to forget the actually very expensive outlay on young Brazilians which have gone under the radar.
They've been quite unsuccessful with young Brazilian forwards in recent times.

He's good, let's buy him. He will cost a tad more than we'd want to pay but he'd be worth it. Him and Fati. I say this after watching loads of YouTube clips....so I've done my research.

Fati is Barcelonas future and the one to lead them in the post Messi era most probably. Hence why they don't care about dembelle right now. They think they found their star.

Has anyone other than Juve shown any interest in Pogba this year? He has had a horrible start to the season but I think he looks unfit so a lot will depend on how he progresses the following months. He is most probably going to be back in form by November. Still the singing of VDB in my mind is to replace Pog not rest him.

Put in place mechanism! This has to be a running joke at this point with the hacks on how many different ways can you say Utd are interested in a player.

Haha good one. I see zero chance of us getting Camavinga. He'll have to have a desire to come here. We need to have the money. And then a competent negotiating team. To fight off competing teams. So no. This is not going to happen.
