Am I alone in thinking we’d be better with Smalling, and without Maguire?!
I think there are a few more that think that way. Personally I doubt we would be playing CL this season if Smalling had played last season instead of Maguire.

No as Lindelof and Smalling weren’t good enough the season prior to signing him. Maguire and Mike may have been a good partnership, but we’ll never know, as it’ll never happen, so move on...

So you think the 80m CB and captain should be continuously making mistakes? And you're comparing him to the young striker who just broke through?

Lindelof, Pogba, Matic, DDG, are all players that have been questioned regarding their place in the team, Maguire should be no different.

AWB is also coming under seriously scrutiny
So are you saying that a £80m cannot make mistakes and everyone else can?

I am not defending Maguire, hes been very poor since the start of the season.

The issue is no one else is playing well either which makes it even harder for our defence. When none of the forward players are tracking back helping out the defence, I am sorry no defence in Europe will be able to cope with 4 v 4. In some instances we have the LB and RB overlapping with neither Rashford or Greenwood tracking back.

Maguire needs to be dropped, so does Pogba. They were the 2 worst performers v Spurs and if Ole sticks to the same team, there will be huge pressure and question marks over him.

Key word being continuously
Other important note in my comment was the comparison to a young striker who just broke through

No I do not expect the captain and leader of the side to continuously make mistakes nor do I expect that from Pogba.

Greenwood on the other hand well thats a given

I do get where you are coming from in respects to Greenwood. However; as a manager you should be putting that right. Okay Greenwood hasn't tracked back in a game but then you have a word and say, look to keep your place in this team, you gotta help out defensively too.

It's becoming pathetic that none of our attackers are doing anything to help our defence.

Look at the best teams around Europe, every player puts a shift in. Aubameyang at Arsenal puts in a shift, Salah, Mane, KDB, Werner. There is no excuse, youth is not an excuse either not to work hard for the team.

I am 100% sure this is the manager's fault. Rashford was helping out defensively and pressing for England, so its clear that they have instructions from the manager to stay up.

Once we sort that out Maguire and the defence will be fine.

Losing to Comeback Winning!
Curious, what leadership traits does he have?
I can only count one - sometimes he step up. Sometimes. Performance wise, trying to make a difference in game. That's it.

If you want to count the yelling to Shaw thing, then it seems he is only brave enough to do that to Shaw and maybe some few others. I didn't see him communicate with his other teammates especially his closest CB partner Lindelof. The organisation between them is a mess. As a captain, he doesn't communicate enough with his team. No, I don't count the artificial making plans with teammates thing. That's too common and not always effective. It's just trying to make lame impression of doing teambuilding exercise which is not usually effective. Every appointed leader who is trying to make good impression will consider doing it.

Maguire has the leadership (and talent) of a potato. It's the typical player that blames others for his mistakes and shouts a lot, but only to a certain group of players (a bit of bullish atittude). For example, to Shaw. I never saw him shout to Pogba.
The sooner we replace him and select another captain, the better.

I never said it shouldnt be put right for Greenwood by the way.

However I dont expect to keep seeing the same repeated mistakes by senior members of the side.

I also disagree that our attackers don’t track back enough. In fact sometimes they were doing too much defending and thats what we have been attempting to change over time. This means are defenders need to get comfortable defending 1 on 1. And our midfield needs to be setup to cover.

Greenwood btw does actually track back too.

Saying all that, still doesnt change stupid mistakes being made by the defenders.

So now the solution is not one good centre back alongside him to cover for his faults but instead to have two good centre backs to cover for him ?

How about this instead ? We get rid of him and just go with two good centre backs instead

Get. Rid. Horrendous for England. Cannot fathom why Southgate played him. He’s been woeful for both club and country since the Greece debacle.

6th minute tackle was just a face palm moment. Now the sending off. Wow. Just wow.

Needs to be taken out of the squad.

Clearly nowhere near prepared mentally for playing football. Needs a month or so out to refresh.

Pretty tragic. Feel sorry for him, even if he’s largely been the architect of his own downfall. Not good to see anyone having a negative spiral.

Some players can handle this amount of stress. They can almost revel in it. Not Harry I’m afraid. He looks mentally shagged right now and cannot play for us at this moment in time.

I don't understand why our fans are against him. He's clearly going through a rough patch and it's obvious that whatever happeneed in Greece is affecting him. He needs some time off and support from our fans yet some are so keen to throw him under the bus. Cretins I tell you

Would be mad to start him at the weekend, he needs a spell away from the limelight for a bit and let him get his head right.

I think I must be the only one who thought he was unlucky with that second yellow.
Got away from him, he won the ball, then unfortunately momentum took him into someone.

Saving himself for saturday though...smart

He is not suited to modern football at the highest level. Lingard looked amazing in the World Cup run ffs!

His lack of pace was an issue when we signed him; had Arsenal spent as much & his name Mustafi we’d be laughing at them.

Oooops, off for England with two shocking tackles due to lack of pace. So he can rest during the next International break, maybe in Jail.

Dropping him will put even more pressure on him. Would give the likes of Keane an opportunity to stick the boot in
