It's out the same time as CyberPunk isn't it? Good luck with that Ubi.

I enjoyed AC:Odyssey but it was very superficial. Obviously if you want games with historical accuracy you probably shouldn't play AC but as a fan of Ancient Greece (and Rome to a lesser extent) the characters were a bit naff.

I will be picking this up but most likely not to be on day one. I like the AC franchise but have picked the last two up a couple months later for half the price.

Imho better to wait for the expansions to come out as well. I pretty much never go back to a game if I finish the base game before the expansion have hit. Maybe that's just me. Plus almost any AC games have some serious bugs that get fixed over a fairly long period of time. AC gfx fortunately age pretty well too so even if I play it a year or even two later it still holds up well.

When Unreal 5 kicks in at the beginning of 2021 then games like AC are going to look mind-blowing in the future.

Weird to give the main character a female name and then giving the option to play as some burly viking dude. The character and story also doesn't feel very "assassin-y".

Aye buying brand new games for full whack just doesn't make any sense to me.
I think if it's something really popular and theres a chance to be spoiled. I will purchase asap but still search far and wide to get it as cheapnas possible. But with something like AC, it's much easier to resist any urge to buy full price.

This makes sense for sure, it probably explains why I enjoy AC even more as I pick it up after the bugs have been sorted and can just enjoy the game.

I'll probably get this just because it's a big open world game that should be all shiny and nice to look at on release day.

It looks nice but you just know it's going to be the same old crap anyway. By the time you've cleared 20 forts you're sick and tired of it and you can look forward to repeating that another 50 times, accompanied by another host of activities that you perform over and over and over and over and over and... Then you reach some god awful modern day segment that somehow makes you wish you could return to all that other mindnumbingly boring crap asap.

Skipped origins and odyssey. Might have a bash at this one. Looks alright.
If you skipped those games this will likely feel pretty fresh for you. The issue is for those that played hours on Odyssey this does look abit samey. I think I’ll pick it up later down the road after playing Cyberpunk and probably Spider-Man.

Guess I better finish that second DLC of AC Odyssey soon. Legend of the Blade was already longer than expected (and a bit depressing!) - and now the Atlantis one is waaaaay bigger than expected. Im only in Elysium.

I did buy origins but never got far as ended up playing other stuff. So classed it as a skipped game, I know things have changed gameplay wise which should be fun. Vikings are more my thing than Romans or ancient Egypt.

The Viking theme is the main thing wanting to make me play the game! Can finally role play the last kingdom.

As a side point I wish AC games just let you play your own protagonist, I know that narratively that doesn’t work but I just much prefer RPGs that give you that freedom to use your own imagination.

In a way the last two games have moved significantly more in that direction than before with the skill trees and multiple protagonists as well as bigger focus on gear and choices you make. Ironically that's also what irks a lot of the AC "purists" who didnt like Origins and Odyssey for it.

We don't have the present day / future bullshit thing to deal with do we?

Yeh as someone who used to love the originals and yet still somewhat enjoyed the newer iterations I just feel they are stuck between places. The original AC games were more like a sandbox but I think that worked better when combined with their gameplay and narrative style. The newer games seem like abit of a mismatch and while they are still fun to play I don’t think the RPG elements really work against the narrative. That probably makes absolutely zero sense haha.

Oh no doubt they will throw in a bit just to pretend it’s assassins creed. I do think at this stage wrapping this up under a new IP would be sensible but they are in too deep.

Even though I’m gonna get it, it isn’t exactly captivating me from the vids.

It’s the kind of world that deserves rdr2 amounts of work.

Od/Origins were stunning games and were fun. It just lacked in terms of depth I felt. So much content but it all felt a bit hollow, could of halved the Map and just worked on making the content within more alive.

I got Origins recently and it’s not that great. Seems more dated than it actually is to me.

Xbox Series X | S: Take in the mysterious Northern Lights of Norway or the majesty of England’s Stonehenge in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X. Thanks to the collaboration between the game team and Microsoft to implement Xbox Velocity Architecture and DirectStorage API on Xbox Series X | S, you can take full advantage of faster loading speeds for more play time, and a smoother and more powerful experience. With Smart Delivery you can purchase an Xbox One X version of the game and you’ll be able to upgrade at no extra cost when you get your new Xbox Series X | S*.

PlayStation 5: PS5 players can immerse themselves in the stunning open world with the power of the Tempest 3D Audio Engine to hear the environment around them, along with detailed 4K and 60 frames per second visuals, and faster loading speeds due to the additional power of the console’s ultra-high speed SSD. If you purchase a PS4 copy of the game, you’ll be able to upgrade at no additional cost to the PS5** edition.
First AC game to be 60fps on consoles. Same for the new Far Cry.

It looks bad to me. The audio doesn't match up with what you're seeing and the voice actors are quite poor.

Graphics are a bit meh.

But, it's Ubisoft, so I don't expect much.

Looking into Uplay + on PC. This on the new Watch Dogs for a £12 monthly fee? seems like a great deal, I wont need more than a month.

It sounds like it's going to be just as (if not more ) massive as Odyssey... which was way too big for me. (and the story wasn't strong enough to keep me interested)

This doesn’t even look like an Assassins Creed game, plus stealth, covert assassin gameplay as a Viking sounds like a hilarious oxymoron to me.

It's not. The map is demonstrably smaller than Odyssey; only the landmass is concentrated in one area as opposed to Odyssey being sporadically placed across various islands. Plus, from playthrough's so far it would seem that respective regions have a good deal of visual difference and variety, which offsets the main criticism of Odyssey, namely the cut-and-paste landscape prevalent through the entire map.

I loved odyssey and I am very much looking forward to this.

I couldn’t really care about it not been true to the assassins creed series or whatever people are moaning about, as long as it’s got a good story and gameplay/combat is fluid I’ll enjoy it.

Got it ready to go on PS store at midnight, I have a week holiday off work so I’m going to hammer it all week.

Not really much stealth anymore. I doubt the "Do not be detected" even exists at this point.
From what I have seen, this one has much better stealth implementation than Origins and Odyssey. Here you can actually assassinate people instead of just taking off 50% of his health because he is bigger level than you.

I think odyssey is the best AC I’ve played since Ezio. But I do miss the actual Assasins storyline. AC3 is the last game to do that. Black flag was just all about pirates and then the assassins show up, they don’t effect the story whatsoever. Been that way since. Shame they abandoned the Animus storyline. It was the most interesting thing about it.
